Loopaza confirmed it in their rundown of upcoming Takara releases in May and August which show which also show which toys from the Siege line will come out in that time. The prices are all MSRP.
We also have domestice preorders up for those who can't wait for this new Prime. Both BBTS and TFSource have this toy priced at $449.99:
BBTS: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/ ... ails/84183

Aside from the trailer, here is the list of accessories the toy is said to come with according to a post on Weibo. Since this is translated from chinese, there may be some parts lost in translation, the words in parenthese are a possible interpretation.

I'll hazard a guess that MP-40~something Starscream is around the corner and will feature the same head this Optimus Prime toy does...

But HOT DAMN that’s some serious dough.
Posted by Coptur on November 28th, 2018 @ 9:46am CST
i'm not pay that kind of money for 1 toy.
Optimus Prime didn't need re-doing why not put money into Reflector or someone else. (oh yeah Optimus sells )
i hope either a non jingles and jangles version gets release later on or this this will mark the end of masterpiece as a line.
if we want this line to continue the wider fan should protest/boycot this toy they wet everyone lips with BW Megatron and now they're taking us for a ride.

They crossed it at a price range between 250-300 for this version.
With shippingcost this is just too ludicrous high priced.
I have mp01 and 10 and I'll wait for a price drop and otherwise I rather spend my money on vacation.

Also, i'm not sure about you guys but i wasn't expecting this thing to be carbot priced.
He's large and easily more complicated than MP-10 by the looks of him. He also features a sound unit and a large trailer AND also comes with a large list of accessories.
On top of it all, he's probably covered in a large amount of paint. Considering MP-41's and -43's prices, it's entirely expected that he'd be expensive.
Ofcourse that doesn't mean he's easily affordable, and i respect people saying they won't be getting this because of the price, but what were you expecting price-wise? $100? $200? Given the amount of plastic alone, we should have expected a much higher price than MP-43.
Ofcourse i'm open to discussion, but i don't think what i'm saying is unrealistic.
As for my opinion on him: I'm looking forward to seeing more photos of him, he'll definitely be added to the collection. MP is my main collection and they're not exactly releasing hordes of them at the same time, the way they do Generations and Studio Series, which may be cheaper individually but come in much larger amounts.

I disagree there. The previous Masterpiece Optimus Prime toys looked out of place when put up against Megatron, Shockwave or Sunstreaker. I'll agree that MP-10 is an excellent toy, but its no longer in keeping with what Takara are going for and since Prime\Convoy is the posterboy of the entire franchise, it would be odd to keep the old aesthetic going on.
The price, however, is mental. I'd expect Hasbro to pick this figure up and do some justice on the price front, though.

MP-01/MP-04, maybe, but that's because MP-01 is out of scale with everything but MP-05 and both of those figures suck. MP-05 omits the stock and silencer, has trouble standing, is very fiddly and frail in spots because of the designer reinventing the wheel, and has rust problems. MP-01 can't bend forward at the waist, and MP-04 omits Roller.
I've seen photos of MP-10 with the newer Masterpieces like MP-36 Megatron (who IMO still reinvents the wheel too much), and he holds up just fine. Really the only thing about him that needs work is the realism of the truck cab's bed, which MP-44 does not exactly look to be an improvement on. In fact, MP-44's truck bed looks about as convincingly disguised as Studio Series Optimus'. Also, if MP-44's larger size is indicative of a scale shift, then it's not "bringing Optimus up to the new standard" at all.

I'm still going to buy one but I'm going to feel bad about it. Will just have to set some aside ahead of time, but I know a lot of collectors do not have the means, desire, or both to do that which sucks. The Starscream props are completely unnecessary IMO. Stick to the must-have pieces, Takara.
I wonder if Takara is aware that there are two upcoming unlicensed alternatives to MP-44. (Transform Element TE-01 + MS-TOYS MS-01.) That more or less try to achieve the same thing -- a more cartoon-accurate MP Prime.

Will have to think about it. Maybe sell the Takara version of MP-10, even though the colours are really nice. No point, I guess, in having MP-44 and two MP-tens.

Yes?
Or perhaps:
No, but aren’t the accessories fun? My only gripe with MP-36 is that there’s only two battle-damage parts to swap out.
I’m not trying to justify the price, mind you. Just the accessories.
Posted by no-one on November 28th, 2018 @ 12:18pm CST
Yes, but I leave 99% in the box or stored away (including weapons). So YMMV.Nemesis Maximo wrote:No, but aren’t the accessories fun?
I agree, if you're going to do battle damage swap out parts, go all in or don't bother. It looks weird when it's just a few parts or just a random swath of paint (looking at you Siege and beating a dead horse). My only gripe with MP-36 is that there’s only two battle-damage parts to swap out.

Shockwave's mini-me gun was also a one-time thing, but it's a gun, he can use it all the time. What are fans supposed to do with the Starscream stuff? Apply them once, take a picture and then what? You know what I mean?
If these obscure props increase the price significantly then I say leave them out, if not, sure, throw them in. Who knows, maybe the Starscream head is compatible with MP-11. Although that has grown on me from some angles. Particularly when you push it forward and lean it to the side.
Re: Megatron's battle damage parts -- I think Takara's done a great job. I don't know how they could have incorporated more, being that MP Megatron is made up of a gazillion moving parts.

- The Energon Axe
- His Rifle
- His Trailer\Combat Deck
- Roller
- Matrix
- Megatron Pistol
Other thoughts
- His two different heads between the early episodes and later ones
- Battle damage
Also... the jetpack. That should have been with Sideswipe, with it being designed in a way that meant Optimus Prime could use it. I could understand if they're doing the Dinobot Island jetpack, though.

Wow, while I was excited to hear about the update to the mold, this price point is waaaaaaayyyyyyyy to preposterous for me to even consider. This is more than double what the MP10 was at launch... At this point, I would rather them not make it than to offer it to us at such an absurd cost. I have a few concerns, chief among them is the establishment of a precedence that they can keep raising prices and we'll just keep forking over the money. I realize that there will be some people who will be able to rationalize this expense and some already have but I hope this blows up in Takara's face. I couldn't care less about all the accessories that this will come with, just more crap to keep up with or lose, misplace, etc... The recent reveals, Beast Wars Megatron - $319, even MP36 was the first to break the $200 mark - people bitched and moaned about that then. I see this upward trend in new official releases with their MSRP gradually climbing then jumping to almost double what they were just a few years ago. MP10 was around $180 MSRP for years, he came with a trailer, roller, spike, matrix, axe and blaster - more than half of the new accessories of this new MP44. Another concern is that Takara is pushing their fans further and further into knock-off territory with each reveal and preorder.
The market will bear whatever people are willing to pay, so I say don't pre-order this - yet... Lets see if the price mysteriously drops or they can trim some of the extra accessories that nobody asked for or better yet, put those in an add on pack or something...

If the accessories meant that this would be the end-all-be-all (at least for more than ~8 years this time) Optimus Prime then I'd be inclined to say the more the merrier. Go ultra obscure, ".5 seconds of screentime Star Wars cantina background character" level stupid with it.carytheone wrote:That also seems to be the new deal, just tossing random **** in a box. This is how collectors justify any insane price. It comes with a lot of tiny plastic accessories that don't necessitate that ridiculous price.
Look at the amount of plastic & size of these. And look how much cheaper they are.

Dumbass collectors paid the stupid prices Takara charged for the Diaclone Reboot line & now it has been passed along to Transformers.
They're going to keep pushing the prices up as long as idiots pay it. In a year or two they'll be up to $950. If I were Takara I would do the same thing. Keep raising the prices just to see how high the morons are willing to go.

You know how I spent my morning? Pricing out some giant 3P MP figures (Omega Supreme) that were CHEAPER than this new thing. Sorry Burn about the 3P off-topic'ing. But it really puts the price into perspective.
When these MP prices started causing concern (I'd say with V2 Megs, Dinobot, and BW Megs) my feelings were "damn.... tough pill but still doable". This guy though.... might be the final straw. Because for a guy like me, it's not just MP-44. It'll be MP-44B, and MP-44SG, and MP-44 BAPE, and MP-44 Ghost-Busters edition, and so on. I knew a new Prime mold would mean another slew of repaints, but that cost makes me question the future of my MP collecting

For me, it's pretty much a straight up no, simply because of the cost.
Factor in dollar conversion, plus the 10% GST we now get levied on our imports, plus freight ... it is literally my entire post-tax weekly pay.
And if this is the path they're going, well, unless I win the lottery that can set me up for life, I'm out.
