Mine should be on its way right now, too.

I'd love to see pictures of this Grimlock alongside Transformers Go! Springer & Blitzwing.
I'm probably in the minority, loving Blitzwing as much as I do (more than Springer, I think), but both of the Thrilling 30 Triplechangers can use a Takara paint job. Especially given the chipping/peeling issues people are having.

But, the Hasbro one looks more gritty and war-torn, like he's just come out from a harsh battle.
This one looks more like Grimlock just rolled off the assembly line, all shiny and new, which is a bit less-fitting for the character's down and dirty style.

Hehe, sounds like me .
I'm getting the Takara version (as always). I used to get both versions of just about everything, but these days, unless the deco is wildly different (as with Air Raid), I just get Takara's and skip Hasbro's.
Ol' Grimmy looks pretty good, can't wait to add him to my ever-expanding WfC/FoC shelf .

Seriously, is there any figure Takara can't make awesome? The Takara Combaticons went from being "meh, OK" to being legitimately amazing, the Takara WFC Optimus was made a billion times better with dat shiny paintjob, and now we have this masterpiece...
I reckon these guys could even make G1 Ironhide look cool.

Looks like son will be getting my Hasbro version for his birthday (it's still boxed-I'm not that bad ).
Edit: I still want someone to make some little chrome arms though.

I know. I found 1 Grimlock and bought him. Never saw another.
For one can waste in gas, it's better to just order a version online and be done with it.

Tell me about it . Once I got those TG Combaticons in hand and compared them side by side with all the other versions, particularly the 'exclusive' SDCC version, it really made me feel dumb for having shelled out as much money as I did to get the 'accurate' version off of ebay for rape prices. Takara's is not only accurate to the game (even more so in the case of Onslaught), but that paint job makes the drab colored plastic on the SDCC version look like crap.
I agree on FoC Optimus as well. That shiny paint really makes that figure pop and even Jazz seems pretty decent with the better paint job and superior plastic color (even though that mold in general just sucks it for the most part IMO, though car mode is passable, which is how I display him).

As DevastaTTor said, that may be your best bet. That's how I buy everything these days, and if you buy all your figures that way via places like BBTS and TFSource which allow you to combine shipping, including on preorders, it's totally worth it in my opinion. Not only do you not have to deal with shopping around and having to waste gas, but you also don't have to worry about whether or not it's in stock and whether or not you'll be able to secure one before that wave is gone.

Except for when Onslaught is transformed into his Bruticus torso mode, which is less game-accurate (from the neck down) than the SDCC version for the sole reason that it is physically impossible for Takara Onslaught's blue color to magically change into gray and back.xyl360 wrote:Tell me about it . I say this since the parts of Bruticus's torso that Onslaught comprises are colored gray in the game, while these same parts are instead colored blue when Onslaught is him his non-combined forms.
But it's understandable why neither Hasbro nor Takara could make this work and thus needed to compromise the way they each did, since neither of them know how to make toys with magic color changing powers that are entirely dependent upon which mode(s) the toys are in.

You don't own the Takara version, do you? I can tell because if you did, you'd be aware of the magic color-changing ability built into Onslaught's paint .
Kidding, yeah, I know, it's only accurate in bot mode. I'm still unsure why the game devs did it like that.

My guess is it's cuz G1 Bruticus had a silver torso thanks to his attachable/detachable chestplate, which was a feature Hasbro wanted to avoid with these new toys.xyl360 wrote:Kidding, yeah, I know, it's only accurate in bot mode. I'm still unsure why the game devs did it like that.
For myself, though, I use SDCC Onslaught for Bruticus's torso and retail Onslaught for the non-combined character (don't own the Takara ones, too expensive).
