Financial Website Forbes recently ran an interesting article analyzing the current state of Paramount Pictures, and how the 2016/2017 fiscal year really relies on the performance of the upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight, the next installment of their tent-pole franchise.

The article details the less than desirable Box office numbers of Paramount-produced films over the last year, such as the most recent Star Trek movie, as well as pictures like Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, all of which (including most of the rest of the Paramount-branded movies last year through now) have hurt the studio financially.

Forbes Contributor Scott Mendelson notes that the prospect of another $1 Billion-dollar smash summer blocksbuster is promising to the studio, and would help make ends meet until additional successful movies hit at the end of the summer into the fall, and while it remains to be seen if the film will be better or worse than the previous chapters, you can see how The Last Knight's Box office success is quite imperative to Paramount's future.

Please head over and read Scott's full article at Forbes.com,
as it gives an interesting context to the upcoming release of TLK.

As much of a fan I am of the movies I don't want them to suffer more due to Paramount going desperate I would rather Hasbro pass the movie license to another company.

If Paramount goes down it goes down I'm only seeing the movies I want to see and Transformers so happens to be a paramount film I watch the movies for the franchise not the movie company.

star trek has never made star wars money. never has. never will. get those massive budgets down. what are they thinking? tmnt 2 should have stuck with a august release date like the first one. if it aint broke dont fix it.

i have noticed for a few years now that the paramount box office has been brutal. soon at this point smaller studios will or already are doing better than paramount.

i expect a big opening weekend but worldwide is where the money will be at. also the following week will be the release of despicable me 3. this movie has a real battle on its hands.

good luck paramount.

That's it. I'm not watching any more trailers or TV spots for this movie. It's going to kill me, but I have to save something for the actual movie.

I want to as well but it's my (self proclaimed) duty to chronicle any new spots.

But I am staying away from early reviews and rumors this time besides a couple of specific questions if they are not answered in trailers.

Reading through that list of movies, all I could think was what did they expect? GisT was the only one I even wanted to marginally see. And the list of upcoming, not good either. It's like they're not even trying. And it's not like TF5 is going to be a great movie, it's just going to be like the other 4: explosions, fast moving cameras, and T&A.

I'd almost appreciate it if paramount closed its doors because it would give a new studio a crack at redesigning everything with decent character development.

And the line where Cade calls Izzy "Little J-Lo" is translated into phrase that basically means "You're still a brat."

You can read Japanese? That's a cool and useful skill to have!.
A little. I took two semester courses of it. What I didn't recognize I used Google Translate to help, while recognizing any issues GT had in their translation.

Though, I can pretty much read Katakana, so the "Optimus why?" line was easy since his name was written in Katakana and I already knew what the Hiragana-written "dōshite" meant.

This is what happens when you don't listen to the people that matters when it comes to movies... especially remade ones and that's the fans.
Especially a brand like transformers. The closer they would have stayed to G1, the more successful it could have been. Pretty girls, fast cars and explosions go so far.

The movies aren't made for the fans, they're made to make money.

They did that successfully.

Mostly yeah. Difference with a franchise is they try to sneak in nods to fans but they're not the core target base.

Dunno why people are still expecting a fan-centric movie.

Well yes everything that you can buy only exists to fill the pockets of other people who in the end use thier money for leisures like every other person, some of them just so happen to be Transformers fans.

It's a circle which goes on and on in a cycle that is ultimately pointless.

Because people always want things and because every person is the "main character" in thier own life they will feel that whatever they think is important based on what they want and "need" should happen and any strong or even small changes from thier opinion is wrong and not the way it should be.

But I'm a Transformers fan since the 80s and the movies and their toys have become my favourite incarnation so does that not make me a fan this movie is made for? Sure as heck is the only upcoming movie I'm gonna put up with the difficulty of travelling to a cinema for. :P

Hm, would it seem weird for a 37 year old guy to take his voyager Prime and Megatron figures to the screening and stand them up on the lil table we get on the very comfortable reclining seats at that cinema? :D

Thanks to Seibertronian Deadput and courtesy of YouTube user RandomBlackGamer, we have another trailer to show you! This time, it's a trailer exclusive to Japan, with some longer shots of both WW2 era 'Bee as well as Megatron transforming. There's much more than just that (more than meets the eye, perhaps?) but we'll leave it up to you to watch and dissect. Enjoy!

You are right about it being Mercedes Benz. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it is the Mercedes Benz W31 or the 770 (as they also have 6 wheels like the vehicle Bumblebee is). However, the two vehicles were also used by high-ranking German officials.

Wonder what tomorrows trailer is going to be?

The rumors I heard said he sounded like Spongebob but that doesn't seem like it here. (Maybe they changed it?)

This guy probably doesn't take part of the fights since it sounds like he's a pacifist or something so he probably just helps Cade with hiding Transformers in his Junkyard by bringing parts Maybe he is Wreck-Gar.

The more I see in this trailers and TV spots of Sir Edmund Burton talking about Cade's lifelong destiny and such, the more I get the feeling that it would have made more narrative sense, across all five films, for Cade's role to have been kept by Sam instead, since the first three films were arguably about Sam's journey in life and then along comes Cade four movies in to take Sam's lead spotlight role, only for Cade to now suddenly have this important destiny tied to the Transformers, which also happens to be affiliated with the Witwiccan clan (Sam's ancestry).

Granted, I like Cade as a character better than Sam, but between the two of them, things are looking more and more like they would have made more sense for Sam to have been the special chosen one in this case.

Doubt it. Cade had Tessa while he was still in high school. Sam was with Mikaela in his high school years and she didn't look anything like Cade's wife, nor was Sam a teen father since he had no children in ROTF, by which point he had entered college.
