I can finally replace my sold Henkei Rodders without having to put up with the uglyass paintjob on the cybertron 2 pack hot rod

So Takara, now that that is out of the way, you been watching the aftermarket price of Henkei Sunstreaker?
cannonfodder4000 wrote:Thus, rendering the recently announced knock-off, useless.
Not unless additional runs of Henkei Wildrider and Snidely Whiplash Shattered Glass Rodimus come off HasTak's assembly lines, which I find highly unlikely.

No. When a toy is KO'ed, the mold is milked. We'll see a Wild Rider and Shattered Glass Hot Rodimus. Not to mention a clear Hot Rod for those who don't want to pay out the absurd prices for the Takara version.

Whereas they repaint certain molds into bots/cons that have no resemblence to the new character

It comes down to how large the production runs are. The smaller the run, the more expensive it becomes since total cost is spread across a smaller surface.

We got him released in the battle in space, sons of cybertron... and even a KOLD is comming out. Man i would have loved a reissue of astrotrain or hound!

The original is always best I've always had a hard time deciding between Classics and Henkei Rodimus, but this tips it in Henkei's favor

Yeah... but people are probably contented with whatever version of hot rod they have... we need re issused of other less released molds

Not me. I have BiS Rodimus for my Universe 2003 shelf, Clear Blue for display with Cybertron Primus, and now I need one for my regular Neo-G1 shelf

You priced out a Classics or Henkei Roddy lately? From the aftermarket prices it's pretty obvious there's a lot of demand for Henkei Rodimus, driven by the release of FansProject's Protector armor/trailer set and the absence of a recently available at retail "normal" deco'ed version of the character.

I presently own a Classics Rodimus and a Henkei Rodimus, and will be buying two more Henkei versions when this hits.
I'd could use another Henkei Sunstreaker and Smokescreen, and I'd take two Henkei Alerts, but that about covers it.
If Takara really wanted to rake in some bucks they could always release a Henkei Ultra Magnus.

Have you taken a good look at CaC BiS Rodimus? When it fell out of the ugly tree it hit EVERY branch on the way down, and doesn't match the Protector armor:

I mean, really? The paintjob looks like a super-cheap KO.

I'm with gavinfuzzy here. I don't care how "rare" a particular deco of Rodimus is. The fact of the matter is that there are already a dozen redecos of this mould and it needs to stop.
Why can't we get reissues of the other classics figures that people desperately want? We've seen plenty or this Rodimus mould. If you don't own it by now, you're not trying hard enough.

Many fans consider it inferior to the original, and I partially agree. His color palette is simple, yet effective in capturing his cartoon look, but my main criticism is his lack of translucent plastic.

Henkei Rodimus went on Clearance on two different occasions on BBTS. They really should get on re-releasing some of the ones that went straight to sell out like Smokescreen, Skyfire, Astrotrain, and Inferno.

It's not a matter of rarity. It's a matter of UGLY.

Agreed. I never got my hands on Ratchet or Ironhide because the Universe line was cut short here when ROTF released. Now they're $60+ on ebay. Where are those re-releases?

You know, that kind of reminds me of the Stepper reissue. Everyone was under the impression that Stepper was the rarer of the two G1 Targetmaster retools, with Artfire being the other. But it was Artfire who was rarer, but Takara still reissued Stepper instead. The biggest irony is that it sold pretty badly.

Anyhow, I'll probably bite on this and use one (this or the Classics) as Hot Rod and retire the BiS version.

I seem to remember Skyfire and Astrotrain hanging around for quite some time, but Henkei Smokescreen and Alert were gone in the blink of an eye pretty much everywhere; they probably could sell quite a few Henkei Ironhide and Ratchets.
I'm guessing Takara is using aftermarket sales price to gauge demand, as they pulled this with Henkei Hound once he shot up on the secondary market. With Henkei Rodimus consistently going for three figures on auction sites, and even the Classics version being pretty pricey, doing a second run seems like a no-brainer.

On topic...Reissuing something that have been repainted like cats making babies(What I'm trying to say is ALOT)...That's really weird...BTW I think the RTS two-pack Rodimus is the best cause the paint apps look so G1-ish .

I was lucky enough to get mine over a year after he came out but a few months before the crazy price hike kicked in.
As for anyone hoping for a Wildrider reissue, Vince McMahon says it best; NO CHANCE IN HELL unfortunately.

Hound was reissued and is still in stock at most online stores... I think Astrotrain was reissued a few months back as well.

It is an interesting thing. I wonder if Takara is paying close attention to fan sites and secondary markets, or if retailers are requesting a reissue to fill their needs. The latter would be ironic because since he was pretty much a shelf warmer until Fansproject came along.

I had no problem picking up an Astrotrain for regular price. I'm surprised he's mentioned as 'rare' at all. Same for Skyfire.

I'm not getting it for the Protector armor, I just like the figure, particularly in vehicle mode (in which he'll be displayed) so $40 is a done deal for me .
