Thanks to Seibertronian and news staffer William-James88 we are able to share with you an article on the upcoming film. Collider.com did an interview with the one and only John Cena and Director Travis Knight about Bumblebee: The movie. One interesting thing that can be learned from this is that there will supposedly be some Easter eggs relating to the Bay flicks.

In Travis Knight's interview he mentions that he grew up with Transformers and had some figures. He also tells us that there is a more limited cast of characters. John Cena is a little harder to hear but he is familiar with Transformers and claims to have owned some growing up. He sounds excited and wants to keep from spoiling which characters will be in the movie because he thinks it will be more exciting for the fans to be surprised.

Anyone else find it odd that we're nearly halfway through the year and barely any marketing material has been shown for this film? I dunno maybe other films have just been spoiling us lately.

I think it's a little early for marketing material considering it comes out in December. The hype will probably start at the end of summer or so I would think. There's been some big movies in the sci-fi action genre lately - Black Panther and Infinity War to name two. If it were me marketing this film I'd wait till at least July/August to advertise.

Via specialised site for cinema music Film Music Reporter, and one of their brief updates, we have news about who will be scoring the next - and for now last in this narrative universe - Paramount live action movie featuring the Transformers: Bumblebee The Movie.

According to the source, composer Dario Marianelli - who has worked on Kubo and The Two Strings with director Travis Knight previously - will be taking the helm for the score, though we are also to expect some 80s style rock according to previous coverage and initial images from the movie (if going by Hailee Steinfeld's attire, in any case, and Bumblebee's direction for vocal interaction via radio snippets). Check out more info below!

Dario Marianelli has been tapped to score the upcoming Transformers spinoff Bumblebee. The film is directed by Travis Knight and stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Rachel Crow, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Schneider, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn and Grace Dzienny. The movie is set in 1987 and follows a teenage girl trying to find her place in the world as she discovers Bumblebee refuged in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Christina Hodson (Unforgettable, Shut In) wrote the screenplay. Michael Bay who helmed all the previous Transformers movies (scored by Steve Jablonsky) is producing the project with Knight, Lorenzo di Bonaventura (RED, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and Stephen Davis (Ouija: Origin of Evil). Marianelli has previously collaborated with Knight on LAIKA’s 2016 feature Kubo and the Two Strings. Bumblebee is set to be released on December 21, 2018 by Paramount Pictures.

Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, V for Vendetta, Anna Karenina) has also recently scored the Italian drama Nome di donna, which opened in Italian theaters this past March. No word yet on a domestic release.

TBH the Bumblebee Movie looks really promising so far. The composer is decent and the movie doesn't raise any red flags so far. The trailer I've heard was really good. I'm just waiting for a trailer release to make my final say. I'm obviously gonna see it tho

Of all we've heard of it so far sounds like what I originally imagined (and kinda wanted) what the first movie from 2007 would be like.

I've heard that one before.

I really don't understand why they are trying to end Bayverse, yet they are wasting time and money on this stillborn zombie.

What do you mean trying? Bumblebee is the last movie set there. As to why they didn't can this, well, they had already pumped the money into it so might as well see it through, at the very least we'll see what happens when you have someone else in charge.

We have a new piece of vital news for those following the vital updates on this story - a new logo change / reveal for the Bumblebee movie, at least in terms of the licensed and toy products associated with the Transformers live action spin-off feature.

You'll remember we initially had the angry bee logo showing up for a numeber of stories, including this one here, and that seemed to be it; a recent post then showed a cleaner version for products, with the second B capitalised as the first. It looks like this latter style is the one used by Hasbro during the Licensing Expo 2018, according to the event's Twitter account, and you can check it out below!

This piece of live-action news may have also been skimmed over in the past week, but with the first actual trailer for the Paramount Transformers universe Bumblebee Movie due out this Tuesday 5th June, it's definitely worth covering!

Via KidsCoolIt website, in which kids do the reporting and framing, we get some type of confirmation that Barricade - the villainous character that first approaches the human cast in the 2007 live action movie - will be back (?) in the 80s set prequel this Christmas, as his voice actor Jess Harnell is introduced as such and answers a couple of fan questions; check out the clip below, and let us know your thoughts in the Energon Pub discussion boards!

Oh I mentioned that in the Studio Series thread a week ago but didn't realise it hadnt been a news thing til now. Trailers up by the way. :)

NOt sure i like Bee's new robot design. Bit too basic for me but eh it's still my Bee. Starscream looks neat (if a bit too G1 for my tastes but that should please some folk). Movie looks fun but they I've enjoyed all the 5 main ones too so that's just me. :)

I've been watching it on loop for past 20 mins (warming to Bee's new design now even if it is more kiddy-robot than the more badass design he had before but that makes sense even if just cos this is in the 80s). I do love how she's looking under the car and finds his eyes and they light up and he transforms. That's a neat transformation scene. Time being confirmed as latter half of 1987 by Rick Astley. :P

In this two minute clip fans will notice a difference in the atmosphere of this film in comparison to the past five live-action films directed by Michael Bay. Instead of the rough, action packed flicks we are used to this preview seems to hint at a sense of wonder. Have a look and tell us what you think!

I'm getting rick roll'd and its 2018!

I'll admit I have some hopes for this flick. It looks like its got some real potential. It has a good sense of wonder. Kinda makes me think of ET in a way. I like TF series better where Transformers are sentient robots rather than just war machines. I love a good robot fight but its the characters that draw me in and keep my interest in the series.

If they can make this movie as good as the trailer makes it look we could have a major success. I think it does matter how they advertise too. Make sure people know the movie is different from the previous five so they don't dismiss it.

You are welcome. Gave you the news credit as a kudos since you probably technically found it first.

I learned a long time ago not to get excited by trailers. I normally don’t even bother watching them. I obviously made an exception here though. I really want this to be good. It’s hard not to get excited seeing a smaller, more classic looking Bumblebee, and a Starscream that harkens back a little more to his G1 design. That face looks great.

It took me a long, long time to come around to Starscream’s movie design, but I’ve come to really appreciate it for its uniqueness. That being said, I’m very glad to see this new design. Now let’s just hope he isn’t spewing oil and lubricant everywhere.

I'm all hyped and now have the urge to buy another Studio Series figure even though I told myself no more for a while cos I've bought 8 in the past couple months (including one Leader and three voyagers) and I have no job but damn I want another now, most likely Stinger cos haven't got that one yet but i liked it when my friend was showing it to me. Anyways, off out. I've copied the trailer to my phone. I frickin' love the Transformers live action movies more than any other TF fiction so I'm in a good mood today. Have a good day, folks! The trailer looks AWESOME :-D ......better the I expected. It seems to have a touch of the Bay-verse , with some welcome freshness to the franchise. Just like the design of Bumblebee :BOT: himself, combining a few elements from the past movies (or is that future movies since this is a prequel) with some G1 awesomeness throw in.
Also whom ever that jet is (yeah I know who everyone thinks it is) he looks super cool.
BTW......Has it been officially stated that it is Starscream :CON: , or is this just a presumption everyone has?
Just curious.

The trailer is promising - and so far seems to have a bit of heart to it, something the previous 4 movies lacked. the director has quite the pedigree and hopefully this won't disappoint.

Only g1 fanboy complaint I have is that ss appears to be an f4 rather than an f15 ah well...

Have to agree with you, doesnt look great, and its easy to make films look great in trailers.

That said its only a teaser. Will need to be a big improvement on the BayVerse to enthuse me.

Hmmm.....I've noticed that Bee does act a bit different in this movie. What happened to ZB-7?
Then again, if the "reboot or reset" is going in this direction I suppose this could just be trivial matter? Maybe? (That's probably the bayverse fan in me speaking, that verse will still be pretty cool to me) ;)

Anyway, definitely dig this! It does looks something new and pretty interesting! Like most too, Screamer (presumably?) is awesome! ;)^

And...hopefully, there will still at least be some explosions in this film...but that's just me hahaha :michaelbay:

So the Bumblebee movie actually looks like it could be good, surprisingly.

The use of the car salesman quote from the 1st movie as the inspirational narration was utterly bizarre. Yet, it kind of worked.

I like the more gentle tone of the movie, which fits Bumblebaby, and the music is refreshing to hear after the more serious music in the other trailers. While I had a feeling that'd be a more modernized 80s alien and prodigy child movie, as soon as I saw Starscream looking like his G1 self, I kind of felt a bit sick in my stomach. I knew that it was going to be in the 80s, but I didn't want to see Movie characters in G1 alt modes or colors (part of me now feels purists will like the movie just because it alludes to their precious childhood). Now I'm going to have to witness a Barricade colored like Prowl and an Optimus that looks like his flat nose truck (which won't be as neat as the rusty truck if I'm honest).

I may sound negative, but I don't want it to be a G1 jizzfest too much. Make references if you need to, but don't do it constantly. :BANG_HEAD:

One thing that caught me by surprise was Bobby Bolivia's "Driver don't pick the car. Car pick the driver" line. Not groundbreaking as some will think I'd see it as, but kudos for referencing Sam buying Bee!

I thought the trailer was pretty good! The CGI could use some polishing, but that’s usually the case with the teasers. Some notes:

- Bee is SHORT. He’s about 16-18 feet in the other movies and in here he looks closer to 9 feet.

- Is this the first in-universe case of visible head syndrome?

- So glad to hear Bee’s unique transformation noise! It’s good that the sound design is being kept constant.

- I do wish Bee’s design had retained a bit more of the complexity of the usual movie designs. I do like it, but it looks like it’s more from Prime than the movies. Glad he’s still got the mask though!

- Starscream isn’t an F-15! Based on this shot he’s an F-4 Phantom, the same alt. mode as G1 Fireflight.

Oh look! He's so scared & vulnerable & defenseless. And he's so cute like a scared little Mogwai. Poor widdle guy! Just wanna hug him & squeeze him & cuddle him like a cute widdle kitten. Little girls everywhere are going to love this movie. From indestructible badass Autobot warrior (which was only supposed to be a scout) that kicked more ass than all the other Autobots combined to this frightened, fragile little puppy.

We better tell all the stores to move Transformers toys into the little girls aisle next to the Barbies & plush unicorns. Because look at him. He's just so precious! That girl needs to repaint him pink & put a big bow on him with some unicorn & rainbow stickers & some glitter. Then this movie will be perfect!

Awwww, come here little guy, I won't hurt you! You don't need to be frightened of a little Earth girl. You've been fighting in the wars on Cybertron for centuries but I bet you never saw anything as scary as an Earth girl before. All that training & experience in the brutal war against Megatron never prepared you for the horrible & terrifying school girls from Earth.

Same can be said cartoon series Optimus being fire truck no complaints about that but prime not being flat nose truck people complain same with how bots look and there faces no complains about different cartoon looks of classic characters but they do complain about how they look in movies do you see pattern I saw pattern when revenge of fallen was being made let’s give sound wave, and shockwave human faces in comics if people complaining about them in movies again.,

Point of movies is to not make bots to cartoony to push new fans away to please old fans it’s to make it look realistic looking have them bring in new fans same with comic book characters wolverine don’t wear mask that make childish and to kiddish to bring in new comic book fans to comic books to get them into reading comic books trailer looks good but yeah bumblebee is smaller but this movies it looks some of bots in movies can change there size little to fit to form vehicale mode they choose.,

As movie fan transformers fan I will see this movie
