At the New York Toy Fair 2014, as we know, Hasbro has revealed details of what the 30th Anniversary celebration this year will look like. Between Transformers: Age of Extinction and the variety of new items in the brand, including games, Kre-O figures, Constructbots, and more.

Says Eric Nyman, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for Hasbro, Inc:
TRANSFORMERS is one of the biggest brands in the world, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a year of tremendous innovation and excitement from our entertainment, our toys and our partners, with the most exciting big-screen installment yet, great programs from our publishing and digital partners and fantastic toys for TRANSFORMERS fans of every generation, we’re looking forward to the next 30 years of our favorite AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS.

Age of Extinction, due out in theaters in the US on June 27, will include a new case of human characters and brings in a case of new and returning robot characters; bringing back Optimus Prime and Bumblebee while debuting exciting new robot characters like Grimlock and the Dinobots.

In addition to the movie, there will also be the release of 73 fan-targeted Generations figures, with classic conversions and detailed and accurate figures from both the upcoming movie and from throughout the Transformers history.

From the press release:
… in celebration of The 30th Anniversary, a non-movie TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS line features the launch of a new scale, GENERATIONS LEADER CLASS, with the release of an incredible new JETFIRE figure. And the TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS DELUXE scale line will include the “Fan Built Bot” WINDBLADE, a new character who was designed with the help of TRANSFORMERS fans around the world! WINDBLADE will be the 30th figure in the “THRILLING 30” program, which features 30 limited-edition TRANSFORMERS figures in celebration of the 30th Anniversary.

Those Dinobots and the riders are just too cute. $5.99 is actually not a bad price considering their size. I think that if a really good customizer got their hands on those guys, they could really look sharp. Most of them are largely different sculpts, but it's hard to tell without a lot of paint

Im finding the AOE/Generations thing a little confusing. What is the point of crossing the lines over?

Generations is the catch-all term for more complex, collector-aimed toys.

Robots in Disguise is the simpler version of toys.

Age of Extinction, being a temporary event and line, falls under either of the two accordingly.

That's how I read it at least! :D

That's an accurate explanation I think.

pretty sure that's the same one as turns into the G1-esque flatnose cab. There are pics of it from the show, but it's in godawful plastic colours with little paint apps on the bot. Evasion Mode Optimus Prime. If they put it on shelves with the Toy Fair deco it'll be evading me buying it.

it's truly sad if you can be pleased be this.

hasbro has royal screwed the fans on this one. before, you could tell that they care a bit about money.. now, it's CLEARLY the only thing they care about. . screw quality products, screw people who have been with the brand for thirty years, screw people who aren't so dumb they need a button to transform a toy, and screw people who don't want their dinobots looking like fruit loops with elf shoes.

again.. if you think that this shit should please people.. that's sad.

i've noticed Grimlock is covered in orange in all of the recent toy pics across the internet. is this a change that happens in the movie because unless its just REALLY subtle, he doesn't look orange anywhere in the trailer. just looks full on gray/metal colored.

I take back SOME of what I have said about the new releases now that I have gotten more info about all of the lines and the rest of the pics have been revealed but I still hold with being underwhelmed by every single line and have zero faith in Hasbro and the retailers carrying the lines that we are going to have any decent kind of availability in my area or that Hasbro will actually follow through with the release of all of the figures they have presented us with at these shows thus far.

That having been said I have to admit that there are a few more Generations figures that look appealing and barely a handful of movie toys that almost look good. I'm still reserving judgement since I have discovered recently that a lot of the Generations figures look good in the pictures on here but once you get the package in hand they leave a lot to be desired. If the same holds true for the movie line I see picking up exactly one figure out of all that have been shown. Generations... I may pick up a total of a half dozen more of the upcoming ones by years end and spend time tracking down previous ones I've missed. Grand total being maybe 15 figures added to my collection from the start of the year till the end of 2014. Hasbro really isn't working that hard at getting my money if that's all the more they can get out of me over the course of 1 year.

The only good thing about these pieces of crap is the head that could maybe be used for modding purposes, and the solid emblems which can also be used for modding or sticking onto other TFs.

Well, the Generations line has a lot of figures I want to buy, and it seems at least one version of AoE Grimlock will be decent.

All is well.

"TRU exclusive". *sigh* Guess it's back to online buying for me again.

24 blindbags, so there's at least another wave coming. Hope those 4 Dinobots are actual Dinobots, and not made-up Dinobots like Silversnout or Torosaur.

12 Customs, is that including the first two waves (Starscream, Bumblebee, Galvatron, Jazz, Predaking, etc.)?

I wonder how the magnet thing works. There didn't seem to be any obvious magnets on the Dinobots, though I guess it'd explain what those things on all the Vehicons' backs are.

No word on if Wave 4 is getting a release? BBTS cancelled preorders on them...

I like the fact that hasbro made all new characters for the microchanger combiners. good way to even out the autobot/decepticon ratio.

The complex/fully engineered Grimlock looks awesome. Nothing like the Grimlock I'm familiar with, but still goddamn awesome. Drastic redesigns can go either way, and I'd say this went the right way.

The flat-cab OP looks cool too, but at present I don't need another Prime, unless my old 2001 RID Prime finally gives up the ghost.

The rest of the fully engineered "Generations" stuff looks good as well.

The more simplified stuff isn't my cup of tea, but for younger kids I think they'll be great.
