Thank goodness the only other figure I have any interest in isn't going to see the light of day in robot mode if I pick it up. Sadly though, I'll probably have to pass on that too. If Hasbro can find a way to screw up a voyager class Prime in BOTH modes then the Deluxe Class '67 Camaro Bumblebee has about a snowballs chance in hell of coming out decent looking in vehicle mode.

(1) AOE Grimlock's head sculpt is *this close* to being TMNT Shredder.
(2) Evasion Optimus looks a lot like Kre-O Optimus.

But that Grimlock should have stayed extinct, in my opinion. "Voyager" seems a lot like "Deluxe" right now, though that is probably to keep in in scale with this Optimus for unknown reasons. Being around the same size as G1 Grim is rather unacceptable from a Voyager, in my opinion.

AOE Voyager Grimlock's alt-mode makes FOC Grimlock's alt-mode look like a marvel of modern engineering.

Glad he's deluxe and not voyager sized, I think he'll look great next to Movie Trilogy deluxe Prime.

I'm really keen to see exactly how that transformation works - the windowtits are obviously "fake" so I'm intrigued to see where the "fake" bits appear from and where the "real" bits are hidden.

Evasion Mode Prime is a Voyager Class figure, not Deluxe. And I can't say I don't dig him. Grimlock on the other claw, I'll wait for comparisons between Voyager and Leader.

He's a pass, but the otherfigures on the shelf look good. I don't need a green corvette, but hopefully a repaint comes along.
How is Evason Prime a whizzing on a grave qality bad? Sure, some shoulderpads would be nice, some grey to break up the colors, but its a solid figure. Only because I have enough Primes already I was gonna skip him, but that is looking like its going to change. He reminds me a lot of the 2007 Voyager without the backpack in proportions. Curious to see the scale of his alt mode.
(I still really like my BH Voyager Prime though, with wings, his Armade cannon on the vehicle roof, a pair of theBattle VS turret ommy guns at the back of the truck mode in his fistholes, Mmm!)

Maybe it might fit into his hand better.
It looks like a really bad homage to how the G1 toy held his good, but that was 1970/80's engineering they should have no excuse for this. So far none of these toys are interesting me...

That's exactly what I think every time I look at him.

So much bot bits and massive gaps and panels just floating in the middle of nowhere revealing all the robot bits underneath.
Honestly...it's laughable and a little embarrassing for such an iconic figure to be handled so poorly over the past couple years. At least the MP did it right. Even Animated is better.
Brings a wee tear to my eye it does.
OP looks alright in alt mode. I can dig it.

Fake car chest, with the real car mode hood and grill forming his a**.....or hanging off of it. Not to mention that his color scheme looks NOTHING like the car used in the movie except that they both have blue in them.. UGH. If this is what the entire Generations/Movie toy line ends up looking like, I won't be getting any of them.

Scorn and Strafe on the other hand are looking pretty awesome so far. Most likely going to be Predacons on my shelf as long as something can be done for those knees. They look way too thin. If they can't line up tighter against the calves, then I will probably pass.

BeastProwl wrote:For those of you complaining about Drift's fake chest, look closer. The bumper tells you that its not fake, it lines up directly with his kibble. its the middle section of the car front, the rest folds around back. There are fake details aplenty, but that one doesn't bother me so much.
Ahhh...I stand corrected. Knowing that does make me feel a little better about it, but it still bothers me that he's not black and blue (in the literal sense). And I hope that the butt-kibble folds up better than what it does in the package.

Note he has four of them. Maybe they're meant to fit two in each hand, so he can quad wield?
Leader Class Grimlock certainly looks better in robot mode than his oddly elongated beast mode, but I'm still not too keen on him. Were it not for the absolutely terrible beast mode, I'm sure I'd go for the voyager.
All the Deluxe Dinobots look like winners, though I'm on the fence about Slash. There are some positives.
Posted by frogbat on April 1st, 2014 @ 5:14am CDT
prime - i don't have a feel for this version - looks very blocky or backpacky
grimlock - need to see the film to make up my mind, but he seems the weakest. Perhaps cos one's expectations ride high.
the other dinobots look great though they give me a bionicle like vibe

Not all spinosaurus species were bigger than a T-rex.

Correction: Hasbro gives a flying flip about proper scale, no way around it. No need to rationalise it, it's the cold hard truth.

The 8+ is indeed odd, But understandable. Also happy they didn't go like 13+ or even 18+

Yeah, I'm not sure if anything higher than 8+ would really swing that well with the toy stores.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:GuyIncognito wrote:The "Ages 8+" is really interesting. So what we got here is:
- Rescue Bots: Ages 2 and Up
- Robots in Disguise: Ages 4 and Up
- Generations: Ages 8 and Up

8+ is stupid IMO. I can't imagine that those deluxes are going to be that complex, certainly not as complex as ROTF leader Prime for example which is 5+.
My son spotted that 8+ straight away and interestingly he was more interested in Drift than he was in the Dino's.

It's likely all just a marketing ordeal. Hasbro probably wants to get people to notice that the Generations toys are aimed at the older demographics, but since they still have to market them as children's toys, they need to keep the age limit low enough to keep it in the kids range but high enough to not be in the same lower leagues as the younger RB and RID lines.MightyMagnus78 wrote:8+ is stupid IMO. After all, I doubt that the stores would wanna put "Age 18 and Up" items in the children's toy sections.

True, I just think its all a bit unnecessary. That said my son still gets frustrated with Beast hunters Smokescreen even now, so I can understand why they might think this was a good idea.

The initial pictures looked kinda cool, but seeing this.... this utter crap (sorry for those who do like them) makes me feel sad. How could they have possibly botched G1-reminiscent-Optimus? How? That abominable face! The empty space on the back side of his truck mode! Blue upper arms! Why not make them red to get a coherent feel and make him look more like his old self at least? Sheesh...
Lucky me there are still tons of G1/Beast Wars/Generations/Classics bots to find and collect.
I'm sure someone will find these figures cool, which is fine by me. But personally I think they don't deliver. At. All.
Ah well.....

Yep, that about sums it up.
The other figures are something of an unrecognizable nightmarish mess too but I find less at fault with them than I do Drift. Granted they fall somewhere between an attempt at making a Rorschach Test and H.R. Giger themed bondage equipment in terms of appearance (yes, even the Optimus figure) but hopefully the kiddies wont make that connection until at least their third round of nightmares.
And those are the redeeming qualities...

You know what Drift's role in the film will be?!T-Macksimus wrote:Been trying for 20 minutes to properly phrase my complete and total slam-fest of this incarnation of the Drift toy, it's character in the upcoming film and Bay's and Hasbro's involvement and their total lack of decency and respect in the creation of this character, and trying to phrase it all in such a way that I wouldn't get mobbed by an angry horde. It isn't working too well! I'll just leave it at "I find this figure offensive, his role in the upcoming movie to be in VERY poor taste and invite Hasbro and Michael Bay to take this deluxe class figure and shove it up their a**!"
Yep, that about sums it up.
