I watched Amazon pull their listing, right as I was going to pre-order. I tried navigating the Japanese Amazon site, only to find out they won't ship to the USA on pre-orders.
Right as this came out in Japan I managed to convince my visiting uncle to pick one up for me, and I should hopefully be getting it today. Only to find that Amazon has reposted the listing...
The only benefit to this is the fact that my uncle might still give me free shipping, and I might still get it sooner than if I had ordered it off Amazon.

As long as Amazon keeps him in stock and doesn’t scalp with resellers. Half tempted to ask bbts for some adjustment in store credit (but I assume their stock came from overseas, hence the price jump) -_-“

Otherwise, I'll just pretend the toes that stick out are one of those extra tall bumpers on trucks that have the built in steps for loading and unloading the bed. Yep, that's what they are, and not kibble.

Are you sure about this? I have MP-43 on Pre-order from them with a US address and all is good here.
Also guys, I think a lot of you bought the Takara Release (identical to the Hasbro one) on BBTs/TFsource and such, and this is the official stateside Hasbro release, hence the money differences.
It's why I waited for this, I knew we would get it here somehow. But I was expecting HTS, considering it was supposed to be an HTS exclusive. And it's been so odd too cause he was supposed to come out last August and Amazon had pre-orders up then that disappeared not long after

It wouldn't, at least where I live...
My mailing has been messed up since the USPS tried to close my post office, which removed my address from almost all USPS databases, so most stores and the like often claim that my mailing address doesn't exist.
That might have been the issue...

I'm either lucky or doing something wrong (don't discount that as possible!) but I don't have any problems with the bot mode.Acolyte wrote:I would be REALLY curious to know if someone has figured out the whole shoulder-looseness issue. Is there a tab solution or transformation step missing that gets the entire figure to come together solidly in the upper body? If not, this is a hard pass for me, which is disappointing, since I have considered the MPM's to be more cost-effective to collect than the MP's (reasonably true statement, and enough people seem to hate on the Bayverse styling that I find them HEAVILY discounted each Thanksgiving). The QC on every figure I've ordered has been questionable or outright disastrous though, with the exception of MPM-7, so unless I see Hastak turn a corner here I'm probably done with MPM for the foreseeable future.
Getting this thing into truck mode is a tabby, panel massage disaster mess of frustration, but at least it can get there unlike MPM-4. The instructions for the front of the truck are awful, watch a video. It still won't make it fun to transform, or help you get every tab in place securely (especially the back of the roof), but it will save you some time. I find it telling that the stock photos above also don't have truck mode completely secure.

I will say he is a lot bigger and heavier than I was expecting. That was a pleasant surprise.

This figure is larger and heavier than I imagined with amazing detail that's much more impressive in hand than viewing online. I'm glad to add it to my collection at this great price!

Why? Trying to get his shoulders to lock in, and the folded side panels do not clip into his wrists like they are supposed to.
So very frustrating, as its a great looking mold with excellent size.

RE the shoulders, did you try the ScottyP method from the last podcast?

You'll need to go to the MPM-6 section of this podcast to listen to the description proper:

Basically, MPM-6 Ironhide has shoulders that are not even, the right sits higher than the left as that is how he appeared in the movies, with a strange slight hunched stance. Once you figure out the shoulders are A-symmetrical in appearance and in inner tooling, it is supposed to help a lot

Cool! I never noticed how Ironhide has a Cybertronian/NBE version of scoliosis!
Haven't transformed mine, but I've gotten the shoulders to kinda sit/lock in place based off his bumper front. This allows his arms to be posed without some gaps or deviating too much from the CGI in the movie. Still working on a good action display pose, as well as a shelf to display him on.

I just ordered mine from amazon. $61 after a Christmas party winning Amazon card and since it'll be my birthday gift to myself, it seemed like a good price.

That IS a good price. I still don't regret mine from Japan, as he is quite the lovely figure.
Just an FYI, which I don't know if anyone else has had this tightness, but watch out when you go to move his arms. The "shoulders" (read part that his arms come off of in the back) are almost afraid to pose tight, but when the ratcheting clicks those arms don't flop around ...unlike Roadrage's right shin...

I wish the MPM looked a little more like the Studio Series one, with the more hunched shoulder pieces and stability, but I'm excited for him!
I want to try to recreate his first Transformation in RotF. That was a cool shot

Otherwise, good pose idea I'm still thinking on mine. I still really love the Mexican standoff scene in DOTM, but it shall wait until I have the shelf space.

Ironhidensh wrote:How big a fail was this guy? He is going for the super low price of (approximately) $52 on Amazon Japan. Cheaper than both MPM bumblebee's.
It's a figure that looks good in both modes, and that's it. Transformation looks like a nightmare, and things not tabbing in to where they're supposed to is incredibly annoying.
For $52, I'd say go for it if you like the character or the design. Otherwise, just get the Studio Series version with the upgrades. Not only are you getting a better figure, but you also get a much more stable one as well
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on May 30th, 2019 @ 10:26pm CDT
Might be worth it at $52, since as far as a big movieverse Ironhide goes he seems better proportioned at least slightly less partial-donkeyed than DotM Leader Ironhide.

Same! We need Ratchet to finish the first movie bots!

Starting off, the figure looks great in both modes. Transforming the front section of the truck gets real annoying after a while though, trying to get everything lined up. I was finally able to get pretty close:
Robot mode, again, looks really good! It’s just that the issues with the truck halves not tabbing in anywhere make posing the arms difficult, and the arm panels don’t really connect to the arms securely. This isn’t a problem for the left arm, where the joint on the arm panel is strong enough to support the weight of the cannon. On the other arm though, it’s loose enough that when the cannon is attached it’s very difficult for it to stay close to the arm.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely glad I bought it, but I’m also a huge fan of Movie Ironhide and it was at a good price (45$). If you’re a fan of Movie Ironhide and you can get it for a price around there and you plan on getting some of the other MPMs, I would go for it. However, he’s not on the level of MPM-3 Bumblebee which is super accurate in both modes while also being stable and fun to transform.
If you’re not super into movie Ironhide, you can’t find him at a good price, or you don’t plan on getting any of the other MPMs, go for the Studio Series Ironhide. It does a lot of things better, like cannons which look more integrated into the arms, a chest that locks into place, and no loose parts.
With all that said though, I’m still glad I got it and if I get more MPMs like Ratchet and Starscream in the future, I’ll be really happy to have Ironhide (and Bumblebee) displayed with them.

I do love movie Ironhide and his design. I wish they had executed better with this one. It's also sad that the SS one is actually better
