I believe the word you're looking for is "pantograph" And that's indeed the case, tho he ends up looking quite big for one. And in fiction, he's not a Mini-Con but an adult Daniel wearing a new Exo-Suit.

And aha, I was wondering what the context behind it being Daniel was, but I'm pretty ignorant of most of the Japanese fiction, and a fair part of the western canon to boot

Sort of. The toy's shuttle mode is used to represent the Decepticon starship Thunder Arrow, which Shouki in that mode is using as a disguise to infiltrate the Decepticons, with Daniel posing as the ship's pilot. Think of it like a "Punch/Counterpunch" ordeal only with two altmodes instead of two robot modes, this time with the ship mode being the spy form.durroth wrote:... wait, it faction changes between alt modes?
