Found this 2 pack at my local electronics shop for ¥2,975($24.73). It even came with a free mini figure of clear Sideswipe. (marked not for sale in Japanese).
The last picture shows the spring loaded cannons you can deploy by hitting the silver button above the tank treads.

I got these guys along with Grimlock and...
A. Didn't realize the guns were detachable. Cool! (thanks Matt)
B. Did the United release not have the spring loaded pile drivers?
I'm so glad Takara gave us a second chance to get these guys. They're GREAT!

Oh buddy were tbey spring loaded. Blow on one from 30ft and SPROING! I think the TFSS Rewind and Eject triggers are a little stiffer at least, hope these are too

These are pretty itchy on the trigger finger too. Makes transforming them ... mildly frustrating, to say the least.Flashwave wrote:Cobotron wrote:I wish we could get those awesome premiums/freebies. Love me some clear guys.

So these are biger than the modern day legends right? If so, then sweet

This is the first time they ever reissued the toys. Whats crazy is that these are actually hasbro designs for the reveal the shield line, and not takara in house products.

I mean, they look cool, and if I found them in the wild, I would buy one of them, but I won't pay $30+ for 2 of them
Plus with the upcoming release of the cassettes again (they were just released in foc) I don't see why hasbro would ever have a reason to release these guys

the scout class lives on, it just got more expensive and simpler. The worst part I think about that spring is more to do with that button being over the tab that attaches his pile xrivrr to his chest. You want to press there to tab in but when you do tbe back half of the tank takes off.Cobotron wrote:These are pretty itchy on the trigger finger too. Timing. They were tail end of a line before a movie.
And really, its 10ea for the modern day scouts, 15ea from Takara is not so outta line. But I agree, I would rather bave gotten them domestically priced

Yes, we did find out. Stores opted to go for the new DOTM line instead of the 5th wave of scouts for the Transformers 2010 line. So the wave was discontinued. They werent the only ones, Downshift and Bodyblock were also discontinued. Interesting though, Frenzy (in red) was never gonna be released anyway in the states, even if we would have gotten that last wave with the (blue) Rumble.
Also, if you took the initial preorder, they only came out to 25$ shipping included.
And you are right, hasbro has no reason to ever release them. But the club released them redone as the autobot casettes so that it cant be said the mold was never released stateside (just like with the Prime Breakdown mold)

Before a movie? Did the rotf sub-lines really last all the way up to dotm?
The problem is price for figures I don't want that badly, but more, that I don't need two of this figure, let alone at import prices, had it been a 2-pack here, I would've probably gotten it, but I would have much preferred them to have been individually offered state-side

Technically it wasn't 'released' it was 'sent' to people who paid $300+ for the club set.
Sorry, I don't count club exclusives as anything; at those prices, I could buy multiple figures I care about way more - I know one was a freebie, but you had to pay for the set anyways

Not really, Between ROTF and DOTM there was the Transformers line which was a lot like today's generations line. It was made to celebrate the Brand as a whole and included (like Generations), external media toys (in this case the movies), G1 reissues and toys for a Classics collection. However, the distinction between this line and a standard movie line was not big enough that stores thought they could coexist (unlike today) so since it was seen as between movie lines, it was flushed as soon as the next movie came along.

I know there was hftd and reveal the shield, and then there was the one with wreckgar and perceptor, right? Who was released/planned for release alongside them, as the entire series blends together between those movies for me...

The line that came after ROTF was simply called "Transformers", though many refer to it as "Hunt for the Decepticons" due to the sticker the packaging bore that advertised a promotional online game that went by that name. The line contained primarily Movieverse toys, but would later incorporate some Classics/Generations-style figures as well, by which point the toyline would evolve into its subline imprint of "Transformers: Reveal the Shield".
In Japan, the line contained Movieverse toys only and was instead known as "Transformers: Autobot Alliance", which is believed to have been an early working name for the English line, as store listings and receipts referred to the line as such despite that name not being the final one (in the English line, that is).

The only other changes I'd make to it, would be to put in G1-cartoon blue or G1-toy yellow LEDs in the head & chest, and not use a plain black plastic for his legs/trailer, but a sparkly metallic midnight blue instead. It's hard to believe that there is no real, properly-articulated, & non-1-2-3 Step Changer, Voyager or Leader Class Optimus Prime in the U.S.A. RID line. Why not?

Thanks for the reference pic Sabrblade, though I already knew about that version. I prefer this newer mold with the chrome and additional sword, but I've never liked substituting black for blue on non-Nemesis Prime/Dark Convoy figures. Blue, even the darkest midnight-blue is my preference for use with "Super" Optimus figures.
I also disliked TF:Cybertron Leader "Galaxy Force" Optimus Prime's color for that same reason. Darker-shaded, clear-plastic, metallic-painted, or color-chromed (i.e. Primal Prime) variations of Optimus' classic red/blue/silver color-scheme are what I like best for his upgrades.

By my analysis, the old school scout class (portrayed here as skystalker) is still significantly meatier than the legends class (portrayed here as powerglide). The legends are more in line with the recent commander class figures.
And even better:

Hasbro used to call them 'Basics' when they had a partner so I guess they thought that Optimus and Roller for example was equivalent to say a Human Alliance Basic or a PCC 2 pack... but they certainly seem more in keeping with a Cyberverse commander than they do a Scout - but then again close examination does show some similarities in construction with some Scouts - it's hard to say you have the Jets that seems pretty Commander like with their immovable heads and yet Tailgate or Rodimus does seems more like a titchy scout to me.
For the moment though I'll say I'm happier with the comparison with the Cyberverse Commanders if they get a little bigger again in 2016 then I might re-assess that / or not.
Posted by william-james88 on October 30th, 2015 @ 8:35am CDT
The Commander class (and legion class) was just a smaller scale for the same characers you'd find in other classes or should find in other classes. Commander Class hardshell for instance is made to be in scale with commander class Megatron and not the Voyager Megatron figure in Prime.
While these two classes may be in similar height, they stand for totally different things in a collection and would end up in different displays.
And the Generations Legends Class seems to be kind of stuck in the middle since some characters are made for a different smaller scale (the seekers, Optimus and Megatron) while others using the same molds are made to interact and scale with the Generations deluxe, voyager and (some) leader figures (like Huffer, Pipes, Warpath and of course Cosmos and Blackjack).
However, the inclusion of that last part, where they are unique characters and detailed figures with as many steps as deluxes does make them the successor to the ideals of the Scout Class, even if their height isnt exactly the same.

I always wondered why it took so long to get modern updates for the G1 minis like Bee, etc. I also thought the Cyberverse was an awesome idea, and thought it was cool that the Commander class was the Voyager of that universe.
I'm also glad they've given us the likes of the Seekers, Optimus, and Megatron in this scale to go along with some of the great Legion class toys. (Remember when Legions were Legends? )

They have two warehouses, (I THINK) pre-orders are shipped from the first one in SAINT PAUL, MN, then the rest is sent to their main warehouse in Wisconsin where they are based, this might account for a discrepancy in shipping, as for the price, it's probably import costs, taxes, and profit
