Paramount Pictures confirmed today that Grey’s Anatomy hottie Patrick Dempsey has been cast in Michael Bay’s third installment of the Transformers franchise. The plot of the third film is being kept under wraps but we have learned that Dempsey will play Megan Fox’s boss in a role that is “significant to the plot.” The movie begins filming this month around the U.S. and in Africa, Moscow and China.

He doesn't exactly strike me as the "gear-head" type so I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around what type of job they could possibly have Mikeala transitioning into from movie 2 to movie 3 that would be even remotely plausible. I see another complete and total continuity trainwreck coming and all for the sake of simply adding a big name star that wants the thrill of being associated with this franchise.
I'd try to describe just exactly what I forsee TF3 turning into, but out of respect for Ryan I'll refrain from using that kind of language on his site.

I mean I had it with trying to develop Sam's and Meg's relationship after the fiasco of ROTF, "Why don't you love me, why why don't you say it, why aren't you saying it, why why why WHY WHY!!!!!"
No, no more. You played the jealousy card once, it sucked, move on.
I'm a fool, but I'm hoping (The act of hoping being that of a fool in this franchise) that Pat's character actually has some depth verses just eye candy and a subject for jealousy concerning Sam.
If he does have some DEPTH,I imagine it would pertain to other agendas other Government factions would have as addresses in ROTF concerning the guy Josh threw out of the plane. He would be working with Nest, but as a doule agent for some other group. That would be a neat set up in terms of a war on two fronts, the lead characters fighting shadow cells of the government while the robots battle at NASA or in space....better then the robots fighting while the human scatter or show their @$$ (Thanks again Johnny T).
In terms of motive, I'll have my money Pat's character had a brother or someone who fell victim during either the Hover Dam/City battle of TF1 or the Egypt Battle of TF2.
Why may actually happen, Pat is a pretender and his character thrown in there just to spark jealousy between Sam and his girlfriend in which we will get Sam this time saying "Why don't you say you love me, why, why are you so eager to work with him, why, why WHY WHY!"
Rubs temples...
Hopefully this is not so.
Hope hope hope
