Looking forward to experience the ladder magic.

Kind of funny how that one-time brief bondage scene is one of the features. :)) Surprised that Takara didn't go with this instead, considering that they went with the crane-appendages for Grapple:

It's a three weekend thing (they did shoot an e-mail to news yesterday) but I'll just see what they do this weekend.

Though seeing what they have in stock, there's nothing I really REALLY want unless it's a damn good mark down.

Finally found a good comparison picture of the 3 MP style Inferno molds available currently on the market. Yes, I know one is grapple, it still works.

From left to right: Maketoys, Takara, and MMC.

Image

If you like the recent dedication to being extremely cartoon accurate, Takara us the way to go. I'm not a fan, so I'll be keeping MMC Backdraft. If I ever see Takara on a good deal though, I'll still pick it up. That ladder magic is impressive.

Taken all together, I like the toy aesthetic of MMC's "Inferno" the best, but I would have to buy both, which I'm not willing to do. Gotta go official if any on Inferno.

Man, I can't wait to get this guy. While I love certain characters, I have an affinity for any of the figures I had when I was a kid.

Soundwave and Buzzsaw *my firsts*, Ultra Magnus, Rodimus Prime, Grimlock, Inferno, Tracks and Shockwave would be must-buys for me, just because they were in my collection back in the day before I could buy whatever I wanted for myself.

Then there were the guys I really wanted but just couldn't get like Optimus Prime, Prowl and Megatron.

Fellow Seibertronian Cyberpath has sent our way a video review of Takara's Masterpiece MP-33 Inferno. It is from site sponsor The Chosen Prime. They give a very detailed rundown of all the features that come with this toy and an extensive comparison to the other MP-styled Inferno toys out there. Finally they provide a great group shot to show how well this toy scales and looks compared with the rest of the line. If you have received yours already please let us know how you find it!

finally received mine and yep, think it's my fave mp so far. My previous top was magnus, but his but flap and lack of transforming cab are 2 negatives whereas so far the only thing i have a problem with is that his faces fly out of the packaging extremely easily. Also have a paint defect but not major. The fact I can opt out of chrome made me very happy. I wish that whoever designed this does a decepticon in the near future as the transformation is awesome and there aren't any things like ironhide's hips where you say to yourself "this could've been done better".

I agree. Just opened mine and had to come on to share a few quick thoughts. While I still think the legs are in need of some much needed line/panel details to make it look a little less cartoony (ala Masterpiece Grapple), I can't express enough how impressed I am by this toy. Every now and then, there's an ingenious new Transformers figure that just blows me away. Masterpiece Wheeljack comes to mind, Masterpiece Prowl, Transformers Prime RID Vehicon (love the accordion style transformation), Transformers Prime First Edition Cliffjumper, and I'm sure there are a few others but those immediately jump out at me as some of my favorites from the past 5 years.

Inferno is now one of those. Not only is there "ladder magic" happening here, part of the "ladder magic" happens extremely early as in the first step or two of his transformation. There are several really cool things going on with him to achieve a realistic vehicle mode and his beautiful robot mode. While the shoulders/upper arms have a very unique transformation going on (once I figure out how to do them), I would advise caution with this part of his transformation as I foresee broken arms on future loose samples of Masterpiece Inferno and Grapple. Still a very clever transformation, as are the various panels on his legs and cab, the hoses repositioning lower in robot mode, etc. He's also very large. I don't have Ironhide out at the moment but I'm assuming he's as tall if not taller than Ironhide.

Masterpiece MP-33 Inferno is a great, great, great figure. I haven't been this excited about a Masterpiece figure since Wheeljack or Prowl, so it's great to see them do something that really amazes me once again, enough so that I have to come on here to share my excitement.

David Copperfield would be impressed.

Just received my Inferno yesterday from Amiami. Still in his awesome firetruck mode and haven't gone to transforming him yet. Awesome truck! Did I say awesome again?
Been doing some fantasy search and rescue with anime Alert (are FDs really that rich to afford a Countach for a Fire Chief first responder?)

Kind of a downer with the more anime-sh approach with the lack of details comparing the original G1 fig but hey......there are some acceptable compromises.

Next target will be Prowl and the other Mazda guys.

One thing I noticed from previous posts, and I mean it with no malice but it seems, first impressions (i.e. product reveals, scoop images of protos, screen caps, etc) tend to always result to the opposite. Which has to my recall always proven true.

WJ was initially labeled as not so Masterpiece level yet the overall consensus is that this is another home run (which I wholeheartedly agree not to mention when you add those official sponsorship decals by OceanDesigns on him and Exhaust and you'll never want to transform them to robot mode). Same with UM and even IH/Ratchet (chrome issues with the latter former notwithstanding).

So it is good to keep an open mind with these and other toylines of the franchise.

P.S. Too bad with Tracks. Way too ambitious that Takara tried to cram too much in such a wee body.

Inferno arrived for me today, been waiting patiently so I could experience the ladder magic.

Not disappointed one bit. His transformation, for lack of a better term, would best be described as "intricate". It's not difficult, there's just lots of little things you could easily miss. Like shifting the flares on the wheel well, not locking the wheels into place in robot mode. Little things that could easily be overlooked.

I swapped out the chrome parts for the white parts, primarily because it looks better, but a smaller reason is the problems others have reported with Ironhides chrome.

Many of have spoken about the ladder, and it truly is brilliant. Multiple points to fold, more so than Alternator Grimlocks hips! The difference is, you can't go wrong with the folding.

The accessories ... so many accessories! I had no idea what the third grill was for until I looked at the instructions. For holding onto Red Alert? sheesh Takara, how much attention to detail do you need to go to?

Overall though, fantastic figure. BUT ... Ironhide still pips him for this years MP figure.

After a second transformation of this guy, these 4 points, to me, are really the most relevant to the enjoyment of the figure.
All individually interesting while adding to an allover feeling of proper execution. :APPLAUSE:

Ironhide was done by Hironori Kobayashi, who seems to be the current main designer after Shogo Hasui. Inferno was probably done by him, or both as they tend to lend eachother a hand like with MP-22 Ultra Magnus.

For some reason Amazon.co.jp wont ship that one specific MP outside of Japan. I wonder why that could be? And if you're wondering, yes, they will ship Megatron.

I have heard there is a cyclical ordering setup on these.
Prime, which allows for US shipping, phases in and out depending on supplier info.
Don't know how particular this is to each MP announcement but worth taking note of.

No problem but there is an English button on the site.
Directly below the bottom right of the search bar.
1 button click and 90% of the data on the site is translated.
Good Luck! ;)^
