The staff of Seibertron.com hopes everyone in Japan has an extra power generator, they're about to get a Blackout. In all actuality, this long weekend sees the release of another Takara Animated Wave, mainly featuring the Dinobots and Voyager Blackout. While the intangibles have piled up in terms of Hasbro's somewhat similar and yet unreleased version of the toy, Takara is ready to release Blackout in full force. The early bird gets the worm, as Japan resident and Seibertron.com friend Alfes 2010 has acquired the figure ahead of schedule. Feel free to check out the packaging, several images of the figure in vehicle mode, and that funky mustache in Blackout's robot mode below!

I love this figure...too bad he didn't get enough screen time (much like cyclonus) would have loved to see how this character developed...although I do like the John Holmes mustache :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE:

I hope to add this guy to my collection someday, along with the clear Rodimus & Optimus pack. I just noticed that the box actually has GIMMICK wrote in giant letters across the back of it. I really love their attention to detail :P.

They got his eyes wrong. The Hasbro one has the correct small eyes, whereas the eyes on this one are huge.

I think this would be a good toy if it didn't have monkey arms, had a neck joint and wasn't so ugly.

YYYYEEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
Seriously, if I ever get into buying non movie TransFormers, I am basing my entire Animated continuity's scale on him alone.

Unfortunately, some don't quite work that way....as not everyone has an Activator's toy, why must all Blackout's suffer the out of scale fate? WHYYY?!?!?!

Ha! Nice post. Tell us how you feel!

I, for one, am a lot less impressed than I though I would be. This is just not my bag at all for some reason. I really can't even put my finger on it-it isn't one thing that I actually think is bad. I just don't like it. It is basically like a Donkey Kong Crossover.

I like it. I wasn't fussed one way or another about the movie version but this one tickles my fancy...I think because of how over the top he is. Either way I plan to buy him tomorrow. Maybe flaunt him a little.

Just got this guy and he's utterly fantastic. He's bristling with weapons, many of which are adjustable, he's surprisingly posable, his transformation is simple and intuitive and his Rotor-blaster clips directly onto his arm. All in all, a class act.

Hate to triple-post but I already have a concern about this figure. Removing his rear-rotor in 'copter mode is a vital part of the transfomation but it does involve an incredibly non-repeat-transfom-friendly aspect.

Image

As you can see in this picture the rotor section has little black pegs to clip onto the helicopter tail. This little black pegs are sloped towards the front meaning that the rotor and the 'copter are easy to push together but harder to pull apart.

Image

In this picture you're looking at the rear of his 'copter mode from the underside. As you may be able to see (sorry it's not a great picture) there are two hooks at the very back of the 'copter. These hooks hold the little black pegs on and it takes quite a bit of pressure to remove the rotor from the tail. After doing it just a couple of times the hooks already have a small white pressure mark. Each transformation puts increasing strain on this part, I suspect. Given Arcee's thumb issue, I'm more than a little concerned about this.

EDIT: The Japanese instructions have a little warning box that more-or-less translates into "The joint is tough. When you do this part, please be careful." Hmmmmm.
