It should be pointed out that so far, there is nothing else to go on other then this picture and what information has been shared with leakers so far. The following picture it's self comes from twitter user, @hotconvoy, who doesn't offer a source for the picture.
As you can see, this is just the main body of Rodimus Prime, and though the picture isn't detailed, you can see some details on the legs that matches the style we've seen so far inn the WfC Trilogy. It's too early to say if be shares anything other then looks with the SS86 Voyager Class Hot Rod. We also see two accessories, a sword and a gun.
The picture also gives a Japanese ID number for him as KD-12 as well as a release date (in Japan), as August 2021, as well as his price in Yen. A date is also given of 10th of March, which, if this is to be believed, could be when we get our good and detailed look at the figure and everything he comes with.
Till we have a source for this, or get official confirmation, treat this as rumour.
If this is the real deal, what are your thoughts? Don't think this will be three in a row for Commander Class releases?

Personally I've never been a fan of the original Rattrap figure, I don't even own one because I didn't like it as a kid teen despite liking the character a lot. I've always felt it was the absolute worst of the Basic figures and a terrible rat likeness, especially that row of long fangs. Kingdom Rattrap isn't that much smaller than the original and has a far better looking rat mode and scales better with the smaller scale of Kingdom figures.
(From Deluxe Baldwin on YouTube)
Sure not going to try to change your opinion, but the size differences are so minor and the aesthetics are so different I don't think the original would look any better with Kingdom.

What's the figure directly beside the Kingdom one? I think that's probably the best-looking Rattrap of the bunch.

I'll only grab this if shows up on sale or one clearance somewhere.

I actually just bought a used one off Transformerland.com last year and he seemed fine, better than the original Transmetals Rhinox I bought at the same time that definitely felt like he could break at any point in the transformation and will probably never see rhino mode again.

Third party, quick search and I guess it has the generic name of "Mice Warriors" with an "s". Apparently he's more egg than mouse having no molded fur textures on his body.

Yeah, that was my assumption as well.
They pulled the original Terrorsaur mold out of mothballs for use in AoE, so we know at least one of the first-wave basic-class BW molds was available for use in a 2014 toyline. The BW 10th anniversary toyline was 2006. I'm skeptical about the idea that Rattrap's mold was unusable by then when Terrosaur's, which got reused far more, was still good 8 years later.

Yeah, the Terrorsaur mold showing up in AOE came as a shock to everyone, as it too was believed to have been lost like the Rattrap, Insecticon, and Armordillo molds.Zeedust wrote:Jelze Bunnycat wrote:And I thought Transmetal Rattrap being used for BW 10th instead of the original Basic was nothing more than logistics, really. It was a Walmart exclusive to be exact, packaged with a RotF Legion Bumblebee. And well, dinos sell, so any available was used. Look at Grimlock, he got Prime Legion Rippersnapper (multiple times!), FoC Grimlock and Energon Cruellock(!) used.
Actually, the BW springloaded Basics may not be lost, but undesireable to be used due some of the mechanisms, the (supposed) force necessary to trigger them and how little fingers can get stuck inside them. I have Iguanus, Armordillo and BW Neo Hydra within reach and I can see kids getting their fingers hurt. Compare them to the current One-Step Changers, you'll see what I mean

Okay, I'm just gonna come out and say it. Did someone on the inside actually say those molds were lost?
Also, I still think reissues of Inferno and Tarantulas might be a good idea since they don't have toys in Kingdom.

I asked the site owner who has spoken to the different Hasbro teams over the years and as far as he knows those initial beast wars molds were never confirmed to be lost.

I would have been all over reissues of the Transmetals if it gave us a GPS-free version of Megatron. Or even reissues of these molds in their Telemocha Series decos (as there are still a few I'm missing). But I don't need show-inaccurate versions of the Season 1 figures.

So the wiki got it wrong when it states that it's an AOE release? Ok.
As for the reissues at hand, kinda tempted for the packaging, BW had my favourite packaging design. And gotta love mistransforming in advertising photos to make toys look more articulated XD

Ok, a subline. How was I supposed to know? Wiki said AOE, which I remember as a main line, and then I get corrected with "not a main line".
There's no need to get angry about a reissue from 6 (?) years ago.

By contrast, the Transmetals would have offered something ufficiently different, giving people good reason to buy from both lines, while also still capitalizing on people's nostalgia. As is, these are just more expensive alternatives to the Kingdom figures.

I get what you're saying, and I do agree with you to an extent. I'm just saying that the nostalgia of these being the exact figures I had in my hands as an 11 year old kid will drive me to buy them in addition to having already purchased the admittedly superior Kingdom toys. And I'm not even a hardcore collector or anything.

cheetor's blue looks a bit darker then I remember (I sold all my old bw figs years ago when times were tough, so I don't have them to compare, will check the gallery here later)
megatron though..
the real question isn't megatron's missing paint, which is kinda not cool imho, it's whether or not they put back in his ratchets. the 10th anniversary version removed his ratchet components giving him loose waists and hips. on the plus side, minor differences to help tell the difference between these and the original is good for re-sellers I suppose

The Soundwave reissue overlapped, as did Starscream and Optimus Prime. It's the same thing here. People are rediscovering the characters with the new toys and can also either experience the original toys for the first time to see how far things have gone or to reown them.
They are basically turning Walmart shelves into the Chronicle series (pics below) where you can buy whatever you want individually.

It doesn't really matter. Beast Wars is now 25 years old. Reissues were a no brainer. And as pointed out there are plenty of G1 reissues that get released alongside modern incarnations.
These appeal to people like me who grew up with Beast Wars.
The modernised ones grab your attention, and then the nostalgia attack of these will hit you in the face and pull you in.

What we were discussing was the validity of whether or not the Transmetals would have been a better option for the BW reissues. I argue they would since they wouldn't have been as redundant as the Season 1 toys when compared to the offerings of the Kingdom line, and would have even finally given us a GPS-free Transmetal Megatron, something that people who were never able to get the 1999 GPS-free Takara version have been wanting for years.

The TM would be nice, but to be honest, I don't think they will happen, this year at least.
It makes more sense like this. 25 anniversary of the original line, so we get updates and reissues.
It would have been stranger if they reissued the TMs instead of these.
And no they're not redundend, if anything it's awesome that Hasbro treats BW similar this time round as it does G1.
This year we can get a Classics Optimus Primal, a reisdyof the original and I believe the MP was also reissued.
Mever got an original Primal, so I'm stocked to get another chance.
I wouldn't say no to either TM, Fuzor or TM2.

I'll have to respectfully disagree.
Kingdom Cheetor is quite disappointment. The Original is still better in many ways.
Kingdom Megs is on his way, so can't yet comment on him.
The original Primal has a ton of features not present in the Kingdom version. Not saying the Kingdom version is bad, but the OG version still gives it a run for its money in features and accessories and sheer size.

I'm not sure about that, but whatever degree of difference or similarity there is between the 1984 Optimus Prime, and 2020 ER Optimus Prime I'd say is more-or-less comparable to 1996 BW Megatron and 2021 Kingdom BW Megatron.
Initially I thought "there isn't much difference", but then I got told how much better quality the plastics were from the 90's. I'm not saying it's true or not, I'm just sayin whatever side of the argument I land on, I get told by someone I'm wrong. Can Both be wrong? Can two wrongs make a right .

The chosen '96 figures only really hold up with nostalgia goggles on. The ones from that initial line that still genuinely impress were unfortunately not show characters.
Just reusing the same Primal visual design they have been churning out again since PoTP, is both lazy and far too safe. Since they are already using the Season One designs again in Kingdom. There is nothing special about them to mark the anniversary by showing the same things. Two and a half decades removed.
Whereas these guys getting reissues would be infinitely more appealing to the collectors they are trying to reach.

In YOUR opinion. As you've seen in this thread, there are people who are just fine with what's actually getting released, and not some Allnewsuperrobot approved line up.
It's just some reissues. Maybe if these sell well (and I have a feeling they will if the Headmasters mean anything) then the versions you speak of might get some more time in the light.

While I agree Transmetal Re-ssiues would have been great.
Its the 25th anniversary of the Beastwars launch. Re-issuing figures from 2 years into the Beatwars line, seems unlikely.
Maybe in 2023 for the Transmetal 25th anniversary.

I've never had the original Cheetor and is like kinda a grail on my collection. I got the MP and even the Cyberverse one just to have one...
And also I could get another MEgs and another Rattrap because mine are a bit beaten up...

That's the thing though. These reissues seem completely at odds with Kingdom. If the point of the third chapter of WFC using the Season One designs was a celebration of the anniversary, then why employ these here too?
Why not do what they are doing with WFC, with this anniversary year IE showing off characters and waves from the Beast Era in general. WFC for Season One, Reissues for Season Two etc
They bypass a lot of anniversaries when they choose to IE Car Robots last year, didn't even get a redeco. To me, this selection of releases is a bit too similar to those of the last anniversary. Which indicates they don't care that much.
