YEP, do want that. Glad he's being repacked with Optimus too, I can finally not buy multiple voyagers at once! Looks awesome too, the guns look ridiculously well detailed, his head sculpt is fantastic and the paint is great, especially on his head. All we can hope is he holds together well and his arms have a good range of movement, I had a bad experience with the DotM voyager - one of the pins in his shoulder ripped out of the plastic about 5 minutes after opening him.

So Ironhide will be a voyager. VERY interesting. :-?

I'm looking forward the reviews to see how he's actually made.

I bet Ironhide will be a smallish voyager like Optimus. SS is made to be un scale with each others so it may turn out perfect in the end.

Yeah, he's probably a Voyager just so they can make a bulkier bot mode with big guns.

Exactly. It's all about parts count. The good old HFTD deluxe Ironhide is the perfect size in vehicle mode, but the bot is way smaller than SS Ratchet. There's even a picture somewhere in the previous posts that show that.

Anyway, that SS Ironhide is one more SS figure to add to my very short list of SS wants.

Yeah that's what I said weeks ago when speculating on the voyager classing of Ironhide announced.

Anyways this figure looks good from what I can see (though back kibble and that bumper on his waist area looks odd). Looking forward to more photos and especially just to get one in hand and see if fixes what i've hated on every previous voyager Ironhide (the fiddly chest transformation and awkward shoulder articulation).

Also it'll just be nice to have the core 2007 Autobot team all together. :D

Courtesy of fellow Transformers fan Darren Tan, and the Planet Iacon Facebook page, we have - after the shots of the packaging for the figure earlier today - a full set of images of the Transformers Studio Series Voyager Ironhide figure!

The images show us the weapons specialist in both GMC vehicle and full arm cannoned robot mode, while also giving us comparisons in truck mode with Studio Series deluxe Jazz (as both share the 2007 live action movie designs), and in robot mode with Jazz again and more recently seen Megatron. Check them all out below, and let us know what you think!

Looks good though that front bumper still bugs me in robot mode. Are the cannons permanently attached? Looks like they have a bit of truck kibble on them. if that means they conceal inside the truck mode that's probably why. Anyways overall it looks good and I'll be buying it and see what I can do with it (like adding some extra silver paint to make it more resemble the CGI and masterpiece toy). :)

Jazz's legs be backwards. Gives him bigger feet though. But oddly somehow the wheels are still on the outside? How they do that... I'mma play with mine and have a look. :P
edit: think they've actually swapped the legs around at the hip balljoints. odd.

Ironhide's belly has a great big smile via that bumper.

Well, this came from literally nowhere. Kinda glad I got sniped from underneath me when I tried to buy a HFTD Ironhide to go with Ratchet.

However, I’m a little concerned that Ironhide will be way too big compared to Ratchet.

Well, he sure does look a good bit shorter than the already tiny Optimus, while Ratchet's a pretty tall Deluxe.

Right. As long as he's somewhere in between these two (shorter than Prime, taller than Ratchet) then it's good. :)

And only the 'fake' ones have paint? Dunno. Not too bothered at moment. Just want to buy it and figure out the toy for myself. I'd like to know if the bumper is at least easily removable for customisation purposes. :P

The Topkick mode is a little small in relation to Jazz. The Topkick truck was huge in reality.

A bit larger than Ratchets's ambulance Hummer.

Still the robot mode looks quite nice. May have to actively look for him when he's released.

Is he considered Wave 3 of SS?

What else would be in Wave 3?

Sideswipe?

The Twins?

Showckwave?

Soundwave?

Sideways?

Truck Megatron?

That GMC Topkick. So un-necessary, but still so cool.

So..we need a SS "Concept" Camaro to go with the rest of the Transformers 2007 bots. I'm almost in on these. I miss my Movie Premium Ratchet so I may need to get that deluxe just to paint up a little bit. I think I'll have an easier time finding SS Ironhide than I would MPM Ironhide.

I'm really hoping for a new Deluxe Soundwave based off his Human Alliance figure, a new Deluxe version of Barricade, maybe based of/simplified from his Masterpiece, and a new Voyager Sentinel Prime that should basically be a down-scaled version of his Leader toy. Other than that, maybe some new versions of other characters would be nice too. I'd love a ROTF Sideswipe based off of his Deluxe figure. Ironhide looks great BTW. I want to see some news on his Masterpiece though
Re: In Package Images of Transformers Studio Series Voyager Ironhide (1964797)

Think I got confused about the wheels earlier.

So what I thought were silver painted wheels are just extra round bits under those front truck parts in robot mode? And the actual wheels are beneath those? That matches with what the Masterpiece figure does. So that's just one pair of wheels in the torso? And the feet appear to have the other two wheels in them facing downwards like the Deluxe toy does which isn't movie-accurate but understandable for this transformation while the CGI model and MPM figure has those wheels in the upper thighs, and to simulate that, this Studio toy has wheel shapes and details sculpted in those areas

So yeah this figure's making more sense to me now. Still don't get why the front bumper just ends up in the middle and not even able to seperate or fold away but eh, can't have everything. We'll see what we can do there when actually having bought the figure.

Nathaniel Prime wrote: I'd love a ROTF Sideswipe based off of his Deluxe figure.

I'd love a Sideswipe based on his Sidearms figure as that looked way better to me and had much more stable feet and you could arrange the 'toes and heels' to point backwards so they worked as support stands while still keeping the wheelie look from the front. Plus I I love the transformation of that toy. I'd like to keep the guns too but add his swords (either as seperate pieces or perhaps find some way to turn the back kibble into them. I hated how the original RotF figure did them)

I meant his DOTM Deluxe, but now that you mention it, Sidearm Swipe would be a much better choice. I do love thr original ROTF Deluxe though. Anyway, it would be better and more movie accurate if the swords were separate pieces, like SS Prime's. If they could be mounted on his arms the same way, that would be great

Ah ok. I never had the DotM figure and put more priority on getting two Bees, and the two available Wreckers when it came to Deluxe Autobots of that era. I wasn't keen on the look of the car mode being a convertible and not having floorboards. And the dull grey plastic was a bit off putting as I still had the shiny silver Sidearms Swipe at the time. But yeah I hope they get around to Swipey. They've done all the 2007 Autobots now so an RotF character could be next? Who knows? :)

hm, probably someone at Hasbro actually... :P

Studio Series Ironhide looks REALLY good. I'm glad they got the height about right compared to Ratchet. That extra Voyager plastic mostly just goes into bulk and "accessories." Studio Series Optimus does look just a bit too short next to Ironhide, though, even though he's still a hair taller. That'll be a moot point in my display, though, as I'm still using Revenge Optimus Prime instead for my movie figure collection.

I do wish the bumper at least collapsed a bit on Ironhide. They've done transformations before where front bumpers fold back at the sides. I don't know why they couldn't do that here, unless it was a dreaded "parts count" problem.

That's how he's packaged and how he's depicted on the back of the box. I'm pretty sure that's where the bumper goes, unfortunately. In my opinion, it's far less of a mess that Studio Series Optimus Prime's chest.

but i don't think Prime's chest is a mess at all or maybe i've forgotten what it looked like in person since i painted mine. I dunno. But I do find that bumper on Ironhide very distracting. maybe I'll get used to it or maybe there will be some kind of way to improve it... or maybe it's easily removable and not pinned on. It's the only thing I don't care for on this otherwise fine Ironhide (other than the chest looking a little awkward which seems to be an issue with most Ironhide figures).

I wanna know when this Ironhide is available for purchase. Cos I got £30 or so sitting here for it. I want my 2007 Studio Squad complete! :)

Carnivus Prime, Optimus' chest is a bit of a mess. The windows are a bit too high, at the wrong angle, and have a bit too much of a gap between them. The way they're hinged results in big fat hinges replacing detail present on other figures. And the torso ends up looking a bit blocky due to kibble on the sides.

Looks pretty good. My only experience with movie Ironhide was the DOTM Voyager, which I found to be a fiddly mess with poor articulation in the arms, so as long as they avoid THAT this should be pretty good.

Here’s hoping for a Deluxe Barricade and Voyager Bonecrusher to complete the 07 crew. Sure, the Megatron wouldn’t be correct, but the one we got is even better imo.

Well Shuttershock, the DOTM Voyager was more concerned with having a big-aft Mechtech gun than anything else :P. I too am hoping for a Studio Series Barricade and Bonecrusher, that would be wonderful. I'm also hoping for Studio Series versions of Megatron's Movie 1 and DOTM bodies.

Carnivus, I admit Optimus isn't as bad as I first made him out to be, but his chest has some definite visual flaws and mismatches to it. Saying otherwise is like saying G2 Slingshot is unbreakable.

Purely from a fun standpoint, I also wish he had ball-jointed sun visors like ROTF Leader and Battle Blades Optimus had. Because not only did that allow the visors to be positioned in robot mode, it let you give his truck mode angry eyebrows and that's hilarious.

But yes, that Ironhide is smexy. One of the best looking ones we've had, certainly. Not sure which I want more, him or the DotM Leader (for size purposes with Leader Optimus). He looks very fine, that bumper aside (and that may well be a mistransformation), and has the best proportioned and most accurate cannons.

One of my big hopes for the Studio series is a new Leader-class version of THE ETERNAL GLORY OF JETFIRE! As much as I complained about Studio Series Optimus, he's nowhere near the kibbletastic mess that ROTF Leader Jetfire is. He's still cool, but hooo boy was he screwed over by not only having to be designed to combine with Optimus, but also having to have electronics because Hasbro higher-ups were still in their "l34d3r (1455 t0yz mu5t h4ves t3h electroniczorz! 4lw4yz!" phase.

ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:D-Maximal_Primal, Ironhide's movie 1 toy does not have the cannons permanently on the arms. It would sure be nice if it did, but alas. I know this because I have looked for him on eBay and seen many instances listed sans cannons. Sigh.

I'm curious as to why you prefer 2007 Blackout to Studio Series. He looks crude detail-wise except for the arms, his altmode bits are dealt with far less efficiently, his main rotor doesn't collapse as well, and his feet are completely wrong. Is it because of the Scorponok gear-link gimmick

My bad, I meant his 1st and 2nd movie appearance where his cannons were arm mounted, not like DotM where they were stored on his back and hand held. Same with Blackout. I am not talking about which toys I like best, merely movie look, and sometimes using the toy they got as a reference.

As for Ironhide: I am not sure yet. The bumper is out of place, and the arms seem really shrimpy. I don't like the arms on the DotM voyager, and I prefer the arms on the 2007 voyager the MP uses the proper arms position like the DotM voyager, but actually makes the arms look a proper size, unlike these ones.

Also still really not a fan of the robot mode scale being the set point and how small they have made the Autobots so far. I know it's how things work here but I am allowed not to like it!
Re: In Package Images of Transformers Studio Series Voyager Ironhide (1964905)
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on June 13th, 2018 @ 9:34pm CDT
Ah, I see. Thank you for clarifying. Although with Blackout, it's not like he had a look besides his movie 1 look considering he died in that one :P

Scale is one thing that's always been an issue with Transformers and the movie lines have it really bad. So I find it kinda nice that there's a line that tries to address it. As for the small Autobots... I blame that on Blackout and Grimlock's enormous afts combined with the fact that Leader is the largest size class HasTak are willing to use for it (and that Leader-class and Voyager class have shrunk substantially since ROTF).
Re: In Package Images of Transformers Studio Series Voyager Ironhide (1964909)
Posted by D-Maximal_Primal on June 13th, 2018 @ 9:41pm CDT
So I have been messing around with Blackout some more, and for me at least, it is a hard battle between whether Blackout or Grimlock is my favorite leader. Both are awesome in robot mode and extremely accurate, though in Grimlock's case his accurate is much cooler. But Blackout is still iconic and he looks so good. Transformation wise, I think Grimlock is better in that department, seeing as how Blackout is slightly fiddly. But in alt mode, I think Blackout wins. He makes such a giant ass helicoptor he takes up almost all my desk.

So between these 2... it's a hard fight as to which is my favorite. But neither are slouches in any regards and they should both be picked up. Gosh I love these leaders

I too have issues with that. When I first heard that Blackout and Grimlock would both be leaders I thought for sure there would be no such thing as a unified scale. Both those characters are far from being as big as oneanother so clearly them both being leaders means scale is not that big a deal with this line and it would be similar to other movie lines. I was wrong.

But what saddens me here is that with them making blackout in scale with the voyager class decepticons, I cant use him (as Grindor) to re-enact that forrest battle scene with my Leader Prime, Leader ROTF Megatron and Leader HFTD Starscream :(

So just to say, I am with you D-Max, I too allow myself not to like it.
Re: In Package Images of Transformers Studio Series Voyager Ironhide (1964917)
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on June 13th, 2018 @ 11:01pm CDT
Well, to be fair, Will..
First, in-scale with those Leader-class figures, Blackout & Grindor would have to be Supreme class. They're substantially taller than Optimus, Megs, and Screamer (look at how Optimus has to climb up onto Grindor to go after his head) and are rather beefy to boot.
Second, the Studio Series is at least supplying a Voyager ROTF Megs, Screamer, and Optimus so the SS Blackout mold has versions of those three in-scale with him.
Third, while SS Blackout isn't in scale with those Leader-class figures, he's still at least less dwarfed by them than his 2007 Voyager counterpart would be XD.

Carnivus, I admit Optimus isn't as bad as I first made him out to be, but his chest has some definite visual flaws and mismatches to it.

Yet oddly enough the stomach area is one of the most accurate of all Prime voyager figures. Far more so than the BB mold.
Also weirdly enough while looking for something to use as the sun visors on my Studio Prime I found I somehow actually have the sun visor parts from the RotF Leader figure in my parts box. Ok far too large to use on Studio Prime but where the hell did they come from? I did own that figure but I sure as heck sold it complete so dunno where these ones came from. Must have been in some large haul of TF figures and bits I got a while ago I guess. I'm sure some folk are missing those from their RotF Leader Prime.

Blackout's figure size is accurate to this chat that states he is 33 feet though. Which shows all three of the 2007 Decepticons in the Studio series to be correct scale with it.
SizeComparison-1-1-.jpg

So this means Grindor is a lot bigger than Blackout? Blackout turns into a Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low while Grindor turns into a Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion which aren't massively different in size though the CH-53E is the bigger of the two (and has 7 rotor blades so Grindor should have 7 but his robot mode is pretty much just Blackouts (presumably upsized a lot) and the fact they're two different helicopters in alt-mode more than likely is because the MH-53 was retired in 2008 and Revenge of the Fallen came out in 2009).

So yeah... nothing's simple with Blackout and Grindor. :P

I think the size Grindor is shown to be on screen is probably more accurate for them, considering that the MH-53 and its siblings are 88' long (versus, say, Optimus' 30-something foot truck mode) and very bulky, and their robot mode doesn't have gangly arms and bowed, digitigrade legs to keep the height down (unlike Starscream, whose jet mode is 62' long). Blackout's size on screen is harder to judge, I forget at the moment whether he's ever properly in-frame with other characters the way Grindor is.

I could only have a quick look as gotta go out soon but I grabbed some screens from the last battle and while I can't see Blackout standing next to any other TFs, his size compared to nearby buildings has him not looking too large. (sorry for blurryiness, these are taken from a lower quality video I downloaded for reference as my PC has no Blu Ray drive, my PS4 does that for me)

Yeah, that does look a bit on the small side (and also shows that his rotor weapon does not in fact use the blades of his main rotor. It evidently uses his tail rotor blades but re-split in a way a toy can't hope to duplicate without just making a separate "weapon mode" piece). I still say that Grindor's on-screen size makes more sense considering the altmode's size *shrug* On the other hand, it seems that going his on-screen size SS Leader Blackout is in robot mode scale with ROTF Leader Optimus and Movie 1 Leader Megs.

By the way, I don't suppose you happened to have any ROTF Leader Jetfire weapons in that parts box do you?

Nope sorry. I did have a few parts for that figure including his cane and a couple jet panels but used them to complete a Jetfire I found at a car boot sale and sold it. Amusingly I did just find the head of The Fallen in the box (never had that figure) so I may just give it to Prime as a trophy. :P

Pic for you.

Revenge Prime being angry truck because Studio Prime is using his truck bed as a posing platform. :P (that took a while changing into truck mode again.. and still not quite got it lined up properly, the truck front windows won't stayed fixed properly to the hood tabs, something's not quite right with my smooshing.)

All I was missing was a leader class movie helicopter bot to make it in this nice leader class scale and now I am stuck having to buy a bunch of new toys instead while still having an empty spot on my movie leader shelf.

Its simply not the scenario I had been hoping for when I first heard of this toy coming out.
