We have seen the Head On! feature of the new Transformers Titans Return toyline, right here, and now - thanks to Adam16bit on Tumblr and Twitter - we get a look at the second wave of Titan Masters as they borrow the bodies of wave 1 Deluxes. Feast your plastic hunger on Clobber, Skytread, Brawn and Apeface (to you and me, Grimlock, Flywheels, Brawn and Apeface), and check out some thoughts from Adam below!

Clobber is Grimlock. He’ll make you angry that the last proper G1 “Classics” Dinobot toy was arguably Grimlock Classics 2006. (Platinums, shmatinums.) It’s a redecorated/retooled Crashbash.

Skytread is Flywheels - and boy howdy, is he great. The Terri-Bull mold got new colors and a new faceplate, but that face sculpt is WONDERFUL.

Also wonderful? Brawn. He looks gorgeous in person, but again, no unique body just yet. Customizers will no doubt make great use of these. His vehicle mode ain’t bad, and the weapon mode is gnarly. I like it.

Rounding out the set is the fantastic Apeface. A little gorilla becomes a little jet, and the tiny robot ain’t bad either. The gun mode ain’t bad either.

already have a g1 soundwave :P - my point was that they are giving us one of sound wave's guns, why not both?

titan returns blaster is perhaps my fave release in the line so far.. will end up getting sound wave for completion sake.

And re skull crasher - it appears to be a general design flaw besides QC issues. The hip balljoints just seem to be too big for the scale so they cause the legs to pop off too much during transformation and cause the figure to be very floppy. Tho mine stands ok, him and wheelie (doesn't snap together correctly) are the only ones i avoid transforming at the moment.

Nah, that's not right. Flywheels on someone who doesn't have massive feet? Put him on PM OP.

these pictures help me realize that I will go with cazhbash instead of "grimlock" since I really am not fond the the aesthetic where the face is carved out of a big block in the background. The Flywheels head looks great though.

Apeface is a must, Flywheels is highly tempting, can't wait to find Crashbash... I really ought to get one of the mainline figures so I can actually use the whole head-swapping gimmick. Too bad none of them really appeal to me that much.

I think I want both grimlock and crash bash. That Dino vehicle is too adorable.

I'm 100% in the same boat. The majority of the line is only mildly appealing to me, but I love minicon type gimmicks. Also, the dino body is just really good and actually integrates the headmaster in a way that really matters, unlike the others.

The rest of them are basically just tiny Action Masters.

(Apeface is really good too)

The upper leg ball joints are loose on Skullsmasher. Nothing we haven't seen before on Transformers and nothing that isn't easily fixed. I didn't fix anything on Skullsmasher and he stood fine for the most part, as you can seen from the many photos in his gallery.

Then, if you give the table he is standing on just the slightest of bumbs, he falls over. He then falls to the floor, landing on his head, and snapping the titan masters little neck. I now have a broken Skullsmasher. :BANG_HEAD: For this reason, he is a complete fail, despite being one of the best looking G1 udates we've ever gotten outside of masterpiece. I hope this is just a flaw with mine, and not common for others.

Contact Hasbro about it : https://hasbro-new.custhelp.com/app/uti ... direct/ask

Send them a pic and answer the questions they will ask and they will send you a new one. They might send you another one as part of wave 1 if they no longer have any of skullsmasher, but then you coudl always go to wherever you purchase them and exchange the new one you get for skullsmasher when showing your reciept. At the very least you will have a new figure and ot a broken one.
thanks for the tip, but I decided to just give it to my kids. If Hasbro ever releases a fixed version, I might pick it up again.

So I had some running around to do and I ended up stopping at 2 TRU's and a Wal-Mart and I found wave 1 deluxes in every store but none of the other size classes. I picked up Skullcruncher and Hardhead and they're great. Heads are a little loose but it doesn't bother me. I can't recommend these enough.

just wanted to chime in on fortress maximus (now that i can actually get him off amazon here in ireland)

am i the only one that finds it baffling that the G1 bot with probably the MOST guns has bugger all in this update?

its just mad.

im probably gonna get the guy, if only because we never GOT Metroplex at all in ireland retail wise and the pricepoint from day one on him online was fuking mental. .

i do agree that his city mode sucks. i mean jesus. and i dont see why they couldnt have added a flap to the ramps so they cover his hands in city mode and actually touch the ground. i get ya can say its aircraft landing strips in battlestation mode. but it just looks weak in city mode. if i get the guy im going with some of the fan modes to try and ape his original better- bar that mess around with the surperfluous joints to come up with something i think looks better myself as just having his battlesation mode do the splits isnt up to scratch.

i agree with what some have said about not giving a toss about electronic lights and sounds. im buying a transformer- the fecking alt modes the most important thing to me. not some "whoop whooop" nonsense.

i never thought i'd say it but if the price point came down on the latter i'd probably get the original G1 version. but its twice the price thanks to shipping and the like.

im also baffled as to WTF is UP with that leg "tank" thing. if im hearing correct it doesnt even tranform into anything ! i know its there to evoke the G1 figure, but seeing as its not actually part of max surely it shouldve at least been able to combine or interact with emmisarry or cereberos ala the titan masters gimmcik in the legends levle. christ they couldve made it a gun for him or something but no. that thing more than anything screamed lazy to me.

on the more up to date posts.

i'll be picking up apeface and clobber. just love me a grimlock and its one of the more innovative titan masters gimmicks. apeface ill pick up just cause i think its a neat homage to the original.

Yup, he is an all-around pretty weak effort, and it's a shame too as he is so iconic, and a figure that I think everyone wanted justice done to :(

those heads need the correct bodies to go to, its a little strange to have headmasters without thier transtectors :???:

Perhaps a 3rd party can include a weapon pack for Fort Max and when they do so consider doing the associate mini-robots (sized for Titanmasters) and also maybe alter the side gun so it can do something. like open for Cerebros to sit in or fold up and slot inside of.

I suppose the tiny handle on Warden's gun makes it impossible for it to be held by TR Fort Max.

I hope if they get around to doing Scorponok, Omega Supreme, & Trypticon they don't recycle parts and make a gappy mess with loads of missing pieces.

The sad thing is that fort Max is "supposed" to be the centre piece of a collection and yet he's perhaps even less fun than Metroplex and Metroplex is already riddled with design flaws as is.

The only selling point these things have is the size, but not even giving Fort Max his gun is just lame.

Perhaps they can back peddle by making a Voyager that has a gun mode he can hold.

But I think Fort Max falls down in build quality, basic design implementation and play value and interaction is weak - just look at the half-ar**d way Powermaster Prime connects to the base it's embarrassing.

If they'd properly modified the legs to allow for a compact accurate City Mode and included BOTH main guns - even with the lack of all the other accessories I may have still been singing it's praises.

As it is I kind of look at it and sigh. On the plus side at least it's less of a clusterfu** than Victorion.

Ultra Markus wrote:those heads need the correct bodies to go to, its a little strange to have headmasters without thier transtectors :???:

In Japanese continuity it makes a "small" amount of sense in Western terms they make no sense at all as the heads are not the characters they are the accessories. putting Nightbeat's head on Hardhead's Body doesn't suddenly make him Nightbeat - it's just giving a new head design to Hardhead.

The choices for the headmasters are rather puzzling, aren't they? They're not bots that could work on their own (Henry Masterson, Vos wear my faaaace), they're not to give bots with multiple head designs more options (Armada Sideways, Nightbeat/Siren at least not yet), they're not really taking advantage of being 'replacements' (Scourge->SWEEP!), or maybe even just really generic heads that'd visually work with anybody. Instead they're... Brawn and Grimlock? And guys that should have bodies but don't.

Hello fellow Irish man. Always good to see another on the boards.

I've purchased fortress maximus through masterforce. I wouldn't necessarily be the biggest fan of headmasters but just the things he can do are pretty impressive and I loved Metroplex. I was lucky an american friend was coming to Ireland and brought metroplex with him.

I agree Fortress has some mad choices and personally I didn't buy the sdcc version because I'm a stickler for G1 toon accuracy. The sword should have been included at the very least but sure O'll look to ebay or a third party for that as he looks savage with it.

Smyths have gotten the voyagers and deluxes but I've yet to see the legends class or the single carded heads.

I love that post, partholon, and i will totally use it (and give you credit) in an article i have in mind. My thoughts are the same as yours. When I finally saw the new Fort Max, I just went an bought the Encore G1 (came out to about 245$US shipped so less than double for sure). You can find him for decent prices on secondary sellers in Japan like Mandarake. Cheers!

Some of these new heads seem more suited for Voyager class figures. They look too big on deluxes, particularly Grimlock.

As with everyone, I'm hoping for bodies for these titan master only dudes.

Peugh has a review that goes through the entirety of the second wave of the Titan Master class.
It includes Clobber, Skytread, Brawn and Apeface (to you and me, Grimlock, Flywheels, Brawn and Apeface). We previously newsed some fun face swaps using that wave which can be seen here.
This second wave is now available online and should be hitting stores long before any other toy from the second wave of Titans Return.

That's a gamble. They are still for children. How would you feel back in the 80s if your parents never bought you a starscream because you'd lose his fists and wings or Optimus because because you'd lose his fists. God knows if be heart broken id my folks had that mentality. I wouldn't be here now. Speaking from experience, I had powermaster Optimus prime. I still have him and my Hi-Q. I was 3 when I got it. That was a different time. I got a toy and I cherished it.

And come on, whos kidding themselves. No one on here is buying transformers solely for their kids. We're nerds guys, we buy this crap for us, our kids playing with OUR toys is a bonus. We're sharing our love

That's a fair point, at some point, kids have to grow up and be responsible for their toys (and I say this as a guy who grew up with lego's as a kid >:oP )

While I do like the look of these figures; I don't think I like them enough to bite.
I will be showing my 8 yr old a couple video reviews though, because I think he might really like the head figures being able to ride around in the alt modes...

The main point of this post though is in response to watching a review of Galvatron...
It is killing me that I hate the head gimmick so much!!
Other than that, the figure looks really really nice. I'm not that bothered by the lack of wrist articulation, and the spaceship mode is pretty decent for what it is.
Still, there's no way I'm getting this figure unless a 3rd party makes a complete Galvatron headsculpt.
Not impressed with Soundwave, I'm also to the point where I don't know if I even want TT's Blurr anymore.
I may just be taking a break from TF's in general for a long while.
Especially because I won't be surprised if I skip the L.K. movie line as well.

Fellow Canadian Seibertronian Matrix_Holder sends us a report from Burlington, Ontario, about the Transformers Titans Return line, and specifically, Titan Masters wave 1 and the big 'un himself, Fortress Maximus! The were all spotted at Toys'R'Us, and there are still some left at the store - hunt away, after reporting any findings in our database and boards!

(We believe this means the line has now shown up across the world, and I can confirm Europe will be carrying Fort Max later this year too. So happy global hunting!)

I'm still torn on fort max. Not because I don't think it looks good I think it's amazing, I just don't think I need to spend $150(US) on something that will literally be on a shelf and never played with. Yeah I'll take it down once in a while but not as much as say the other stuff I have. I barely ever take down metroplex. One of my friends got him this week and I'm suppose to swig by and check him out. Maybe seeing him in person will change my mind

I got Galvatron from toysrus last week and yes the head gimmick is the weakest BUT it's not that bad. Videos and photos make it look way worse than it is. In person it's alright. Not great but alright. It doesn't ruin the entire figure, I got him a week ago and I'm still playing with it.

I found this on facebook, another way to arrange Scourge's legs:

Thats something I will do when get mine. It breaks up the blue and shows off that extra paint detail that Hasbro did over Takara (on his inner foot).

That's how I have scourge and the sweeps have the proper transformation. It looks good but kills the knee articulation. That's as far as you can bend them

I prefer the legs on the other side but Scourge looks great either way.

This is mine. I really wanted to do this with power master Prime's cannons but haven't found one yet but this works out so well.

Once I saw Rewind and Swerve sitting in those turrets in MTMTE my first reaction was "oh please tell me the cannons on PM prime can do that!" They can but all I have is Scourges for now. It looks so cool though and the hasbro blue on scourge matches takaras Magnus

Hey, the Decep's need a base too, bots have all three
although looking a the pictures, and the blaster review, it looks like soundwave's door cant form that little observation platform that blaster can.

sixshot too however we don't know what class he is. I assume leader. I don't believe you'll be able to pull off 6 modes(if he has 6 officially) with a voyager. If sixshot is leader class than that means we'll be getting a lot of Decepticon leader class figures for a change.

I'm actually really happy with the assortment we are getting in Titans return. It's almost split in half. Usually we get 3 autobots and 1 decepticon in waves and by the end barely any decepticons. In CW we got 5 complete autobot scramble city combiners and 2 decepticons. When all the sets are out it'll be 6 autobots and 3 decepticons. I'm a decepticon guy so I'm always bummed when we don't get a lot of them.
