Seibertron.com member Scaleface has brought to our attention an auction for the new, as-of-yet un-named Transformers Movie Ironhide repaint. Little is known about this figure, other than it is an Autobot (see insignia on the forehead).

(I don't even wanna know what was in the blue thingie )
Next repaint of Ironhide must be like red (as main color) a bit white and black would look like a bowl of kickass

My biggest problem with this figure is that all those details get lost in my usualy beloved all consuming black.

People kitbashed him into Trailbreaker because whenever there is a black pickup truck Transformer, well, it has to be Trailbreaker, there's no other possibility... because, you know, G1 had that black pickup truck 20 years ago, so now all characters have to play by the precedence set by G1, and are not allowed to deviate at all.
Now I must go repaint my Cybertron Landmine bright neon green and purple, because it's against the law of the fandom to have a construction-vehicle TF that is not painted in the Constructicon colours...

I'm noticing a hint of sarcasm here.
Seriously though, I really don't like the blue with the mud. I like black lots better.

Yes, I totally agree with Liege and Skowl. Black is cool, because I think of Ironhide as The Intimidator of the Autobots, and because the G1 Ironhide/Ratchet mold was *first* seen in black in Diaclone. But blue *does* show of the scult details better than black, and, like Skowl said, I don't know if red would really be any better than black or blue.
Personally, my black Ironhide doesn't have any paint detail on his face. I know some of ya'll were lucky enough to get Ironhides with face paint, but I was not so lucky. So I'm thinking of using the reprolabel Trailbreaker set to turn black Ironhide into Trailbreaker (more because we don't *have* a modern Trailbreaker figure than to make it more G1), and have this blue Ironhide be the Ironhide of my collection, since the blue shows off the mold details better.
That's just my take on things, though.

Red, please.

You'll be getting three toys out of the same mold...
Movie Ironhide (as is)
Trailbreaker (ReproLabeled)
Skids (blue repaint, ReproLabeled)
Not bad really. Although the bright blue is really...well..bright. >_O

Quoted for so much truth, it's like the 4 continuity families since G1 don't count anymore...

Weren't there people also complaining that G1 color schemes for Jazz, Ratchet and Optimus Prime didn't belong on their respective toys or were boring and predictable?

Yup, me. I saw them once again yesterday in Montreal and boy they look out of place. Especially Jazz sporting his name in car mode. It reminds me of G2 or TM.

I've seen a bit of a custom repaint of this figure in red, It looked ok but many because there was alot of silver and some yellow to ballance it.
Still, if Hasbro was to do a red version of this figure, I don't believe they would put half as much effort into it as a fan and he'd turn out looking like a can of crushed tomatoes!
I do have to agree with Skowl, I love G1, but not everything has to be a G1 homage, after all, I don't remember any of this whey Energon IronHide came out in either of his color patterns
As for the idea of calling him TrailBreaker, well if thats what you wanna do go ahead! The way I see it is once you pay for a bot, you can do whatever you want with it reguardless of what the box sayes.
I do it all the time

Yay! Someone finally understands what I'm trying to say. Too many people think I'm anti-G1, but I'm not. G1 was fine, but so were the other 15 years of TF history (minus Beast Machines) and it drives me nuts that many of the fans who claim NOT to be G1 purists will not be happy until something is as close as G1 as possible ("I'm not a "gee-wunner", but why no Ark in the TF Movie and why Ironhide is black??!")
And it is strange how the colour of Energon Ironhide didn't bother too many people... maybe they were all distracted by how horribly bad the toy was...

At least it isn't that horrible Allspark power blue though.

1)I hate to be critical, but that looks like CRAP!! No wonder it's only up to $9 with 3 hours to go. Mud? To be honest, besides the "mud" I didnt see the guy do a whole lot.

I was thinking the same thing as Jawn Crusher, perhaps it will be Kup... Now to have Hot Rod in the Sequel as a Red 2008 or 09 Chevrolet C6 Corvette Z06...

What are you smoking? Cuz he didn't repaint it, it came that way. And he's in Hong Kong, and international shipping (he also says it's express) is expensive. I shipped a Leader Prime to Singapore USPS Express and it was 43 bucks.

No, I do as well. But whatever, there's a sucker born every minute.

That guy wouldn't have had to worry about overall cost because he doesn't have to sell it at retail. Hasbro do.

I've dealt with that seller (not Toy Wave, the guy from Ebay) before for a few test shots. He uses regular airmail ($14.10 at the most as he uses the smallest possible boxes with little packaging material - that's how he shipped my Voyager Starcream). Even the faster option is still only $21.
