What is most bizarre though is that at first it seemed like you had to stick those app stickers yourself. There are molded indents on the figures and the faction symbols are found on a separate sheet.
This is what Matt has to say:
While each figure clearly has a space for a faction symbol sticker, they are not stickers at all. The faction symbols are printed on the paper and meant to be scanned individually. The instructions also say nothing about stickers. Guess you gotta get your own?
Matt from Japan
Curiouser and curiouser. In any case, enjoy the photos Matt sent us!

He found this set of four legion class figures at Toysrus for ¥3,499 (which is 29$ US for all four and 7.25$ US each which is the SAME price the Hasbro counterparts sell for in the west). This set includes the Takara versions of Robots in Disguise legion class Optimus, Underbite, Grimlock and Steeljaw.

Trying to appeal to the people that hate the "poker chips" as they call them, who pull them off of the figures they buy? Still seems weird that they wouldn't be a sticker for others that don't mind to apply.

william-james88 wrote:Also, while I like your beaver joke, we actually have loonies which is just as funny but true. Our dollar has a canadian goose on it (I know I know, BIG SHOCK!), and the name of that bird is also a loon, so we call it a loonie. But then we are made fun of for being Looney
The loon is a completely different bird from a Canadian goose.
loon
Canadian goose
So um... ever been a loon or Canadian goose transformer? uH,,, oh crap still not really on topic.. uh.. in the TAV line, any cons with goose or loon like characteristics? Yeah, that's the ticket...
Sorry, just we've got tons of Canadian geese in the pond across the street, and also sometimes loons, and they're very different in many ways, that the photos just won't show, so I wanted to make sure it was pointed out they're different.

Heck, even the "Ultimate Mode Optimus Prime" has a mechanism to replace the unsightly label with a "correct" Autobot symbol.
Those stickers were not popular. Let's hope that they never use them in subsequent lines.

Yeah, they should go back to the TF Cybertron way of just punching in a code. Sure, the codes are easier to just copy and paste into aps, but it's not like people weren't scanning the RID codes in stores and from photos online anyway. Hasbro, you don't need to ruin decent figures just because you want to show off your latest technology.

Heck, they already do that, the codes simply serve a separate purpose

Jazz is certainly an upgrade from my Hasbro version, and the shades look sweet, but Drift is the real stand out in this duo. One really nice touch with Drift (sorry Chuck, I watched the vid, but can't remember if you covered this) is that everything on the figure we perceive as black, is actually navy blue. It's hard to discern from photos, even mine, but it really adds a richness to his deco. You can almost make it out on his feet in the pic above.
And that Tigertron head sculpt is d, d, d, d, DOPE!

I was so busy rejoicing over Jazz's painted rear windshield, I didn't even notice the unpainted rims. But to be fair, Drift has translucent wheels just like the show version figure.Hellscream9999 wrote:Man, Wait! Where'd the painted rims go, I take that back, these figures need more paint

mi amigo, wasn't serious about that but when someone makes fun of the original (as I said, post G1 Bb by Bay is the yellow menace) I go cuckoo locco....
Anyways, if I got it correctly, the "mook" has a coupon and you need to mail it (domestically) within a deadline and they ship it to you. Scalpers are gonna make a killing unless there's a set for the Asian market.

Except that it is not Viper. It is Dogfight and just uses the Viper retool of the mold. Also Takara didn't make a conscience decision to make this figure a Million Publishing exclusive. Just like FunPub does with Hasbro, Million came up with the idea, presented it to Takara and they approved it. Takara may still use the head later down the road.

Well, I mean, its viper to them like zombie breakdown is offroad to them; but you're right, they could use it in the legends line - despite none of the other new legends being listed in it yet

I don't think that's even the biggest problem here. The bigger issue is making fans buy the magazine to get Runabout's other half and one of Override's partners or making kids buy the magazine they probably don't want to get two figures for the kid's line. All of the previous Million/Hero-X exclusives have been for the current kid-friendly collector's line (G1 reissues, Henkai, Generations, etc.), but this is the first time they've done exclusives for the current kid's line with a cartoon tie-in (Transformers Adventures). Seems a little crueler to the kids than getting a freebie from TRU after spending 3,000JPY, about US$25 which isn't much since a Deluxe/Warrior figure is 2,700JPY.

Yeah, that was either pre-planned between the two of them, or million x pre-empted TT's releasing the second twin; or TT didn't want to release him, and shelved the idea 'til someone else wanted it, but it all amounts to the same thing => d|ck move
On a related note, is it difficult to obtain this if you live in Japan?

Yes and no. I'm not sure how the magazine dating works in Nippon but the mook itself was scheduled t obe released or solicited last Nov 2015. So once you received it you must clip the coupon and mail it ASAP before a certain cutoff. Pray your mail makes it before it. I think you also pay for shipping depending how far the Prefecture you live in.

meh, not bad; the popularity of the figures + small production run, I get it; if hasbro/funpub did a mail-away for figures, I bet it would be a big thing (I know tfss, but this is cheaper and a one-shot)

Wolfman Jake wrote:It's not really THAT wacky that Million Publishing is doing a Transformers Adventure exclusive this time. Yes, TAV is ostensibly a line aimed at younger fans, but adults will collect it too, either out of interest in the new characters and fiction, or because Takara crammed in a bunch of "Classics" releases in there as well (Powerglide, Cosmos, Override, Shrapnel, Bombshell, Runabout, etc.). Kids might be interested in this exclusive, but why should they be? They have no idea who Dogfight or Runamuck are. They're not "must have" characters or even featured on the current cartoon. Only older fans will understand who they are and want them for the sake of "completion." Takara and Million Publishing are NOT sticking it to kids with this box set.
Really? When I was a kid, and I saw anything advertising a giveaway of tf's I'd be gunnin' for them irregardless of who they were
