Earthrise Scorponok is ready to ship out in a few weeks and we are getting more photos of him in hand. Takara posted images showing his scale with other Titans like Metroplex, Fortress Maximus, and Trypticon. We also have an image of him and all his Transformers Earthrise brethren which includes a properly transformed Earhrise Arcee, the Quintesson judge, Doubledealer and Snapdragon.

What do you think of the scale, and will you be getting this Titan day one or waiting for a sale?

i think it's perfect that he's about the same height as Fort Max.

Man Trypticon is too short. Oh well.

Alicons aren't voyagers. Not that I'd mind huge aligators, but they seem to be just a bit taller than cliffjumper.

Much better looking than G1 Fort Max vs G1 Scorponok.

I'll do it.....

When over 9000 other will have already done.
Because I didn't preorder and I know it will be on sale sooner or later.

Love all the micromasters inconspicuously posed leaning against bigger bots' legs cause only, like, half of them can stand on their own. Great little guys, but they definitely stay in vehicle mode most of the time.

That aside, I can only dream to have those four Titans lined up one day, Unicron in the middle. If I can afford them maybe I can afford a strong enough shelf to hold them... :michaelbay:

I don't know about that. Ever since Trypticon was hugely discounted, they haven't really done it. I've still only ever seen Omega Supreme stay full price, if not sold out completely.

One thing for sure. Wetawds price drops like for Metroplex and Triptycon is a thing of the past. Now they seem to not overproduce the titans and they seem to be fairly distributed. Sales still happen but they are more "normal".

When Omega came back in stock at Walmart at 200$CAN instead of the normal 250$CAN, I made sure to get him. It was around the 3rd time I saw it on sale, but the sales mostly happen at Toys R Us.

It will be the same thing with Scorpy. I'm not paying 250$+ for him, but at 200$ or lower, I'll bite.

Well IMO Scorponok is the best-looking Titan yet, so I think he's worth the preorder price. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be hollow everywhere like Metroplex and be really light. But it doesn't seem to be the case.

The shelf strength struggle is real! I have a shelf that's bowing in the middle from Legends Grand Maximus's weight. No idea how I'm going to display Unicron...

Since army building isn't exactly cheap, I'm planning to get just a pair of Allicon to flank the Quintesson, with the idea that these are his goons which protect him. Getting just one is not enough for something meant to be army built but he's still a Deluxe and those obviously aren't completely cheap. Two seems like a good number: enough to form a guard position around the Quintesson, as well as to display in different modes, no?

The only reason they made Metroplex's Titan toy so tall was to make it surpass G1 Fort Max in height so that it could be the new "tallest TF EVAR!"... only for Titan class Fort Max to take back that title a mere three years later, and which will be claimed anew by Planet class Unicron next year.

And the result of making Metroplex that tall was a Metroplex who was too skinny (G1 Metroplex was CHUNKY!) and too weak in the hips. Had the toy been just a bit shorter, then some of the mass that went into his height could have instead been used to better his proportions and stability.

I wonder if we will see a Titan Metroplex 2.0 eventually?

Because seriously, the fact that he's so thin and tall affect the base mode as well, where it's just the bot sitting down. A chunkier bot like Omega Supreme could result in a much better city mode.

I hope we see an updated Metroplex. Not just a straight reissue, but a reworked, more proportionate figure. Maybe a Titan version of the G1 figure?

Funny you say that, because transformation-wise that's what T30 Metroplex largely is, despite the WFC aesthetic. Could definitely use base connectors and Combiner Wars limb sockets though. And shorter thighs to bring him more in line with the original's proportions.

Hasn't Warden said he'd love a crack at Metroplex? If he were to do it, he'd make sure that metro scaled better to tryp and looked more like his G1 self. Plus I think it is the bots turn for titan class again next year...

Agreed. But then I always thought Scorponok looked the best visually out of the original four designs, too. It is quite annoying that it took the entire line of City Bots before they stopped giving us sticker sheets and just did the decal work themselves, as normal. >:oP

I doubt we will see a new metroplex any time soon with the Japanese re-release not being that long back but I would probably buy a more g1 looking bot as long as it had the same if not more features than the original toy. Omegas the only titan I haven't really wanted, orig toy is decent and the platinum yots fits with titans return stuff so if I had the money or choice platinum would win out as I have the third party upgrade kit already.

At least with sdcc Fort max the stickers were already factory applied.

Again, it's because Metroplex was made too tall. His height set an impossible standard for Trypticon's height to measure up to. Had Metroplex been a bit shorter, while keeping the same amount of mass by distributing better throughout his body, then Trypticon's current height would have been more of a match for his rival. But instead, Hasbro's main concern about Metroplex was "Make him too tall for his own good!"

That looks nice, but I'll pass. I'm told bots such as Sixgun, Brunt etc originally came with the City Bots, in one form or another. As I make my own figure displays on them, I'll stick with the bots that do still come included. Like Full Tilt and Cerebros.

Yeah that will be interesting. A Roritchi Selects version has been confirmed IIRC, it being gold, and the Spear being red..... They may do a combination? As a 49ers fan I've always thought red and gold go well together ;)

Additionally, since Hasbro mentioned Black Zarak directly, and with the supposed Roritchi selects repaint coming...Can a :TAKARATOMY: Selects Black Zarak really be that far fetched at this point...??

At this point, it might just be something that they think would be nice to see happen rather than something that is guaranteed to happen. At present, they may be waiting first to see how well Scorponok does, financially, before deciding to tackle BlackZarak.

I understand that Legends Grand Maximus was a bit of a letdown in that it didn't meet the pre-order requirement to include the additional Pretender accessory, but I have it, and think it is great. Also the pre-order was only available to fans in Japan at the time. I understand its not definitive, and that Scorponok sales could definitely weigh in on determining whether its viable or not. The fact that they have *sold out* on Scorponok pre-orders 3 times on Pulse, and have obviously *upped* production to open for more pre-orders is definitely a positive sign. Perhaps Hasbro could offer BZ as its next Haslab crowdfund project, obviously a smaller price point, and smaller pre-order requirement than Unicron (I mean other than Primus himself, what toy could be as big or BIGGER than Unicron...??)

Well, for me those Cities will be woefully incomplete without their partformer partner. The original had them after all.

By moral principles I also give them 3 teams of Micromasters. As for the one that didn't had a part partsformer partner, I give them one. Like I gave Omega Supreme Ironworks.

In response to this, I've come across this rather astute post over at The Allspark:
They said the same thing about Metrotitan.

People talk big about buying "obvious repaints" but the minute Black Zarak comes out through some non-mass-retail option and is $200+ there'll be a chorus of "I'll wait until clearance" or "such-and-such third party will be better" or "I'll buy a loose stolen one off eBay".

The one thing that might work in favour of a Black Zarak release being that he was a popular G1 iteration in Japan itself. Much like the King Poseidon release, that by the same token, meant nothing to the western fanbase.

Bad example since King Poseidon (who was just a thuggish mook in Japan, compared to BlackZarak's main antagonist role) shared his same toy in the West as Piranacon. The Seacons were beloved on both sides of the Pacific, even with lack of a cartoon appearance in the West.

No, no, I mean the SELECTS redeco of Piranacon into King Poseidon. Since Black Zarak would most assuredly be in the SELECTS range?

I can only speak for myself. I did purchase Grand Max on sale at BBTS because I was in a "not-so-great" financial situation when it first came out a few years back. King Poseidon I paid more than retail for because of HP ridiculously short pre-order window, and no indication, in hindsight, that they would even be offering them when they were actually released, as quickly as those sold out as well.

Scorponok- pre-ordered on Pulse
God Neptune -pre ordered on Pulse

For now at least, I can put my money where my mouth is, tomorrow may be different, but I'd definitely pre-order a BZ for $200 if I could today. Metrotitan I can understand would have far less appeal, but as a fan of Big Transformers in general I'd get it for sure, but I could understand how it would have far less appeal and be deemed far too risky by the powers that be.

Unfortunately, all the City Bots are in City Mode only. As it is all I've got the room for. Fortunately, the joints on his legs and indeed, tail section, in City Mode look effectively like a series of launch pads and runways which work quite well. The Cyclonus Armada however, sit in arrow formation around the City.

Again, it's because Metroplex was made too tall.

Again, Tripticon is the shortest citybot making him too short. He's shorter than Scorpinok. Shorter than Omega Supreme. The dino is short. You can blame every single other citybot or you can pick out Tryppy as the shortest one.

If we're talking about hypotheticals I could also say they could have tweaked Tripticon to make him hollower and have more mass to work with. If we're dealing with even more hypotheticals then they could have tweaked his design to make him leaner and taller - Metroplex wasn't G1, Tryppy doesn't have to be G1. If we're working with even more hypotheticals they could have upped the price. Hypotheticals can be fun.

I'll hypiteticate further by saying why not do the same as that 3P WFC Trypticon and sell him as TWO separate full priced citybots that combine to make the full Trypticon? I'm sure this would have sold veryyyyyy well!

Well, at that price point, it would be freaking mandatory.

More like Metroplex was always too tall.

He's the shortest titan in that picture. I get that it's due to mass. Still too short, though.

I can easily explain the not G1 metro to slavish G1 tryp... Change in design team ;) Warden didn't do Metro but he did go tryp, so wouldn't suprise me if he did tryp knowing he'd get another shot at metro. Also why should it matter of tryp is shorter then Scorp or omega? He never really interacted with either of them and they're perfectly scaled to their rivals. Tryp is the only one who isn't... Yet.
