The chaos bringer is coming.

As of this moment, 10:22pm on October 5, 2019, roughly 26 hours before the final deadline, Unicron has made it. Reaching 8,000 backers per the Hasbro Pulse number, this means that we can finally announce to much fanfare and excitement that he will go into production!

Unicron is the first Transformers Haslab project, and he has successfully reached his goal. He will now move into production for a January 2021 release date. He stands 27 inches tall in robot mode, 30 inches in diameter in planet mode, and features a host of extra features such as a ton of articulation, the Autobot shuttle, a mini Galvatron and Hot Rod, interchangeable chins, and more!

If you still want to place your order, head on over to Hasbro Pulse, any of our sponsors, Kapow Toys if you are in the UK, and EB Games or Zing if you are Australia to jump on the wagon and make sure you don't miss out!

Congratulations everyone! We did it!

I was putting in my order at 7,997, and after I'd finished, it was at 8,006. :KREMZEEK:

I'm gonna put the suggestion out there that there will be a HasLab Primus at some point, which will be a retool of this figure.

A retool at THIS price? No thank you. For this price I'd demand an all-new mould.

That said, I'm not sure Primus / Cybertron is really the way to go. Cybertron rarely Transforms in the TF universe. Only in Cybertron and the tail end of Lost Light, right? He was just this chamber in the comics.

As of this post an extra 232 Unicrons shall be made.

Wonder how much more the number will climb now that it is over?

Edit: Only a few minutes later and that number is now an extra 262, it's climbing up fast

I don't know who else they would do. I can't think of anyone (outside of Primus) that would legitimately qualify for this scale of figure. THe Ark? Sure, but that's not something I'd back...especially as it wouldn't transform. The Nemesis? Same. Let's hold of on any speculation at this point though...we need cake and whiskey to celebrate.

A big non transforming Ark for figures would be amazing to have, it would be fairly empty space on the inside thus the majority of the plastic could just be the outside of it making the overall mass not that much compared to Unicron who is filled inside and out.

So hollow but solid if that makes any sense.

Or, what if about we just let this Unicron be a one-of-a-kind Planet Class toy of its own so we don't have to go through dropping this much money on a crowdfunded Transformer ever again? ;)

If Hasbro still owns the G.I. Joe brand... a USS Flag that transforms into Broadside would work for me

of course they own it, they created it. They'd have to sell it to not own it anymore. But to do the Flag they'd want to wait for G.I.Joe to become popular again.

And honestly I would be perfectly fine with a big Cybertron beach ball.

unicron1200 wrote:It really helps that they don't make you pay everything upfront, as well as supposedly still letting you do $4 flat rate shipping. I still don't fulling understand how TFSource does theirs, but I'm believe the shipping on Unicron will be completely free due to its price.

Pretty sure neither is respecting their standard shipping offers and are charging extra for shipping on top of the extra deposit.

BBTS wrote:Shipping cost is calculated using dimensional weight instead of actual weight. Due to USPS size restrictions, this item is not available to ship via USPS.

TFSource wrote:Note: due to oversized box, this item cannot be shipped outside of the US without significant additional shipping costs. Shipping cost will not be calculated correctly in checkout. Once actual dimensions and weights are known when the product is released we will bill each customer for the additional shipping costs. Free Shipping will not apply to this product.

Unicron is now at 8,383.

Australia has a track record of getting Titans BEFORE the US.

I was one of, if not, the first on these forums to get Devestator because I left work early and drove over an hour to get him on the day he was released at Big W, weeks before he was released in the US.

It's been a busy week, so I thought I'd check in today - Judgement Day - to see if made it. It did, I see. Oh well. To those that wanted this, congrats. Moving the goal posts seemed to do the trick for HasLab.

Now to come back to this thread in two years when the reality sinks in for the buyers. Can't wait to see the outrageous prices those that disingenuously backed this purely for resale on the secondary market will price it at...

You have such a pessimistic view of the fandom :-P I think the majority will be happy with what they have while a minority will have bought this as an investment, knowing resell will be double+ the original.

Congratulations to all those that wanted him and I look forward to all the photos :D

As for the next haslab? I don't think we'll see anything now till after Unicron makes it into people's collections.

 Perhaps

A few years ago the MoTU Classics [Collectors] line released a brand new Castle Greyskull. The same day as the release date, 15 of them appeared on eBay. Similar thing happened with MP Dinobot and BW Megatron. Some people look at these and just see Money signs, not as a thing they want to own. Personally I really hope the secondary market flounders with Unicron. To teach such scalpers a lesson. From several eBay Transformers I've sought out for friends in recent times, some TF sellers I've encountered seem to really suffer from delusions of grandeur.

EG. After haggling on the price back and forth, I received a PM from such a seller once, in answer to my last offer. They said to me "how much do you really want this figure?" At which point I ceased bidding and replied "not enough to be fleeced by a scalper!". Such people make my skin crawl.

The reseller market will be hilarious to watch.

There's going to be two types of resellers.

Those who flip straight away and target desperate people.
Those who wait 20 years and sell a MISB "vintage" Planet Class Unicron. - This type I don't have a problem with and there will only be a few of them. Will be interesting to see what prices they can fetch by then.
Re: Haslab Unicron Reaches 8,000 Backers and Moves into Production (2040906)

Oh yeah, those that wait and keep hold of MISB stuff I take no issue with. They plan in the long term, which is fair enough. I look back on some of the stuff I had as a kid and the prices it can fetch now. It is often mind boggling.

Now, how much over will Unicron be in sales numbers? I don't thing the % will be greater than the Barge, but It would be nice to reach almost 50%.

Well would ya look at that.

I have slight doubts that he actually hit 8000 backers (I wouldn't be surprised in the least if some of those "preorders" were set up by Hasbro themselves ala Disney buying their own Star Wars tickets and releasing them in free giveaways to artificially inflate box office numbers) but whatever. I just hope he turns out good so that people that dropped £600 on this thing enjoy it.

I also do hope the Zeta Unicron emerges from the void once more, just so there's more Unicron to go around. But anyway, let's see how this turns out.

What's funny is that the retailers like Kapow Toys and BBTS still haven't had their numbers added to the total, as of this typing.

With today being the last day for anyone to place a preorder, I don't think it'll get much over 9000, if even that high.

Yeah, wait and see till about midnight (er, Eastern time, that is) tonight if it does make it that high. Otherwise, the English dub of Kai provided us with a more Japanese-accurate alternative. ;)

Indeed. I personally thought it wasn't going to hit the 8000. Which technically, it didn't, under the original benchmark.

That said, HasTak have yet to release a single high end item without some noticeable fault. I wonder, given his price point, when Unicron's flaw presents itself, will the buyers be as forgiving? At his size, it will probably be a lot more significant than BW Megs crumbling crotch...
