A couple of updates from the world of the Transformers Bumblebee Movie - the sixth to be produced and released, but yet unsure if the sixth in the series (even as a prequel, it's believed more and more this may be part of a new narrative timeline) - in the form of a new interview with screenwriter Christina Hodson courtesy of Den of Geek.

“I always wanted to see me be the hero,” Hodson says. “I wanted to see me kick ass. I mean, not literally. I had no desire to be an actor, but I wanted to have those role models and those heroes. I think what's really fun is that [Bumblebee] is a big, cool, fun, action movie the boys are going to love, but girls love action, too, and this is a chance for girls to see themselves in the movie. Which I think is a really special and important thing.”

[...]

“Charlie is really our entry point into the movie. She doesn't know anything about Transformers,” says Hodson, calling Bumblebee “custom-made for people who are new to the franchise.” “But, of course, if you're a fan, you'll get wonderful little Easter eggs that you'll get to enjoy that other people won't.”

The prequel film offers a chance to get to see the Bumblebee character, who Hodson admits has always been her favorite, in a new light.

“This is really an origin story for Bumblebee,” she says, “but the character traits are all the same. They're all there. His loyalty, his kindness. He's fun-loving and really he's been the one who has always had that special bond with humans, whether it's Sam or someone else; that was something that I wanted to lean into a bit and see where and how that began.”

Additionally, we also learn of some reshoots happening for the movie, with cast members Hailee Steinfeld and Jason Drucker (Charlie and Otis Watson) as well as the Volkswagen alt-mode for the titular character, as per the actors' Instagram stories.

According to main cast member of the human side of Transformers Bumblebee Movie, due out in cinemas worldwide from this December, there may be more than just her acting skills at play in the sixth live action instalment in the Paramount series (though perhaps the start of a new series, after all).

Take it with as much salt as you want, as it's a very vague tweet, but in announcing her hosting duties for the MTV Europe Music Awards in Bilbao, Spain, taking place on 4th November, she also hinted at performing a new song from her other life as a successful pop artist. And via a screenshot - via TFW2005 user Transformers Database - of a now deleted tweet from Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic fame, there may be even more to the piece than hinted at. Join the speculation in the Energon Pub!

I am SO excited to announce that I will be HOSTING the 2018 MTV EMA’s in Bilbao!!! I might just have to perform a new song while I’m there. I can’t wait my loves! #MTVEMA @mtvema

I use photoshop a lot and I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "weirdness"? It seems like the average use of photoshop for promotional materials.

On a more serious note - I might actually bother to see this movie in the pictures. I didn't on any others after the 2007 one and the Bumblebee movie looks (at least) some step in the right direction.

If you consider that AoE and TLK opted for more smooth and humanoid designs, this actually fits. I admit I was confused at first, but once I realized it was real I was so so happy.

People, this is a reboot. Call it that or not, they're TRYING to break continuity of design. Remember when Marvel redesigned Hulk in the MCU? Yes Tony Stark appeared in The Incredible Hulk, and just like with this Transformers movie, Marvel intentionally forgot about that movie's ideas and designs WITHOUT ruining the plot continuity too much, EVEN with the change of an actor for Bruce Banner. I think a series of giant TRANSFORMING METAL ROBOTS who can CHANGE THEIR DESIGNS PURPOSEFULLY makes MUCH more sense to experiment with, and can work beautifully.

Plus this is an incredible way to kickstart the possibility of successful Transformers movies once again by adding LITERAL familiar faces to make jaded fans to the movies become more curious, AND to draw many new fans into the brand as a whole by giving them a big screen representation (or remake) of that original cartoon in a way. It works, and it works beautifully, regardless of everyone who don't want their pissing and swearing messes of metal to be touched with the ichiness of those horrrrribly outdaaated Saturday morning caartewwns. :-B (And yes, I do enjoy SOME of the movie designs. Hell, I loved Dark of the Moon.)

Also shatup, Astrotrain looks awesome. Image

Isn't it a little late for that?

What are they gonna do just suddenly take it out of the movie? Go back in time to change it?

As much as I like the previous films we have had 5 films for us, I think it's time for a little fanservice for those who haven't had a live action version of the G1 designs.

Preach it.

Empire Online has managed to get a hold of yet another still from the upcoming Bumblebee movie, and if you thought Bee would be the only cute on in the movie, you might just be wrong.

This still features Bumblebee meeting Charlie's dog, Conan (yes, Conan), and the still is accompanied by some commentary indication Bumblebee is trying to understand what a dog is and how to communicate with him. We have had very few cute characters and moments in the films to date, and this movie appears to be piling it on.

The Bumblebee movie is set to release on December 21 of this year, and we have plenty of indications that this will be an entirely new type of movie complete with a lot of cute stuff, a lot of heart, a pinch of nostalgia, and maybe a really good story and movie altogether.

Check out the still below, along with the accompanying text, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Image

Named after Arnie’s iconic action hero (“with the proper pronunciation like the awesome Barbarian, not the awesome talk-show host,” confirms director Travis Knight), the canine companion is just another thing for Bumblebee to try and get his metal head around when he joins forces with Charlie. “When Bumblebee encounters this creature, he tries to figure out how to communicate with him,” Knight tells Empire in the upcoming Review of the Year issue. “Him just trying to exist in a normal human domicile does not go very well.”

From the trailers, Bumblebee is looking like a warmer, more Amblin-esque entry into the series, and is the first live-action Transformers movie not to be directed by Michael Bay. Read Empire’s Bumblebee trailer breakdown with Travis Knight here, and read plenty more about the film in the December issue of Empire, on sale on 1 November.

So I remember saying during the whole craze of the G1 designs that the protoforms we say in the first movie were probably forms they adapted for travel and not their actual cybertronian forms. And it turns out I'm partially right: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transition_form This actually gives a canon explanation as to how we can have G1 style Cybertronian forms despite their appearance in the first movie.

That page is talking about specifically the comet/meteor modes as the Transition forms, not the rocky robot modes of the Protoforms.

Why does any of this matter? We already know that they can change their looks, so the fact that they once looked different really doesnt need any explanation.

If steve jablonsky is scoring, it could be featured somewhere in the movie. He is one of the few composers who insists on integrating pop music partners into his score. He did it in all five of the movies with goo goo dolls, linkin park and imagine dragons. He detests when songs are recorded for a movie and then wasted in the credits or trailers.

We have a pair of news for you regarding the upcoming Bumblebee movie today.

The first news is regarding Hailee Sheinfeld and her new song 'Back to Life', which is set to be playing in the Bumblebee movie coming out in December. Steinfeld hosted this years MTV EMA Awards, and during the show, she performed her new song for the first time.

To make this Awards show even better, it aired a brand new TV spot for the Bumblebee movie, a 1-minute long commercial in Spanish. This new TV spot mostly reuses scenes we have seen in other trailers, but it does contain some new scenes. Among the new things are a few more scenes of the Cybertron setting, including what appears to be Thundercracker getting smacked down by Optimus Prime. We also see a shot of Bumblebee attempting to toilet paper a house, and not really getting the idea. It does appear to be a shortened version of our standard 2 minute commercials, which lines up with the news of a final trailer getting ready to drop here soon.

Check out both videos below, and let us know what you think of them in the comments section below!

Thanks to the UIP Singapore Youtube Channel, we have our 2nd TV spot for the upcoming Bumblebee movie. This new TV spot doesn't show us anything particularly noteworthy, appearing more as a shorter version of the trailer released in September alongside the official Trailer #2. But this one is free of the subtitles from that trailer. We are still waiting on an English version of the TV #1 released a few days ago.

The Bumblebee movie is directed by Travis Knight and is due out in December right before Christmas. The movie stars Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena, and is centered around the beloved character Bumblebee.

Check out the TV spot below, and let us know what you think of it in the comments section below!

Thanks to the Bumblebee Movie Instagram Account, we have a brand new Bumblebee movie poster to share with you!

This new poster is a drastic departure from the movie posters of the last few years, especially those related to Transformers. This poster features a very clean and non-cluttered appearance, with Bumblebee, Charlie, Agent Burns, and a big Autobot Symbol taking up the majority of the poster. The bottom features the California sunset with the Golden Gate Bridge in full view and Charlie and Bee looking out over the bay area.

Also, a nice subtle addition is the fact that we have Shatter and Dropkick in their aerial forms on the poster, a rarity for the Transformers seeing as how the movies main antagonists are hardly, if ever, on the posters themselves in any way.

There are also slight German and Russian variations on this poster design as well. The German poster includes Blitzwing in jet mode and German in place of English, while the Russian drops Agent Burns and the Decepticons. The German poster was found over at Comic Book Resources.

Check them all out below, and let us know what you think of them in the comments section below!

Thanks to Seibertronian Survivefan23, we have word that the Bumblebee movie has received its official rating, and that rating is PG-13. While this doesn't come as too big of a surprise and it is a small disappointment to those hoping this movie would end up with a PG rating. Considering every live action Transformers movie so far has been PG-13, the rating description is the interesting part of this PG-13 designation.

As many fans will remember, the previous 5 movies included text related to "intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, brief sexual humor, and language." This film, however, only contains the very brief description "Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action violence."

So what this means for the movie is that the only reason this has its PG-13 rating is because of robot fighting time. There are no language concerns nor crude humor to be expected from this movie, meaning this movie is hewing more to its Iron Giant styled description and relying more on playful innocent fun for its humor and enjoyment.

So what do you think of this rating? Let us know in the comments section below!

TITLE:
Bumblebee (2018)
RATING:
PG-13
CERTIFICATE #:

REASON:
Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action violence.

YES! This makes me so happy. I love the previous films but there was so much of that "humor" in it and it really weighed them down. Glad it held on to PG-13 though so we can get some satisfying fight scenes. I'm even more excited now!

If you're gonna call something humor, that indicates that people would find it funny. And I'm pretty sure no one laughed at hearing how statutory rape isn't statutory rape and here is copy of the law I keep in my wallet to prove it. :BANG_HEAD:

On a more serious note, thank God they're finally getting rid of the sexual stuff. It never belonged there in the first place. When you make a movie about a bunch of toys, kids are going to want to see it. I'll gladly take childish Bumblebee pissing on Agent Simmons over pervy Mrs Witwicky blabbing about how she listened to her son have sex.

I’m not little kid I don’t need and never listen to reviews tell what movie I want to see here is what happen when people need reviews tell them what to do in life my father wanted see movies revenant and blade runner two I did not those trailers look boring to me but those two movies received high rating reviews I was boarded out of mind watching reverent and I fell sleep through first half of blade runner two and woke up with headache for music being loud you couldn’t hear people in movie talking that’s how loud music blade runner two received high ratings I did not like both of those movies what is answer that........?

Well if people don’t like humor in transformers movies and sexual jokes what is explanation for people who like marvel movies that have sexual jokes in them guardians of galaxy 2 talking about nipples and penis, Thor ragnarock making joke of dead person who is dead, marvel movies have same comedy from previous transformers movies and are successful but they do not act like in comics and cartoons.

Having comedy in movie or not does not make it good movie Thor 3 had to much comedy I didn’t like it,

I've said that even before TLK (after AoE) and I've been sitting in the cinema's hall sometime in the first two weeks of its release or I think even on its first day because I guess I haven't seen any reviews :HEADHURTS:

But this time I'll definitely wait for some reviews *fingers crossed* [-( :BANG_HEAD:

This comment scares me on so many levels :-?

Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian Survivefan23, we have word that AMC Theatres have revealed the runtime for the upcoming Transformers: Bumblebee movie!

The run time for the movie, as per AMC, is shown to be 1 hour 54 minutes, significantly shorter than the previous movies in the live action universe. with the remaining movies clocking in somewhere near 2 and a half hours. What this means for the quality of the movie is yet to be seen, considering Avengers: Infinity War was a slamming success despite such a long runtime, and the Lord of the Rings movies were also extra long and well received, but other long movies such as Transformers: The Last Knight and Bladerunner 2049 did not really live up to the expectations set for them.

So what does this run time mean for you? Does this excite or disappoint you? Let us know in the comments section below!

Remember that TF spot #1 for Bumblebee that was in Spanish, and we were waiting on an English version of said trailer? Well, that English version has now dropped!

Thanks to the Comicbook.com Youtube channel, we have a new look at the TV spot #1 trailer, which here is revealed to be a full length international trailer as well. This version of the 1 minute long trailer shows us the same content from the previous Spanish version, but is now in English with Spanish subtitles. The trailer includes mostly previously seen footage, plus a shot of what looks like Thundercracker getting beat down by Optimus Prime, and Bumblebee's fun in trying to learn how to toilet paper a house.

Attached to this trailer are a few shorter TV spots as well, the first of which is in English and features a shot of what appears to be Charlie's family, along with a new shot of Shatter shooting her weapon in the same running scene from her and Dropkick's first robot mode images.

Check it all out below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

I'm totally cool with 2 hours. If da story ain't all mucky that "bee" plenty o' time to do a good movie. 'Course it depends on how many bots Hasbro wants to get in the film though, but they keep the flick tight on story and key charicters and don't make it a marketing fest it can totally rock.

Hasbro and Paramount are really going all out on the retro theme of the upcoming Transformers Bumblebee movie. With the Beetle alt mode, the 80s setting and even G1 rereleases sporting original packaging. Well to add to all this we have a new game based on the film available online on the official movie website for everyone to play. This game is made to look like 16 bit games of the past (like the SNES era) and is high score based, you can check my high score below. The idea is that you cannot run low on power and thus you must collect energon cubes, or oil while avoiding obstacles. There is a boss fight at every 5 levels where you will encounter Dropkick or Shatter and they will use both their alt modes.

Give the game a shot and let us know what you think!

This is seriously one of the most fun games I've played in a while. It's just so well done! I wouldn't change a thing, seriously! But I WILL beat that score William! Count on it!
