With the Transformers fever ready to surge this summer, it's the most opportune time for third party companies to jump into the fray. None have been more controversial than third party
i-Gear, who among other things, have been making mini-sized replicas of Hasbro and Takara's Masterpiece Optimus Prime. Now iGear has decided to take advantage of the demand for Conehead Seekers. And have so announced
PP03E Elegy Fighter Team, a set of 3 Masterpiece Conehead Seekers Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet based on kitbashes by "wheeljack" of the Sector70 boards, you might know him as "Wheeljack-S70" which is his seibertron.com board name.
Check Elegy out below!
If you wish to see what Thrust and Ramjet might look like just check out their threads by clicking
here for Ramjet and
here for Thrust, they should be similar as i-Gear will be basing their figures on these.
With this product coinciding with Hasbro's release of
Generations Dirge, will Hasbro finally bring out the dusty law book and hammer down on a third party company? Only time will tell, till then...

As long as Hasbro keeps making transformers that mostly appeal to children there will always be a third party making stuff for the adult collector. (I hope)

omg, omg, omg.
Yes please make this, Thrust and Ramjet too. It is using Starscream as a base but is it a KO since no Dirge actually exists?
Edit* I wonder if there is any changes to the transformation. I always have a little trouble with the heads on the MP seekers. Not much just a bother sometimes.

I would have purchased this without a second thought if it was a full scale Masterpiece figure, third party company or not.... Would have put it right next to MP Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker. But the small size... nah... it doens't fit anywhere.
It looks fantastic though!

With the extra weight on the lower legs he'd be more stable but if those bits with the fins don't swivel his feet won't even touch the ground anyway so he'll be worse than the original...

MINE. This year surelly is a very expensive one, but i just realize that i say this all years. Whit this guy i will have to buy Megatron and Optimus Prime. This time my wife is really going to kill me, the best part is that she dosen't know the price so i can cheat her!

Only one question. Why MINI???
On the photo Elegy is in the same size as Mini Prime. But mini Prime is in the same size as MP Starscream. Or not?

I don't really know what to say about this but I guess I'll say something. Anyway why mini Dirge, why not mini Megatron, what happened to the plans on him? This is nice in all but how would it fit in with the classics line, Prime is an awesome size because he seems to fit in at the appropriate size a leader should be.
Also, what happened to the Predaking idea they had coming?

You are correct on the size, I think this will be full sized Masterpiece. There is nothing on the iGear website that suggests this is a Mini Masterpiece. Take a look at this picture. In both pics it is the Mini Prime.

Literally minutes before checking the seibertron headlines I was wondering when Takara will get on the conehead seekers. I'm pretty sure they're going to make them eventually so we'll see how this develops. I was all for the small Optimus and can't wait for him to arrive but I could see these getting shut down. Either way we're getting coneheads I guess!

I'm all for 3rd Party companies, but I don't like this KOmpany. Maybe it's because they don't have an original bone in their body... Still hoping to see HasTak bring down the hammer, but if they didn't do it after the blatant MP Prime theft, I'm not sure if they'll do it here.

The drop tanks look like the smaller (1500 liter) ones used on the Panavia Tornado. Dunno why somebody would mount those on his arms, but it's cool that he seems to have two attachment points on each wing.
There is *some* original engineering going on here. Not only the new wings, but the cone head must work differently than the original (yes, I used the word) MP mold, because on that version the nose of the jet isn't attached to the robot head at all. Probably that's a "dummy" nosecone on his head, but it'll still take some changes to tuck it away in jet mode.

You mean the design stolen from the custom job?
HasTak should beat them to the punch and announce the conehead seekers about two weeks before these hit, and at a cheaper price point than these modified KOs...

No, last December i-Gear released a pic of an upcoming product which was a silhouette of Predaking.

I guess I really should have looked at the picture a little better I guess I mainly read the title anyway I've changed my mind I like it but I don't think I want to spend $90 again actually they'll probably try and charge more because of it being a full size masterpiece figure.

Yup just like with their mini Prime, the head and hands are also downsized from a short run custom set by I think a Chinese kitbasher.

did anyone notice they named the wrong character here?

That Gold Optimus Prime (PP01) on i-gears web site looks fantastic. I have wanted a 'Golden Lagoon' Prime ever since I first saw the episode as a kid.

I hope the quality sucks for these, because if not, I'll have a very hard time resisting them. The Faith Leader figure was far from perfect, but still looks great with the Classics line. Having a full set of MP seekers with KO coneheads would be pretty badass, especially with Ghost SS too.

Waitaminute, I think those of you decrying iGear as "not having an original mold in their body" are forgetting a few items. Namely the show-accurate Autoscout (yes, the Gear of War Autoscout is a better toy, but at the cost of not looking as much like the one in 'A Prime Problem'), whichever Classics OP trailer they did, and that Teletran 1 HQ set (whose quality I have yet to see first-hand). They had been trying to fill some long overdue niches in my collection before they started announcing all of these actual knock-offs of Has/Tak toys, but that's exactly why I'm just as mad at them for these latest mini-masterpieces, because if they provoke legal action, it'll stop the flow of some other original stuff I'm REALLY looking forward to, like Con HQ, and especially those show-accurate Shark Sentries. It's bad enough that Impossible Toys had to quit the Quints before tackling obscure designs from "Forever Is A Long Time Coming" and "Dweller In The Depths", but the Quints I do have had better get some minions to do their legwork besides the Sharkti-Bot-Cons. I was optimistic that they'd tackle the Allicons next if those sold well, but now I'm just worried they're bending over and inviting a two-pronged legal foot up their reactor linkage.
Now, if they were doing some sort of enlarged and heavily modified remold of Darkmount on the other hand, that might just be worth the risk...

There has always been interest in the gold (chrome) plated transformers. If i-gears Gold Optimus Prime (PP01) is well made & doesn't start to flake etc. I think they'll forge themselves into peoples memory for a long time to come. Even though the PP01 costs US$300, if it turns-out to be well made, (it better be) people that buy them will be happy & I'm sure they will spread the word. I really hope the PP01 is good as I would really love one.
