Here's what Nelson, the admin of Bay's site, says:
I spoke to Mike today...
He's been super busy editing the movie and in the process shooting the ads that will accompany the release of Transformers. He's doing ads that involve GM and Pepsi.
The unreleased ad (Prime speaks) that was posted on youtube was a test that European were making with the ads. The clip where OP was "speaking," lets just say that it wasn't OP or Cullen speaking. It was something the European studios added on their own. In fact, it was a test shot.
As reported by Slate, Spielberg and Bay are not at odds. Where do they come up with this?
As reported by naysayers and haters, Bay never said "the cartoons were amatuer and our movie is spectacular" in Empire magazine. He was referring to the animation and complexity of the transformation of the cartoon robots themselves and not the cartoons as a whole.

Anyway, I'm off to think about General Motors vehicles towing giant transforming bottles of Pepsi.

This is quite good news. I just hope it all ends well.
Mere months away now too.
Bay ain't the greatest, but there is really no need to attack him at every turn.
So he doesn't do exactly what you want. Since when has Hasrbro done that either?
Remember, Hasblo set the bar for screwing over tfans, not Bay.
He is just doing what he thinks is best in the end.

As to that Op speaks clip I bet it was real and they wanted to get an idea of how it would go over before the "official" release. Like the "re-designed" megatron because of fan dislike and mockery, it will change , just not much.
This post makes me was to cause self-inflicted pain with a blunt object.
Sounds like your forcing yourself to not believe the article, due to your need to hate Bay.

Or due to his mental retardation.

Now I doubt that the Prime voice that was used in that youtube vid is the real deal, it wouldnt surprise me if it ended up in the final movie.

It wouldn't surprise you if they had Cullen be Prime for the entire movie, but just left in that one scene where it isn't him? What does that even mean?

Someone on TFW2005 had pointed out a few links to someone altering the pitch of the clip. They weren't working for me at the moment, so I took the downloaded copy of "Optimus Lips", as I call it, and recorded the sound off of it via Audacity. Following another tip, I upped the pitch by 2.5 semitones (don't ask me what they are, that's what the guy said to to, and I found a way on the program to do that), and listened to it again.
(Voight sounded kinda funny, but) That was DEFINATELY Cullen in the trailer. Upping the pitch shows you that.
Now, I share the opinion of (yet another) member of TFW2005, in that Bay meant that was not the tone of Cullen's voice they'd be using for the film, rather than that not being Cullen at all.

I am also glad to hear that it will sound more like Cullen in the film, Prime has to sound like Prime.
And even if we were to presume that they deliberately leaked that clip to test the voice with the fans then I say good on them, it shows they listen and are still refining and improving things.
Can't wait for this film to come out, this is the first film in a few summers that I am actually anxious to see.

i_amtrunks wrote:How many times have we heard/read someone say "that was a mock version" or "the design is not final" or "it wont be like that in the final version", only for whatever they said to not be true, and the designs be final, or that the not final or the mock version ends up being exactly what will be in the final version?
I can cite you a specific example - a month or so before Sony's Godzilla movie came out {the one often called GINO by Godzilla fans} a picture of the "Godzilla" leaked out. The vast departure was drawing many complaints from Godzilla fans and Dean Devlin and/or Roland Emmerich flat out denied that leaked image was of their "Godzilla".
Now, while I do still have concerns about the upcoming Transformers movie - I hope Bay is telling the truth {though Stalker's post leaves some doubt}.
Someone on the official movie boards posted a thread about comparing Prime's head in the "Prime Speaks" clip with that of the final movie poster {which presumably is using the final model for Optimus}.
It's indeed different, most notably the lower jaw doesn't seem to jut out as it does in the clip - so I'm fairly certain that model used when Optimus speaks is outdated and not what'll be in the movie itself.

Well yeah, one could if you add in the "bla bla bla". As it is, though, I only altered the pitch level. Increased by the already-stated 2.5 semitones (still wish I knew what that term meant...), the voice matches the recent Cullen clips perfectly. Or, at least, is too close to be anyone else.
If I had a way, I'd upload the MP3 for you.

Thumbs up to Bay, he's put up with a lot of crap to move transformers in a direction it needs to go.
Posted by Hans on April 23rd, 2007 @ 10:59am CDT
Anyway, I just hope Peter Cullen's voice won't be changed, synthesized or whatever. His natural "Prime voice" is just too good for that. We need him to sound like the original Optimus. If they manage to make him sound normal (shouldn't be too hard) I'll manage to enjoy the movie regardless of the crap designs of the actual Transformers.
If only they would have just gone with the Masterpiece designs... those would have been realistic (and familiar) enough, I'm certain of it.
