I was a little concerned that the skeletal nature of the upper arms would not fit well into the Classics theme, but from these pics it seems all good. The light grey rubbery gun and swords will need a good hot bath by the looks of things though.
I keep wondering, and looking into the translucent plastic of the eye sockets, whether or not the skull/samurai head is a Jetfire-esque helmet with a robot head beneath. It would be awesome if it was. Considering the story on the back of the package they could put some nasty battle damage on the smaller robot head, hence the mask Phantom styles! I live in hope. Looking forward to a video review.
Edit: Just noticed the over-the-shoulder scabbard for the sword. Awesomesauce.
Also, the tank wheels are begging for a drop of paint, pale grey, black and orange? No... Gunmetal.

When you heat that kind of plastic with hot water it goes like jelly. So heat it, hold it in the right position, then cool it, i.e. by dunking it in cold water, and it will hold that shape.

It is looking like Bludgeon will be my very first movie figure.

Holy crap on a stick. I'd glossed over that thinking it was just half transformed - but that is cool.
I suspect his smaller blade will be able to store away somewhere too.

So that's what that was? I thought it was just showing some mech live feature.

You see that pale grey section inside the folding half in the centre-right of that pic? It is a scabbard, it is visible in the Hasbro shots too over his shoulder. In vehicle mode it folds in and lines up with the gun barrel so you can put the sword down it to make the end of the tank cannon.

my god... EPIC WIN
after looking at these pics over and over trying to figure out what everyone was referring to, i fell in love with the color scheme and the overall aesthetic of the piece, the face is far less cartoony than ti thought and is in fact ghoulish, the figure has lots of bulk and what appears to be a pleasing transformation and plenty of gimmicks!
i can't wait!!
thanks Dreadwing for the clarification!

I am pretty excited about this figure. I have already mentioned it to my friend in the States to pick it up when it appears there.
When Peaugh reviews it we will hopefully see whether that is a skull-head or a skull-mask. I hope its a mask, it would be a nice nod to Bludgeon's pretender heritage.

Since the Wakizashi slides into the side of the tank in vehicle mode, and you can see the socket in the mis-transformed hip kibble in that back shot, my best guess is that it will slide into the left hip armour somewhere, wherever that socket ends up.

As for the "bendy" plastic, the hot water trick indeed works. I just gave Robot Heroes Predaking a hot bath last night to correct some pieces that got bent while he served time in his plastic bubble prison. After his hot bath, he turned out good enough for me to photograph. Probably could have used a little more work, but he turned out pretty good in my opinion.

Ill probally get him since my focus is collecting Decepticons, but why is this weird mold getting such great reviews by everyone ??? The whole samurai concept is silly to me. Such a nice tank mode would have been better as a Voyager Brawl because the deluxe lacked detail and the Leader is to far off scale...
We love him because of this:

He's the perfect homage.
Also the Leader Brawl is pretty good scale wise.

Damn this is the most badass TF this year.
It looks less organic to me and these up close pics make me feel much better about the skull face. I like it much more.
When I first saw the bendy sword, I thought "Great, a katana or tachi." but now that I know it's supposed to be straight, happy days!
Very cool figure, I can't wait to get one.

Excellent, excellent figure, aside from the rubber bits. Could be the best TF since Universe Cyclonus. And if the bendy rubber is indeed fixable by hot water (Vector Prime CAN have a straight sword?!?! WHOA.), the only flaw is gone!. I love the sword scabbards, the amazing level of detail, the perfect color scheme, and the excellent homage. I predict this guy being very hard to find in stores due to demand.

Erm... Vector Prime had a problem with a bendy sword? Mine (the Classics/Universe repaint I like to call "The Last Autobot") has a nearly perfectly straight one...

vectorA3 wrote:Bludgeon was actually first revealed at Botcon '09's Hasbro presentation. They had a strict no photos or video policy. Then at SDCC (2 months later) absolutely no restrictions. Thought that was weird, but guess they wanted the botcon showing to be special. There really wasn't any difference between the botcon and SDCC presentations really - maybe 2 or 3 new toys and fully painted prototypes of the ones that were gray @ botcon. Disappointing, but I guess I can't complain b/c many don't even get to go to those panels.
The news post was referring when it was first revealed to the public. 90% of the fandom never saw it prior.

Sorry, it's 4x less expensive to do a repaint than make a new mold. Think what toy companies are going to do most of the time...

Speaking of repaints, I wonder if Hasbro thought to make a sprue with a different head, chestplate, crotchplate, feet and weapons? Then they could repaint it black, add some bright orange paint apps and have an awesome Classics 'The Fallen'. Hell, if they could do that, they could have another sprue, and repaint Bludgeon purple and grey and you got a Voyager Galvatron tank.
As far as repaints go, I would love to see a Voyager Classics/Universe Starscream mould, ideally as an F22. They could repaint that til the cows come home and I would keep buying them.

i'm on board with that idea, I really want a War Within Fallen that's not craptacular Titanium Series. And Voyager Classics Seekers would be awesomesauce smothered.
