Full Bios for Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Combaticons

I like the in-universe-explanation-and-is-therefore-canon schtick of Blast Off's bio. Just makes it feel like all is balanced and as it should be in the cosmos...

On an unrelated note: I suddenly want to see Vortex in his Fall of Cybertron colors in all his modes and his combined mode, just to see what it looks like.

The Blast off bio just straight pisses me off. It's like Hasbro giving us a virtual middle finger.

I know I would have whined much less if it wasnt just a straight up repaint. I am finding no silver linings here

My thoughts on Blast Off: I would have been fine with his bio and everything if he just had his actual head. Combiner Wars is so close to exactly what I wanted, but Blast Off is just lazy unfortunately, which is a bummer because he's the weakest link of this group.

On that note, had they just made Blast Off been a new guy named Air Stryker or something like that, I would have been fine with that. Then Cyclonus could have taken four of these new guys to make Galvatronus (Rook, Alpha Bravo, Offroad, and Air Stryke). Hasbro could've followed suit with Slingshot and Wildrider by releasing proper versions of Groove and Blast Off. Considering the popularity of the former, I'm really surprised they didn't do this with the latter.

All slings**t really needs to pass off as blast off is a damn face plate. The hasbro guy who decided not to use the fireflight head was a complete moron. Hopefully somebody will do a proper blast off head until Takara blesses us with a proper space shuttle. And that blast off bio is a disgrace.

Combiner Wars has been really odd with how it almost gets the homages right. PCCs and Energon and the like just did whatever they wanted, but CW is very specifically going for G1, seemingly for our sakes... but then they go and mess up the lineups for whatever nonsensical reason. The very *idea* of Alpha Bravo and Jet-Blast Off have gotten as much, if not more, hate than genuinely awful molds like Airachnid. Then they spin around and give all those bots that were never part of a combiner new heads and parts and even new molds, which just makes things even more perplexing.



On an unrelated note, looks like the artist accidentally moved a layer intended for Vortex's thighs onto his knees.

Awww, thanks I don't wanna come off as predictable, but it was a deeply cutting insult to us, especially with as many repaints as they could/are making out of it

(assuming it isn't misassembled - as it easily could be, but it doesn't mean it will be fixed, so my point remains)

I wonder what would happen if you switched Vortex and Blast Off's heads. Blast Off would look a little more accurate and Vortex would still have a pretty accurate body. Plus it would seem like they're both not straight up repaints.

Just trying to think of the simplest solution.

Boom. I loved 'em. Vortex as an interrogator using his blades to Jack Bauer someone into giving away information is quite fun. I could see Vortex and Swindle doing some good cop/bad cop kinda stuff.

Another nice touch in this wave is that the deluxes' instruction manuals now have both the arm and leg transformation steps in the same manual. I thought that was pretty cool.

I love the bios. Blast-Off finally makes sense, and I actually found myself enjoying his jet mode far more than his shuttle mode in context.

Also, I've found a few ways to pose Brawl to avoid the waist-issue.

If you don't want to wait, get some apoxie sculpt and do it yourself! Or did someone cut off your arms? Actually, here's a better idea; I know someone who can sculpt way better than Hasbro or Takara. He'll make Groove's shitty face into something amazing. I've seen his work. He'll make you a Blast Off. He'll even paint the forehead purple for maximum cartoon-accuracy.

Because it's a representation of a colour way and the Takara Prowl is pretty darn similar to the Hasbro Prowl.

Makes sense to me that is how some consumers would treat them not everyone buys both version of a figure - heck I'm sure the G2 versions will be ignored by plenty of people too.

You didn't really need to have a picture of Quickslinger and Slingshot though to make the point I assume the picture is trying to make.

Which to me seems to be boy 2015/16 sure does have a lot of repaints.

Even more if you include Windcharger/Tailgate variations as well that is another 3 toys. also Swerve & Gears and the fair few number of Seekers of both sizes as well only adds weight to the point.

I can understand why some people are starting to get a little angry now - I think what is tipping me over to that a bit is the idea that there might be a couple of Bruticus options beyond the G2 version for no obvious reason.

If the image had had say both versions of say Fireflight/Firefly - you'd hardly be able to tell them apart in such a small image anyway.

I agree the one thing that bugs me most about Blast Off is that he's called Blast off if he'd been a New guy then that would have been perfectly fine - it shows a lack of communication and thought with Takara over the whole shuttle issue on Hasbro's part I feel.

If they'd been talking to Takara about this then maybe Blast off wouldn't have the trolling bio it has and the name it has and would have been another new guy cosplaying as the removed character as is the established "idea" freeing up some of those left overs once they did or do release the correct toy for other use like with Galvatronus for example.

By all that logic then the G2 version of Firefly should be omitted as well. Yet, there it is.

Otherwise, the five Takara toys that were included stand out as anomalies among all the Hasbro/Fun Pub toys.

That is an obscene amount of repaints.

What's worse is all the limb molds are really similar to each other. If you want something other than a generic stocky robot with a crumbled-up car/aircraft on it's back, you're out of luck.

If I wanted a custom head with a faceplate, I would just buy an extra fireflight and paint the head brown. Im more into mass produced 3rd party upgrades. I believe Renderform is going to tackle it. Also I plan to buy takaras bruticus with a proper shuttle mode and head. One thing I might consider doing though is slightly changing the paint on a fireflight head to make a G2 Blast Off head without a mouth. That should be easy.

That bio for Blast Off is a (deservingly) huge middle finger to everyone who has been complaining lately. I LOVE IT! Maybe Takara will even paint the forehead purple and leave the eyes untainted for maximum cartoon accuracy.

They are going by characters. Takara has some exclusive characters as does hasbro.

Personally I like Blast Off a lot more as a jet than as a space shuttle.

What I don't like is that he's a straight up repaint of Quickslinger.

I'll be getting the Takara version in any case, A: to get original molds where possible, and B: in the vain hope Takara will fix Brawl's waist.

The only thing the bio justifies is hasbros level of cheapness. It doesnt take talent to write these bios. They basically just take tibits from the G1 cartoon and add water until properly diluted.

I'd like to also add a bit of my frustration which I agree with Rated X. D@mn Hb! If you're going the lazy path with Blastoff, maybe you could have change the name to "Jump"off? He's now a Harrier VTOL. And at least change this face? Is that so hard to do?

They retooled Hotspot into Onslaught, heck, same with Brawl and Swindle (Vortex, seems like nobody cares). At least gave the Blastoff mold the Alpha Bravo head.
