Looks awesome though. Wish I was collecting this scale. That alt mode wins me over even if the robot mode is nothing insane.

I always thought Sideswipe was the coolest looking of the Diaclone car designs, so this would be an instabuy for me, if only there wasn't Fort Max and all this awesome cassette-based stuff to save up for. Gonna' hafta' put this one off for a bit.

Yeah, I can't blame you. MP-10 is incredible, and one of my fav figures, but that $300 price tag is quite daunting. Especially if you're on any kind of budget. He's well worth it for those who can afford him though (at least in my opinion).

How're his hands goofy? They just look like Alternator's hands to me.

They are fine when in a fist but open they look "orangitangy". And yes I just made up a word. There seems to be too much space when open between the thumb and fingers and I'm not a huge fan of the bent fingertips. I realize I'm probably being WAY too picky as he is a deluxe+ figure. But he's also an MP. Could also be the zoomed pics too.

I wish they could have made the hood piece smaller in robot mode, it looks way too wide.

FellintoOblivion wrote:Not that impressed by robot mode, he looks really blocky and under-detailed for a MP.

But he's supposed to be blocky, that's the whole point of the Countach. I guess he could use a few touches of paint here and there to bring out a few small molded details...but not much. As for the hood, eh, it looks good to me. Maybe it'll get in the way a touch, but I feel like that's what Sideswipe is supposed to look like. He's a somewhat bulky soldier type.

Don't get me wrong, I realize it's a pretty simply transformation to go from car to robot but Rodimus, in my opinion, was a perfect example of how a car-former should get the MP treatment.

Interesting. I actually consider Rodimus a failure. Although Rodimus is accurate (which of course is the real focus), I'm uncomfortable transforming him. I got mine discounted at TRU because it was open and missing instructions, so I assume that has a HUGE impact, but watching youtube makes me fearful of breaking tabs, sensative flaps, and a host of potential breaking points! On top of it his shoulders are weird when his arms are straight forward and his chest disconnects regularly. At this point, I'm seriously considering buying a second (Takara Version) so that I don't HAVE to ever transform him to show both modes -which of course completely goes against the basic principle -TRANSFORMING.

Don't forget, Sideswipe is between a deluxe and voyager sized figure, he's not nearly as large as Rodimus.
I wonder what the odds are that he'll be available after the first of the year. I've already got so much on order, I've got to push him off for a bit unfortunately. Hopefully I can pick him up later, or we'll hear about a US release.

However, that face looks pretty bad.
And yeah, the high price is a reflection of paying for the brand license, for extra paint details, for a higher than usual amount of small parts + assembly and hopefully for some more QC.

Rubber tires or Plastic?
EDIT:
NVM, wow no die-cast, or rubber tires?
Why the hell is this a Takara product?
This is Hasbro style, and not very "Masterpiece"
for 90$ it should have at least metal feet, and rubber tires.
With that and the bad door lines, I'm canceling the PO.
What horsecrap, a large Deluxe figure for 90$, NO THANKS.
How do you go from MP-10 to this?

I hate to sound overly picky about spelling and grammar, but the correct word is whet. "Jimmy wet the bed." "His pants are wet." My appetite is whet."

I've wondered that also I can't see Lamborghini just saying ya it's no problem using our name and likeness maybe it will boost sales lol. I doubt many TF collectors can afford a Lamborghini even if it is an older one

Yes rubber tires and die cast would have been nice, but considering that the other choice would have been reduced tooling, I'm fine with foregoing both.
What is blowing me away though is that the new MP scale seems to be roughly in line with the original G1 scale, meaning that we're essentially getting what MP figures were meant to be about (super detailed, super articulated G1 toys) in the truest sense of the word.
Considering how much we pay for reissues, I'm fine with paying what we are for the new MPs - especially with what I get them for on early bird discount on HLJ.
My only dilemma is going to be whether I can hold out with it being in my private warehouse on HLJ to save on shipping for 6 weeks. I hope I can, but it's not looking good.

Except it's not rec. retailing for $90 in Japan or on Japanese online stores. Anyone paying that much is going through an importer and so they can't really be surprised when there's such a discrepancy between what they're paying and Japanese RRP.
With online import retailers like BBTS, you're effectively paying Japanese retail or close to it plus an importer's markup (nothing against them for doing that, just that these days it's often cheaper to get Japanese stuff from Japanese online retailers than it is from US importers).
Even if they're getting it at Japanese wholesale, meaning there's no double markup; you're still paying for their shipping to get it from Japan, plus a markup on that as a part of their costings. Ultimately you're paying for convenience and quite a premium for it too I might add.
Rec retail on these when you import them yourself is $70 and if you'd gotten in with a preorder on HLJ.com for example, you'd only be paying $59 +shipping which is about half of what BBTS and other US online retailers are going to want to charge you.
My advice to anyone caught out by this is next time a MP like this or any other Japanese figure shows up- check out Japanese online retailers and get in early. Otherwise you'll wind up paying a premium for them.

It sure looks like it. It's very easy to confuse the two, since a lot of people haven't realized that there was a homonym for dampness.
