They compare both of their minibots to the Legends class Optimus Prime on their site.

I love the prices on the minibots ($15 preorder), but not thrilled about the Ironhide/Ratchet prices ($110 preorder, $120 afterwards).

For that price, I've purchased their "Masterpiece" figures, which are much larger. Here, we're looking at Deluxe-sized figures. Maybe we can compare it to Warbot: size is small Voyager/large Deluxe, may or may not have die-cast like Warbot, but comes with TONS of cool looking accessories.

Again, not thrilled with the price, but I'll look towards getting both, as well as the mini-bots.

Wanted to preorder Ironhide and Ratchet, but $220 is a LOT of money for a figure to be released so far into the future. If history is any indicator, there will be delays, if not a cancellation. Would I get my money back if the figure fell through? $30 for Huffer and Seaspray was a risk I was willing to take so I preordered those.

I agree whole heartily! Look at the quality and what you get with FansProject and PerfectEffect for cheaper. I know it sounds retarded but if it's true that they're cheaper now, I have an impulse to bite the bullet on these....even just to save $20+. Do we know for a fact they're at a discounted price right now?

IT'S a HUNDRED AND TEN DOLLAR DELUXE!!!! Dude, come on, that's steep. I'm not saying it's so ridiculous that I'm not getting them, I'm saying it's (as far as I'm aware) the most expensive figure of that size ever released by a 3rd party. Record setting price tends to make it unobtainable for some people. Me? I'm just not going to eat for 2 weeks! :D

Unless iGear disappeared altogether, yes, you would get your money back. They're not going to be doing much future business if they took people's money and didn't deliver the product.

Yes, I love the accessories the not-Ironhide and not-Ratchet come with. True, the price is definitely more than I would like to pay, but if I were to get the money, I would buy them both. I mean, these guys do look awesome, and in my little opinion, they are great homages to Ironhide nad Rachet...........

I just noticed something else. On their pre order page they show Ironhide next to a G1 Optimus Prime. He towers over G1 Prime making him Voyager height. Universe Ironhide is actually shorter than G1 Prime. This kind of justifies the price, but the scale throws me off too much to purchase. Im trying to fill in gaps in my classics collection, not start a new supersized collection.

No idea, but I preordered the PP Seeker set back in Nov'11 and I'm still patiently awaiting the arrival of the last two figures. I knew it'd be a long wait, though, so I'm not saying anything negative.

Well, iGear could choose to change the prices at any time. I preordered Bee01 & 02 for the sale of $30, and now that they are released you can still get that price.

I'm curious though about getting it cheaper. TFSource has the 3 PP jets for a lot cheaper than iGear currently has it; however, I preordered them for even cheaper, but the shipping they charged was incredibly high. I'd probably have done better with TFSource preorder and shipping all 3 together, but TFS only opened this up a few months ago.

Think about this way. I think these figures are perfect for a Classics collection. They look a lot better than the Takara/Hasbro renditions, and come with TONS of cool looking accessories. If you did not get Takara/Hasbro versions when they came out, they can be had in the secondary market for almost similar prices to what iGear is asking now... it's a judgement call, sure. But I just need to plan to spend some serious cash on these guys.

$110. Yikes. I knew they'd be expensive but this is still a little surprising. They look really nice but I'm definitely not getting them. The minibots look cool too but I'd rather wait and see how competitive MakeToy will be.

Good call, and thanks! I don't have G1 Prime out to compare to my Classics figures, but it's good to have a better approximation now. And now, better to justify prices.

I have to agree with this. Keeping the figures in scale is pretty important to me. Sometimes more important than the price. The minibots are too small and Ironhide/Ratchet's too big...I'm sitting these out for the time being for these exact reasons. Plus there are still no coloured protos...

Those are pretty awesome, but $110 is kinda steep. Hopefully TFSource will have them for cheaper.

I got out my G1 Primer for ref and compared him to some other Generations guys

Kup - Kups head is about to the top of Prime cab (about a head height shorter overall)

Inferno - Reverse of Kup. Prime's head comes up to the top of Infernos cab, with Infernos head makining about 1" or so higher.

Most of the generations guys are way shorter unless you take into account doors/wings and missles.

I agree with you. The price may be more than what people expected but it's not outrageous when all of their accessories and the amount of detail on the figures are taken into consideration. My only concern is QC. Some parts look a little fragile. I also wonder how well balanced they are. Are they going to fall over easily?

I like the scale of Ironhide and Ratchet. They will fit well in a MP collection. What are the chances that these figures will be on other sites for preordering?

Lacking a G1 Prime and Inferno, I did my best comparing side by sides. But if my SWAG is right, they are just shy of City Commander. Ironhide being that big is pretty cool, but Prime was always bigger than him. Hopefully this will get me to quit messing with my budget.

I really like Rager, I just wish he was bigger. I'm one of those that like what HasTak has done with Classics Powerglide and Seaspray, taking G1 mini-vehicles that SHOULD realistically be bigger, and making them bigger.

So since Huffer was a big rig, I'd really like it if Rager was bigger.

The other thing is, Spray and Rager may be close to Legends-size standing up, but Rager is WAY bigger than Legends Optimus in truck mode.

So they don't REALLY fit with other Legends. Maybe Legends Commanders, but not really Legion-Legends.

As for Weapons and Medical, I really like them, too. But in their case, I wish iGear would offer different price points. Like JUST the figures for $50, the figures and half the accessories for $80, and then the figures and all accessories for $110.

They all really are great looking figures, but Rager is too small for my tastes, and Weapons and Medical are out of my price range. I WOULD drop $50 or $60 just for the figures, though. There's no way I would ever need all those accessories.

SPRAY is a pass. I just don't like how it looks with all the ribs on the skirt and his chest, aswell as the horizontal strips on his shins. Plus I already have both Hasbro's and Takara's HFTD Voyager Seasprays which I'm very happy with.

The SPECIALIST duo look friggin' awesome, although some clear plastic windows wouldn't have gone amiss. The level of detail (just look at the inside of those legs!!!) and the range of accessories I think fully justifies the price. However, scale is very important to me too and their size combined with their aesthetics to me means they'd definately look slightly out of place in a Classics collection; my primary focus. Begrudging pass x2.

RAGER is the winner for me. The smokestacks in vehicle mode are significantly oversized, but that may be downplayed once the figure is coloured with the prominent orange. Robot mode looks excellent. AND HE'S WEAPONISED!!! Yes, he's smaller than I'd like, but for ONLY $15 I think I can live with it. Besides it's not like we're drowning in Huffers.

I agree that $110 for Ironhide and Ratchet is a lot of cash but considering they are voyager sized and armed to the teeth, it is understandable.

I know this is a rough comparison but you get the general idea. $110 for 3rd party voyager sized figs is pretty good. Arcee was the same price and she is a Deluxe sized figure.

What sort of gets me is the duplication of accessories. Yes, when you take the accessory packages into account along with figure size, the prices don't seem too bad (although I still think they're too high and iGear's just trying to see how far they can push us). But they share a lot of the same stuff. If you're interested in just one figure that's great. If you want to get both, you're forking over a lot of cash for duplicate parts, even if they're color-coded for each figure. Why does not-Ratchet - you know, the "medical" specialist - need a combat knife? Or a tripod-mounted sniper rifle?

I know. I really really want a better Ironhide then what we got from Hasbro, but two factors are keeping watching on the sidelines for the moment. Price and size. I'm just really focusing on Classics/Generations, and with Ironhide being as big if not slightly bigger then the Classics Vger Prime, it would look a little weird.

But when Impactor comes out, That's the scale I do want him in. I hope that they make him THAT size.

I dont mind that Ironhide is a little big, i think it suits the character of an old tough warrior with thick armor. ratchet on the other hand should probably be smaller being a medic but hey, he shares the same protoform as 'Hide so what can you do.

im REALLY tempted to drop 220 on these guys, but i cant pull the trigger just yet. ill have to sell off some stuff before then, maybe get rid of the universe hide and ratchet before i ante up...

Edit: looks like Nightbird went down in price, maybe if we hold off PP05 will follow suit

I'm really liking the look of the figures. The Spray and Rager look very nice. I don't mind their diminutive size. They're homaging Minibots afterall. The Ironhide/Ratchet "specialist" figures look great to me. They're surprisingly slim at the torso from profile view. I like how the parts are configured in bot mode. The array of accessories is also quite nice. I don't know why but the cannons that resemble one of the Bayverse Ironhide's arm cannons amuses me.

I'm not someone who approves their mini copies of MP figures but I applaud iGear for their impressive looking foray into fully transformable toys that they've designed themselves.

I can see how some people balk at the $110 price tag of the Specialist figures but that's with free shipping. At least if you pre-order, you get a $10 discount.

I was really hoping the weapon and medical specialists are smaller so they can be a little bit cheaper, also better fit with the scale of Voyager Prime and other CHURG line deluxe. Yes, I also think the accessories are a little bit too much and they added up the price.

is it safe to say he in good proportion to Classics/Henkei Optimus?

Umm did you not see my post? It was only at the bottom of the last page.

I'm very tempted to get Ironhide and Ratchet. I like Seaspray and Huffer, but their size is deterring me. I wish they were a little bigger.

I feel the same way but we have until December ;)
I wish Impactor was this size but I doubt it is any bigger than Warpath.

With everybody concentrating on what these guys will look like in among the Classics toys there's been no mention of how well they'll scale alongside Bin/Alts. With Ironhide and Ratchet being two obvious omissions from those lines I figure that if I decide to pony up for these (and I am sorely tempted) that's where they'll be going.

I'm afraid that the vehicle mode of a van, will be considerably smaller the any of the Alternators (maybe windcharger/arcee). But from the height comparisons, I'm gonna say close to an inch shorter than Skids.... I have a different theory: Igear has created their OWN SCALE. 3 Seekers, a Prime, Ironhide and Racthet, and we are only half way through the year!

These toys are smaller than Binaltech/Alternity figures for sure. BT/Alternity are 1:24 scale and these figures in alt mode don't look nearly large enough to be at that scale.

I think you meant Binaltech/Alternators. Alternity figures are depressingly small

I saw my first one at Botcon LAST year and was glad I never spent the money! Not much more than a scout class!!

I agree. If Ironhide doesn[t look right with my classics figures, He'll stand right next to my MP-10.

morphobots wrote:What sort of gets me is the duplication of accessories.

I want one "Mystery Machine" colored. I wonder what accessories would come with that one.
