Going by the imagery in the listing (which prices the set at 1235 Yuan / 193 USD), the figures will be individually packaged and grouped together in a bigger box, sporting some nice Volcanicus art, plus an added notebook featuring the new dinobot combiner and the Power of the Primes logo. Check out the images below, and let us know what you think of this new take on the 'box set' idea in the Energon Pub Discussion Boards!

We know thanks to listings from ACD Distribution that Repugnus and Blast Off won't be exclusive to any one store. They're probably the closest to May Mayhem we're getting in this block of exclusives.

I'm also hoping for the best with Punch/Counterpunch. Heres to having my fingers double-crossed......
Ah ha! I see what you did there.
I'm sure Counterpunch will double cross more than your fingers.
I'm hoping Repugnus is a TR mold too. I'd think they would retool the same base mold used for Twinferno and Grotusque. I'd be fine with that.
The only other logicall option I could see is a retool of Ripper Snapper. That would be ok, but I'd prefer the TR option.
I share your preference, but it seems unlikely that he'll be anything but a combiner limb. Hasbro has been very strict about not breaking from play patterns in the Prime Wars Trilogy. The fact that Blastoff is apparently coming with a HFG instead of Prime Armor is already a huge deviation from the norm.
He will probably be double crossing my wallet lil.....
Is Blastoff the only one of the Combaticons coming in this line? I have seen or heard nothing about the others myself unless I missed it on the board....

Our luck he's gonna be harder. I got Grotesque from TRU so that's self explanatory

Blast Off is the only one, as he was "the wrong vehicle" back in Combiner Wars, and this is Hasbro's offer to rectify that. The rest of Combaticons will not see a re-release, which is a shame. A perfect opportunity to fix Brawl

The Rook mold (Specifically the Nosecode retool) would have made an awesome Brawl. Would we have cared about the mold reuse though?

We still need to see a Doubledealer cranked out for this line, too. My hopes aren't high, though.
Counterpunch would be fine with a cool "new twist" of two titan masters... but I hope they at least find some figure where you can change the look by flipping front to back. After two flawed versions, it would be nice to have one version knocked out of the park.
I think troop builders are the other missed opportunity for titan masters.... like, Wreck Gar could come with two or three heads or they could be included as an on-the-shelf single pack titan master. The could even do a rolling paint or plastic color change through the wave, or some add on weapons or armor that would change the look of the figure enough to display differently on the shelf and encourage multiple purchases.
Takara found a way to let us troop build sweeps, but I wish we could see that stateside to cut down costs. (That's kind of the point with troop building.)

Funny thing: Rook probably started out as Brawl, as the alternate head of the mold is supposedly that of the Combaticon. It would have seen use as Ironclad, a Technobot and part of the Computron set, with a Legends Afterburner, before Deluxe Groove became a thing.
I would be ok with Rook as Brawl actually, it wouldn't have been the first time Brawl was an APC:

As an aside, I'd love it if they retooled the chest and cranked out: Sideswipe, Red Alert, and G2 Sideswipe. (And maybe Deep Cover and his pal if they're feeling spunky.) Sideswipe is the only Ark member from MTMTE who hasn't gotten a combiner, seems like. (At least the "deluxe" sized crew.)
Actually wait... if they were working on that, maybe they will just use that mold for Punch/Counterpunch... and put it out as a pre-tool for Sideswipe.
I'm holding out hopes for this. Seems like could be best case scenario that's on the table.

As a fan of this form of distribution, I never thought there would be a "Box Set" that did not interest me. But I guess they found a way. The whole point of the "Giftset" idea dating back to the original series, and was reflected well in Unite Warriors, was not only to offer them all for a single price, but to have them display in a unique way as well. Granted Hasbro's Box sets for CW and TR didn't have window boxes, but they were still unique. This is just all the same packaging, just in a fancy Cube. You cannot put the figures back in "display mode" as you could with all the other box sets if wanted. Nope, this is an easy pass for me.

Also sad for those of us who want to round out a Unite Warrior set in matching boxes with nice paintings on the front.

I'm surprised they are releasing Skrapnel, I didn't think they would. Still nor Rodimus Unicronus..., and at this rate, they may get Novastar and Inferno before we do. Nice Original Animated series pairing btw...

Modulus (if anyone can get one proper...)
I'd love to have Boxes for all of them.

For anyone who attended the Build-A-Figure workshop at Botcon 2016, getting a 2nd complete Ratchet Build-A-Figure would be quite an accomplishment, for any who didn't (99% of the fandom), getting this is going to be pretty much a life-long quest. Yeah I know there is one lucky SOB out there that has all the figs, but if I ever complete this in my lifetime, it will be quite the feat.

And as for making a custom Medix, he IS entirely First Aid mold. Anyone really interested in putting together a Modulus character could throw one together for their Combiner Wars shelf for a grin without too much cost.
I say this knowing custom class WAS all about making customs.
That said, someone should sell me a Medix head. Shoot me a PM.

Worth noting is that his name originated in the NERF franchise, in a line of customized blasters

Those hole don't look to have any function in any modes, but my first thought was that they were supposed to connect to a couple of pegs placed in the inner side of the lower legs to make the leg mode more stable.
Then I noticed that the legs don't have any pegs that would do that.
So has anyone idea the purpouse of those holes?
Since the waist is different, it's not like they were designed for Cutthroat.

Those are for figure stands most likely, there are special ones for jets and other types of flying vehicles and animals.
Jeffrohurt wrote:Ok. What's the official combination for Volcanicus? There's 2 different versions on that cube for the boxset. I plan on getting the add on kit from Dreamwave to fill him out but was just wondering the official line
The combination shown in the official art and used by the Earth Wars game and the Prime Wars cartoon (messy as it is) is:
Right Arm: Swoop
Left Arm: Slag/Slug
Right Leg: Sludge
Left Leg: Snarl

I've found two uses for them so far, but it's hard to tell if either of them is the "intended" use.
One is to plug his sword in for when he's in alt mode - instead of putting the 3mm peg under his beak, put it there instead and he's got a totally impractical blade underneath him!
The other is actually as a spot to plug figure stands in - the usual hexagonal hole is hidden in alt-mode, but things like figma stands, etc. fit perfectly into those holes as well, so you can still display him actually in flight if you have a stand for it.
EDIT: Since I had a moment, here are some quick snaps:

Well I have the SG SS, and Rook, and getting the single release Scattershot is still easy/inexpensive. It's just those last two. Yes there are a few BC 2016 Ratchet's on eBay right now, but the cheapest goes for $250, then there's the issues of getting the sticker sheets (which are actually there right now also),and then painting, which admittedly - I'm not good with paint, which is why I don't get into kitbashing or figure customization . If I could just purchase another CW First Aid and cover it all with the Medix Sticker sheet, I'd be content, but I don't think that would work.
Posted by gothsaurus on May 9th, 2018 @ 10:14am CDT
I really should buy a couple extra to paint and finish out. Maybe some fan would want to buy a finished out custom instead of a solid white one. Hmmm.

I wonder if Hasbro will ever just put out a single release Ratchet. At one time I wouldn't think so, but now that Blast Off is making an appearance, I wouldn't be that surprised.
I'm sure if I plunked down $250 for an Ebay Ratchet, that very night, news would appear Hasbro is releasing him.
Posted by gothsaurus on May 9th, 2018 @ 11:39am CDT
In fact, I have delayed a number customs just because I have a hunch Hasbro may release a repaint or retool. (seekers, Eject, etc.)
I agree, Ratchet is probably on Hasbro's radar to get out to the USA market when they find the right store/event. Knowing they are releasing a rescue vehicle (Inferno) soon... and that they seemingly are working do address the "missing" G2 Defensor with Wreck-Gar as a fill in. (Given, this is fan speculation, but seems likely.) I could see them doing a more G2 deco and putting Ratchet out for USA as a fill in for First Aid.

I think this would be a real shame, since Ratchet is a MUCH more popular and integral character than Toxitron or the others... and considering the very small numbers in the custom class. I would hardly consider that successfully "getting the toy out to the USA market."
I hope they reconsider and find a way to (eventually) get that great sculpt out to more people than the handful in the class.
Posted by Sabrblade on May 9th, 2018 @ 12:19pm CDT
Hasbro likewise gave Fun Pub the toolings for Reflector, Counterpunch, and Nemesis Prime and told Fun Pub to use them as well since Hasbro themselves weren't going to do so, hence the troop builder set for BotCon 2016 became the Reflector 3-pack, while the other two were gonna get put in the final subscription service assortment. But then, e-HOBBY did their UW Grand Scourge release, so Fun Pub had to change their plans from Hasbro's intention of a CW Nemesis Prime into a CW Toxitron instead since Nemesis would have been too redundantly similar to Grand Scourge.
Fortunately, it seems Hasbro saw fit to take the CW Nemesis Prime head's digital mock-up and reapplied it to make the new but similar-looking headsculpt for POTP Nemesis Prime.

I really wish they'd have gotten that Hoist out, too... and the cool set of Checkpoint and Autotroopers. Don't know why, but I always have REALLY loved the character and look of Checkpoint. I've done customs of him, actually.
And yeah, I think a lot of fans don't understand the politics and dance that goes on behind the scenes of trying to secure molds and characters for a convention set. There's so much push and pull, dropped ideas and sets, foibles by the factory...
It makes me really grateful for the successful and beautiful sets and figures we HAVE gotten, and where the club and convention filled in gaps in our collections and in the lore. I do really miss those guys — and Botcon.
Also makes me really regret that our fandom is so splintered (BW, Bayverse, etc.) — and so very contrary and hard to please. I can't imagine it being an easy job.

it's $19.99 for Generations deluxe, though most retailers have them for between $16-17. It's been seemingly going up a "dollar per year" (in my mind at least) T30 deluxes were seemingly $14.99, and that was 5 years ago.

Right, but I think the argument against this being a listing for TM Repugnus instead of a Deluxe remold was that the price of $9.99 wasn't right for TMs, and was appropriate for Legends. Yet, the Deluxe Blast-Off is listed as MSRP $29.99, which seems very high.
I was trying to make this point in a slightly humorous way so as not to seem to be attacking anyone's position on the info at the ACD Dist site. 'Tis very confusing, and I guess we'll know soon enough...

This post from Emerje got lost in the shuffle. But I wanted to point out some potential bad news. I looked at the pricing of Repugnus ($9.99 from the link) and Blast-off ($29.99 from the link). This would seem to suggest that Repugnus is still his Titan Master version and not a deluxe remold. So, then I would have to ask why this is an exclusive to May Mayhem...?
Maybe the ACD Dist site has old pricing info from the Titan Master version? Just food for thought...
The listing also calls Repugnus out as a deluxe (DLX), so he is the deluxe, just wonky pricing
Blast Off's price should be on par with Arcee and Grotusque, since he comes with a bonus Prime Master, a clear redeco of Megatronus. No confirmed Decoy Suit/Pretender Shell tho.

Cindersaur is either a girl or a very girly boy if I get him/her now. I kinda wish the dino mode was more like the old Firecon "Lump monster" style, but nothing a bit of Shapeways can't fix.
...Good grief I'm a Firecon GEEWUNer. Kill me.

You're just saying that because he's Australian ... I'm onto you!

Nah, he's a neat toy (I assume, I never did get Brawn) but I have zero attachment to him. Also in my demented headcanon/collection "backstory", Skullcruncher is the local s**tposting Aussie. Though saying that, more 'Strayans bringing the banter can never be a bad thing.
...Hmmm. I might have to get him after all...
