Someone got hold of the upcoming two packs and is selling them on e-bay for almost double the price. The real news here though is that these listings now have the in package images.
One is TRANSFORMERS Generations Earthrise WFC-E29 Voyager Seeker Skywarp Thundercracker and the other is TRANSFORMERS Generations Earthrise WFC-E30 Clones Pounce Wingspan. This would be the first time these exact toys see US distribution since the Seekers are new decos and the clones sport their Takara decos, which is different than what Hasbro had used for their release. The main deco difference would be the use of dark purple over pink.
These are both Target exclusives.

Yup, we'll see what happens this time.

Might be better when they're transformed correctly, I think that white part should fold again to be on the back.

I'm just going to wait for Pounce to start showing up individually on eBay for cheap because I guarantee these will shelfwarm. Personally, I would have wanted the two-pack to just be Pounce and Fastlane, and perhaps a rerelease of Wingspan and Cloudraker.
Also, are these the Takara variants? Because I swear the purple parts are pink on the Hasbro releases.

At least based on the Takara ones.

I was wondering where that phrase came from. I was a little worried "Decepticon" was being phased out, but I guess it's just a good way to group Decepticons, Predacons, Quintessons, etc. together.

They are keeping Europe in mind, if the packaging is anything to go by. Now the world's standard including the US, with 25 languages in total.

As is, if Target clearances them down far enough, I might get a pair to customize. I bought all those other upgrades for the other 4 pair of TR Clones that I haven't even gotten around to applying yet.

As a fan and owner of the G1 original, I don't agree at all. Sure, holding it was awkward but it's just a nice touch of overkill.
Plus the G1 big gun split in two and act as towers for the city mode and that's genius.
Posted by blackeyedprime on April 30th, 2020 @ 6:42pm CDT
The non splayable fixed legs are crap and doesn't look like they can be upgraded easily or if at all. Base modes lacking a lot of the orange bits and bobs (even if g1s lift was unusable). Robot mode- if the chrome bits can attach to legs instead of the pretty poor looking shield it might be better.
Def needs his other shoulder guns preferably pivoting with replacements for those he comes with and his two piece hand gun would be nice. Looks like a cthru visor will be doable too which is nice.
The feet def look better than they did in the toy fair photos. Not sure where or if Scorponok has any connectivity to other bases or if he's getting blast effects.

You can make the silver on his legs by having a dinkier shield.
But eh, this beast beg for an upgrade kit. With the insane amount of ports he have all over, we could add anything.

He’s already on order.. my only niggles are to do with the lack of a gun as has been pointed out. The g1 toy did make it seem a bit undersized, but the box artwork always made it look cool in my head. A new version would definitely have to be proportioned better. Also, the other little bits and pieces that went to make his base mode. Sure the radar dishes might be extra pieces that can be lost... but maybe some sort of lift or some levers could’ve been incorporated in the legs. The other Issue I have concerns the shoulder cannons, they look great but really hoped they’d be articulated like we saw in the cartoon. Also, there’s only 2 as opposed to the original toy’s four.
Gripes aside, can’t wait to include him in my collection, love how most of the titans turned out, with perhaps metroplex and fortress being the weakest entries, the rest have been awesome.

You do realize that Trypticon's G1 toy was somewhat taller than Metroplex's G1 toy because it was in fact substantially bigger than Metroplex (and between that and the motor, cost almost twice as much), yes?o.supreme wrote:Scorponok looks great. I'm also so glad they didn't make him smaller like Trypticon. Also there was some early rumors he had parts sharing with Omega Supreme. Glad to know he is unique, and big enough to be Fort Max rival, undoing the error of the original Can't wait to get it
TR Trypticon meanwhile is the same size as T30 Metroplex. He's just shorter because being a T. Rex in robot mode means that size is distributed differently; a lot of it's in the big fat T. rex tail, for instance, plus he has a consistently thick torso (especially when you factor in his back)...
Scorponok's robot mode height is also affected by his tail (hence why he's not quite as tall as Metroplex and Fort Max), but not as much since it's not as huge as Trypticon's (Tryps' tail is the same length as his entire torso). On the upside, his height is boosted by the fact that his robot mode is humanoid rather than bestial.

Generation Metroplex can be this tall because he's such a lean and lanky boi.
For Trypticon to be eye to eye with Metroplex, it should have TWICE the mass. That would be ridiculous.
This Scorponok is now the true rival that Fortmax deserved. Especially with the deluxe heads. But I hated my CW Fortmax so I sold him, being too much of a Metroplex clone. My ER Scorpy will fight G1 Fortmax instead.
I will buy this Scorponok but I will also buy the most likely upcoming 100$ upgrade kit. There's too many bits missing compared to the G1 original:
-- Need two more gray canons. Maybe replace all of them to make the canons posable.
-- The big gun that can split into city towers.
-- Radars and bits for the city mode. Those could combine into a bot like the deluxe "armor" guys.
-- Two proper silver "armor plates" to complete the bot mode for his legs.
Still, for those with no attachment to the G1 toy, this ER version is incredible and very complete.

ZeroWolf wrote:The problem the designers had would have been to include all that stuff but have Scorp be diminished size wise and more hollow. Afterall, the designers had limits they had to adhere to, no matter what we may have wished. Still I think the compromises were worth it
Exactly. To achieve a TRIPLE CHANGER city bot that fit the size and budget, compromises had to be made. That's why the upgrade kit will add another 100+$ to the price of the figure. Something HasTak were not allowed to do. 250$CAN is expensive as it is for a normal retail product. No stores would take on a 400$CAN toy.
Hell, E.B Games were supposed to have MP-44 as an exclusive but they never got it. Look like they don't want to have a 600$CAN toy in inventory after all.

This stuff, plus I wish there was an optional clear face shield for some real G1 figure/Mega Zarak cartoon authenticity.
Also wish he could use his tail stinger in bot mode like the original, but not even an upgrade kit can fix that it seems.
I really do love that all the hollow spots actually serve a purpose in at least one mode and gets covered when not in use (aside from the ankles in bot mode). Nice having somewhere to put the shield in scorpion mode.

The big visor on the G1 toy may have been unsightly but it kind of needs it for cartoon accuracy in scorpion mode, so hopefully some kind of clip on attachment. For me this is one of the most disappointing titans but already ordered it... And if they release it as black zarak I'll be buying it again

I don't think it really matter. Case in point, the whole Titan Return line.

He has the visor for scorpion mode, but it's purple now, they probably should have painted it white. Toyhax to the rescue I guess.
As for Black Zarak, no matter what the story was the figure still came with a Headmaster regardless. I imagine they'd just reshell the original Titan head.
I still want to see Fasttrack's spear mode, Hasbro's been keeping that secret. I wonder if any of his parts can be used to make up for any of Scorponok's missing parts like the tiny antenna/radar bits?

TR Fort max probably wasn't as dissapointing because I liked Scorponoks design/character more. Plus I don't have an original Fort max (I have a rid brave max that Takara released with out most of Fort maxs accessories, so it lessened the blow of getting tr Fort max with out most of Fort maxs accessories). Fort maxs lack of elevator, foot storage, lack of guns and having to fan mode base was the let downs. It did have electronics though so it marked some improvements over the original and he looks complete enough in robot mode with out needing upgrades.
Scorponok feels like it needs a lot of add ons to make it on par with the original toy and needs upgrades to complete nearly every one of its modes. I'd also like some knee pads or something for the deluxe head robot mode legs but I'm picky

No need to lecture, I was there. Were you? Without the electronics, If Hasbro had scaled up TR Trypticon slightly to be almost the same size as T30 Metroplex (as ER Scorponok is to Fort Max), they could have easily done it for around the $200 price point in 2017

And my point is still valid. I'm not saying Trypticon is an awful toy, never did, it just didn't meet my expectations, and they are still valid today, as they were 3 years ago when it came out. The argument was never settled, never will be until it is rectified.
It took 33 years for Hasbro to finally rectify the disparity between the original Scorponok and Fort Max. I say Bravo, and let's celebrate that! I'm not looking for an immediate fix with Trypticon, it is what it is, but I can still call it a disappointment if I wish.
