NEED. A. GOOD. SHOCKWAVE. wouldn't think a character that is so freaking simple to have such a hard time making its way to a good figure iteration. I bet they will remake shockwave a few times too... maybe i'll just wait it all out. Could have ATLEAST made the eye yellow (or the gun on the right side, unless its just flipped pix)... if you showed this figure to a kid in 1995, he'd probably think it was from some other anime show or something.

Well, I like his robot mode, I was expecting it to be a bit more slender, but i'll let that slide, what I dont like is his eye, I dont have a problem with it being red, but it seriously needs to be smaller!

If you paint it grey and change the head it could be Megatron. I hope that his character makes up for it and keeps his cool and cold persona that we loved from G1.
Wonder if they will release a more purple, G1 like version?
Actually, the more I look at it the more I like it.

In Has/Tak's defense, they have done an admirable job making good, working toys from utter garbage character models. While I doubt I'll purchase any DotM toys, I'm sure others will. Keep up the good work, Hasbro!

Now if we can just see some pics of Sentinal Prime

We call them monkey arms. I hate the things as well. At least I'll be able to fix the wrists with a ball joint.

You mean the open hand... Another part I'd rather be a fist, so it can hold some guns.

Why couldn't he be a big gun of some sort or at least a cannon. I'm so sick of these tanks.

I know this isn't so much Hasbro's doing as it is Bays, but still one would think that Bay would have learned his lesson by now. I'll wait for another 18 months for Hasbro to give us a proper Shockwave in the Generations line.
What lesson does he have to learn? That people still expect Classic/G1 designs in the movie-verse? If anything we should have learned by now that that isn't going to happen. They're unrealistic expectations. The movie aesthetic has always been entirely separate from anything remotely G1. A/E/C all benefit from a similar style, allowing them to more easily adapt an old design into an updated one. Blaming Bay for creating a design that fits his own aesthetic is, well, laughable. Of course Shockwave from the Bayverse isn't going to be an updated G1 design that still fits G1's own aesthetic. It retains his color scheme, his general head design, and homages his gun hand. No, he doesn't have a yellow eye. No, his hand isn't a gun. No, he doesn't turn into a gun. G1 Shockwave does. THIS isn't G1 Shockwave.
You'd think by now, with this being the third movie, people would've gotten the hint that anything that fits G1's design isn't going to be found in the Bayverse...
Back on topic: The alt-mode isn't anything spectacular, but I think it's the better of the three villainous Cybertronian alt-modes we've seen, save for maybe ROTF Voyager Megatron. Hopefully official images/different angles will give a better idea for how everything looks overall in vehicle mode.
I like the bot mode a lot. Better than anything I've seen from Megatron (save for, again, his ROTF Voyager). He looks like he has the size and fire power to go head to head with Prime (or Megatron). I hope height wise he lines up to be at least as tall a Prime or Megatron, if not slightly talller. Though given his considerable bulk I somehow doubt it. Overall, this is the best of the DOTM toys I've seen. Not that he's figure of the year material, but hopefully more images and in hand impressions do nothing but improve my feelings on him.

First Megatron, and now Shockwave. Once again, another potentially awesome DOTM figure that should have been a Leader Class is likely ruined by being too small. I had been looking forward to expanding my ranks of Leader Class Decepticons, especially to having a good Megatron big enough to face Leader Prime. The figure itself looks great in robot mode and the tank mode's not bad (although I was hoping that the gunship thing Sam and Carly had been seen riding would be Shockwave), but he's going to look ridiculous fighting Leader Prime. I guess if I'm going to be getting Megatron and/or Shockwave and want them to look at all reasonable fighting Optimus, I'll have to get Battle Blades Prime. Then, however, I would not have an in-scale Starscream (unless I got the Voyager Starscream, which would be horribly out of scale with the rest of my Movie collection, and which I don't even like much in the first place). I suppose I may get Shockwave at this scale, but he'll just seem way to small.
Don't get me wrong. I do think this toy looks good for what it is.
We can only hope that there will be Leader figures of Megatron and Shockwave, and that we just don't know about them yet.

This disappoints.
Not horrible, not awesome. Might get it if it's a voyager, but not if it's a leader. But then, I think the last leader-class TF I bought was Brawl, so I guess that's not saying much.

WHOA!! Dude, I was making a half-hearted comment AT BEST. I KNOW this isn't G1, I never expected it to be a full on G1 Shockwave. He's about as G1 as as any incarnation of Movie Megatron is but holy crap I don't need a full paragraph dressing down over the whole situation and neither does anyone else on the site. Next time, get some input from me about the spirit in which my comment was intended or ask me for a little clarification but don't ever treat me like I'm a freaking idiot or a child! I'm sorry I worded my previous comment in such a way that the intent was misconstrued. My thoughts on the whole situation with Bays creations aren't simply a "black & white" subject. I take for granted the fact that there might possibly be folks on here capable of understanding such a thing but obviously I was wrong and this point has been wondrously illustrated.
I think i get your point T. Im pretty sure no one expected this to look G1...we all knew it would look bayverse with bay aesthetics. And the point is a lot of people still just dont like the bay-verse look. Which is totally understandable. Im like 50/50 on it. Bludgeon and Terradive were both movie style and so was Deluxe Bludgeon. But Bay didnt have a hand in them and they came out looking pretty good being part of the bay-verse. The only figure I think Bay did exceptionally well is Blackout. I know some people love the bay-look. but yeah no one needed a whole paragraph explaining that a movie toy would clearly be based on Bay...so thanks for the ranting Joker

Yea, even with the needless gimmick, its a great figure, maybe not the most poseable, but one of the coolest from the bayverse that was actually in the movie.

Granted, a whole paragraph was a bit much. But complaining about his design with respect to G1 Shockwave, at this point in the film franchise, is a moot point. The movie-verse should be the last place you expect anything close to an accurate redesign of anything G1. So clearly some people on the site still need this pointed out...

Point taken. Apologies for taking what you intended to say the way I interpreted it.

With all do respect, you shouldn't expect anyone to take what you say for anything more than what's written. Like I said previously, to complain that Bay hadn't learned his lesson with regards to a homage to G1 Shockwave, at this point, is too little, too late. Your feelings on his designs overall aside (I don't even like half his designs), all I took issue with was what I quoted.
There really isn't anything more to understand about that. Though I may be overestimating people here...

The gun is a tad excessive (in bot mode, at least), though this is the first DotM figure that really grabs my attention. The Cybertronian mode actually looks like a proper mode, and not just a folded up robot.

its not...no matter how awesome one figure may be, it cant possibly make up for the rest. Im also blatantly shocked there isnt some sort of obvious ugly mechtech weapon yet

It's a somewhat decent iteration of Shockwave but it doesn't really suit the character to me. Too bulky. It's better than i had expected though, to be honest.
