Our own Shinobi Rendar has brought to our attention a new message posted by Michael Bay on his site Shootfortheedit.com. Here is what Shinobi Rendar reported:

"Hey, i want to thank everyone for the kind words on the trailer. I'm so used to seeing robots I kind of got bored with the trailer. I forget you have not seen them. When they put the piece together I kept wanting to show our truly awesome shots - but we didn't. I can without a doubt say we have just teased you on this trailer. We have so many awesome shots that will never be in our ads. I bet this will be one of the rare trailers that does not show you the true money shots of the movie.

I would also like fans opinion on opening on July 3rd instead of the 4th. The studio kind of sort of is thinking about which might mean "no". If you spread the word on the Net - they might listen. The 3rd everyone is off from work, I say "what the fuck" play the movie - "give'em giant fucking robot early"!!!
Bay"

*Wookie noise*
Michael Bay isn't as bad as a lot of people make him out to be. He seems to be truly excited about the job they've done on this movie. Here's hoping for the 3rd...even though I like the way the 7.4.7 looks, I can make sacrifices!

The 3rd's cool. That means it would be a special Tuesday opening. Lucas went for Thursdays.

I'm fine with the 4th though.

I am delighted to learn that Mr. Bay feels his best work is being held for theater-goers to experience first. It is always a dissapointment when one pays for a ticket and then learns that he or she is being presented with nothing better than what was shown in the trailers. Mr. Bay, you have raised my expectations once again...bring on the giant f*cking robots!

I wish everyone could cut it out with the profanity. It's just vulgar. I don't know what kind of language everyone else uses, but I really can't stand profanity.

I'm all for the 3rd, but then again, I'm in Australia, so 'apparently' we'll be getting it the 28 of June. Which reminds me, BCC/Greater Union have the film length listed at 2 hours 15 minutes.

Thinking someone is stupid just because they choose to use noises you irrationally distaste to express meaning is just lunacy.

Shit. Bitch. Fuck. Damn.-- They're sounds/symbols that don't mean anything except when given meaning by the transceiver and receiver. It is wise to only dislike the feelings or intended purpose behind them if anything, per context, not the words themselves. And, in this case, it's merely being used to denote excitement-- nonthreatening, and not meant to insult. So I would personally suggest you get over it.

EDIT: And, ya, the 3rd's cool-- rationally, seems to make for better sales.

I agree, I really can't stand the phrase at all (for several reasons). I was really diggin' that message until that catch phrase was dusted off again. :(

Anyway, the 3rd and the movie as a whole are looking great so far!

I'm so psyched to see this flick! I'll throw my vote in for seeing it on the third. Hell, getting to see it even one day earlier sounds like a great idea to me! It gives the movie even more time to wow audiences, make the big bucks, and give us hope for more of these booty-kicking, giant effing robots. The third also sounds good for a purely selfish reason...I just want to see the damn movie already!

Avatar of Man, I never called anyone stupid. Where did you pull that from? I swear, I must just bring out the worst in everyone on the internet. Listen, it's like someone spitting on the ground in public. Sure, it's JUST a bodily function -- but it's digusting and offensive to other people. Profanity is the same way. Sure, they're JUST sounds -- but they have derogatory associations, and are disgusting and offensive to other people. If a person wants to be considerate to their fellow man, they should temper their tongue before speaking in public. It's like smoking. I don't care if you do it at home, but I don't want to be breathing in your poisonous cloud of filth. (and when I say "your," I'm talking to thin air -- not you, Avatar :) )

Cheers! You beat me to it. It always gets me when people get irked over words that aren't insulting at all, but are disliked purely on the basis that they are "bad" words for no other reason than someone said they were bad "just because they are."

Thank you. I dropped the f-bomb solely because, as I suppose Mr. Bay did, I am extremely excited and, dare I say it, even emotional about this movie. I never thought I'd see the day we got a cg TF film of this quality, let alone that they would actually be G1 based. When I heard, I'll admit that the thoughts running through my mind were littered with some good old-fashioned sailor talk. It was all positive. Please forgive us our enthusiasm, folks, some of us just can't contain it.

On the swearing thing (which is being beaten to death), I didn't have that big of a problem with how Bay used the word the first time in the update. It’s informal and he's just excited (and wants others to realize this). May not be the best way to address everyone, but it works for most.

Though, the whole "giant f-ing robots" thing just doesn't work for me. It's just swearing for the sake of swearing and isn’t really needed (nor does it really make sense). As hinted about in another post in this thread, one way this can be taken is that giant love-starved robots are coming to Earth to get it on with all the ladies. 8)

Yes, yes, I know this isn’t what Bay was going for, but c’mon…...

Cool. If they want to release it early, I'll go see it even earlier. I doubt that will happen though. Otherwise they've wasted alot of money on the 7.4.7 campaign. Even the real gear toys make reference to it!

It's perfectly okay to say poopoo, dookie, feces, excrement, dung, doodoo but God forbid anybody says shit! No no no! All those words descibe the same exact thing but ONLY ONE is bad!!! Simply illogical!

I'll go see it as soon as it comes out, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, whatever, I'm there!

As compared to what? The witty and eloquent reparte' of the cartoon? LOL

7.3.7 looks just as good as 7.4.7. Bring it on! The downside is I already had my day planned: Weird Al at Summerfest July 3rd the the midnight 7.4.7 showing of TF...the best laid plans I suppose....
Re: Message from Michael Bay (125672)
Posted by Sunstar on May 18th, 2007 @ 1:01am CDT
my point is, and I swear quite profusely, is that I just...do not like the giant f-ing robots phrase. I never have.

Bay can say it all he wants, you can say it all you want I just personally dislike it and vocalised that dislike.

It has nothing to do with my general like/dislike of profanity. The F word does not bother me, frag I use it all the time...though I tend to use frag and slag more than the originals.

Mind you now I think about it I cannot think of a more "exited" way to say Giant Robots is coming. Giant Honking Robots make me think of a flock of metalic geese. I suppose in this case I just don't find the usage really necessary.

Rules and standards here mate. Seems you just broke them.

Seriously, what kind of reaction is that to someone's personal opinion? I myself could argue against Kalon's view of the film, as I love it, but that is his opinion, and you should respect it. I am also against the illegal downloading of the film, but I do not reinforce my point by telling him to have sexual relations with his mother.

Yay you. You massive contradiction there makes you sound foolish. Like the flick or not, why take the time type that, the bitterness for this movie is old, and it makes it look like you're trolling.

On topic, 7-3-7 or 7-4-7 don't matter to me, I'm so there.

They might have also listened to fans if they include the original transformation noise, and maybe the red/blue optics issue.

All that I like, I like that he's holding back in the trailers, I also like the action that I'm seeing.

Still not liking the designs, but that aside, it looks like he's off to a good start here.

Now about the 3rd, thats fine and all, but do you think they'll go change all the 7.4 stickers on the RealGear figures :-?
Re: Message from Michael Bay (125965)
Posted by Black Bumblebee on May 18th, 2007 @ 7:28am CDT
Of course, this "could" be all part of a planned marketing campaign, another way to get it on the news.

"AP Wire: After release of a trailer on yahoo.com, fans were so excited to see the movie, that a movement was begun to get the date of the movie set back earlier, regardless of the large marketing campaign to have it released on July 4th. Such an event has never occurred before, and just shows how eager fans of the movie are to see.. , etc., etc."

When it comes to "big" Hollywood, I suspect that every move such as this is well thought out.

I dont care when I get to see it, as long as I get to see it without a bunch of annoying little muppets talking through it like in Spidey 3. I probably will leave it a week or so anyway. It'll be quiter. Although, schoolkids may still be at school. Ah screw it. Release it on the 8th June so I can see it without having to worry about exams! Bring on the transforming goodness!
