Wow. He's pretty sweet!
Probably the most promising figure i've from the line so far IMO. He has a more traditional TF aesthetic compared to most of the movieverse figures.

That's not his real head is it? It looks a whole lot like the classics Ultra Magnus repaint of classics Prime. If it is then it is a pretty cool design and unsuspected for a movieverse head mold.

Not too sure about the rotors wrapping around his torso, maybe he's mistransformed. Overall though I'm really liking this guy in both modes.

SkyHammer looks good, but man i hate that god forsaken MECH TECH weapon!! It reminds me soo much of the oversized weapons that came with the Rise of Cobra figures.

Why (the hell)do they gave them all this ugly huge guns? (somebody overcompensating?)
It was wonderful idea to made weapon body-integrated in first two movies (but i`m gonna kill slowly those wo write the story, if we ever met, anyway).

Wow, that's one very impressive robot mode, especially for a movie figure!
And as others have said, a helicopter based TF that actually looks good in both modes (even though I agree with Duskfall that his alt mode looks like Tomahawk.)

couldnt they have painted him a different colour? Perhaps go for blue, gold and red like the original Skyhammer.. he looks too much like Tomahawk with this colour scheme

I'm inclined to wait and see how he's repainted - I mean, released at the very beginning of the set he should certainly have time to be redone - but that didn't work out so well with RotF Stratosphere. :/

Nice looking figure I wonder what character it repainted as, speaking of repaints as I recall a while back we had the instructions for G2OP, Tomahawk, Thunderwing and Terradive with different head sculpts, any clue as to who they are and when they will be released

I was thinking the same thing, but I like it! Like a beefed-up version almost. This guy is actually really cool, I just hope he has good leg articulation. I still might wait for a repaint though.

May be the best copter TF yet. Great bot mode. Great alt mode. Copter mode actually reminds me a lot of the old Mil Mi-24 Hind Gunship the Soviets used back in the day...anyone else getting that vibe?

I totally see the modernized Hind look. I really like this guy. The blades folding over the chest, the TRANSFORMERS looking head mold (not cyber-bug-face-movieverse crap) , nice hands, nice color....only the meh tech weapon looks bad. But, why not call him Whirl?

You know what I really like about Skyhammer? No third-leg tail in bot mode!
I want to see him in profile. While I like the idea of the blades wrapping around Skyhammer's torso, I do not want them to stick out too far. They appear to have pegs about half-way down, so the blades shouldn't stick out that far. Though Skyhammer could also have a very wide torso...

There were never definitive answers, but the big contenders were
G2 Op => Motormaster
Thunderwing => Black Shadow
Tomahawk => "Airachnid" a trademark Hasbro applied for but was denied.
Terradive => No Idea, maybe an original character like Tomahawk's retool.
Also, we were probably going to get:
Perceptor => Reflector
Scourge => Ratbat (from Megatron: Origin)
Kup => Gears?
With the line so close to termination, it looks like it could be a year before we see any of these though.
I could see Tomahawk, Terradive, and Optimus's retools getting out sooner though, as I really think we'll see a rebrand next Fall that carries the DotM line away from Mech Tech, with some better versions of the main cast, and some retools/repaints from before Mech Tech. Those three, of course, are most compatible to movie aesthetics.
The more I look at Skyhammer, the more I wish they had actually painted him up as Ultra Magnus. It might be nice to have a rendition that was distinctly different from Optimus, and carried the body mass and firepower you associate with the character. The chest-rotor also vaguely reminds me of Ultra Magnus's chest 'straps'. Of course, bright red, white, and blue would have looked silly. You'd either want to go with a predominately arctic camo or navy blue vehicle mode, with dark red robot parts.

Blackout looks decent enough in both modes if you keep his rotors on his back, and Incinerator looks like one of those classic bad guys that, for some reason or another, has had to sacrifice/lose an aesthetic or functional portion of his 'humanity' to be scarier, like Captain Hook, General Grievous, Darth Vader, Zbigniew Krycsiwiki, Red Skull, Dr. Octopus, Mr. Freeze, etc.

I don't see this guy being an actual character in the movie, probably based off of a vehicle in the movie, like Stratosphere and Incinerator.. the face and the legs and such do not have the look that typical movie characters have..
But hey, I could be wrong, it's happened once or twice before.

I think you're gonna be right this time. He reminds me a lot of ROTF Breakaway; movieverse body and G1-ish head sculpt. Breakaway was a proposed character for the movie [at least there was concept art of him] that was canceled for whatever reason, and he ended up as a "non-canon" movieverse toy that never showed up in the film itself.
I'm not a fan of the clear yellow plastic canopy, though. If the Takara version has clear or at least blue clear plastic for its canopy, I might just pick him up if I see him on the shelves.

Sorry, but it the helicopter mode which makes this a fail in my eyes. Doesn't look near enough like a Mil Mi-24 Hind, and seems to be mostly made up. I'd also say that the new DotM smaller Voyager scale is way too small to do any sort of justice to the alt mode.
I still don't fancy any of the DotM molds much at all, except perhaps Roadbuster.

It's nice, but I won't be getting it - giving my money to any line connected with the Bayformers goes entirely against principal in terms of toy collecting (ie - any purchase that can make Hasbro think the new movies are remotely worthy of my financial attention).

I'll buy him as soon as i see him he looks awsome i liked him from the first few pics we saw and he is one of only two mechtech i plan on buying so far.Oh and i like his chest.

I'd like to see a photo of this figure from the side. I wanna see how far the blades stick out from behind him.
