Funny. I just watched The Key to Vector Sigma last night, and I could swear there were five jets, including some guy named Slingshot who was kind of a jerk to Ironhide, and in fact the most prominent member of the team in their introductory episode aside from Silverbolt. And I didn't see any Alpha Bravo anywhere...
So, er, define "always," please. Because the way I understood the word, it was not a subjective word.
Lies. Alpha Bravo has ALWAYS BEEN AN AERIALBOT.
I know it's a Photoshop. I just find some of the venom directed at Alpha Bravo a little ridiculous, and the idea that he has retroactively been made a G1 Aerialbot to destroy the childhood of his naysayers strikes me as funny.

While I have no dog in this fight, I'm not sure why Hasbro wouldn't release the actual Slingshot and Wildrider from Unite? If I were getting the Aerialbots I'd be preordering the Takara version...

How are they not? These two use the same molds and essentially the same colors as the Unite Warriors versions (or what is estimated to be such, in Wildrider's case).sol magnus wrote:While I have no dog in this fight, I'm not sure why Hasbro wouldn't release the actual Slingshot and Wildrider from Unite?

Um... They are. Takara's versions are repaints. For Slingshot, at least, he also has a new head, and I think that will likely be true here, too. (You can't see the head in vehicle mode, after all.) Pretty sure Wildrider will, too, but unless I missed something somewhere we haven't seen his head, yet.
Here's Takara's Slingshot in robot mode, so you can see his head:
The main difference will probably be Hasbro's will have black hand/foot pieces.

Exactly: UW Sling and Wildrider are simply Firefly and Dead End respectively, with new heads. Yes, amazingly, TakaraTomy took the cheap route for once.

Guess that's my bad for not paying attention to anything but Masterpiece (and Leader Ultra Magnus).

Lately when it comes to a line they didn't created (unlike Q or Masterpiece), they always go cheap and just repaint Hasbro's stuff. Most likely the Slingshot and Wildrider heads were already part of the molds and not something Takara Tomy sculpted separately. Lately Takara Tomy doesn't seem interested in remolding figures themselves, let alone make new molds for lines started by Hasbro, except on rare occasions like the AOE Leader Optimus Prime upgrade.

Wild rider a lambo...what madness.
You could just simply repaint Breakdown into Oilpan in fact thats what I'm going to do and I'm going to have a Stunticon army of like 20 of them or something.
I'll repaint all the Stunticons multiple times and make as many homages as I can.

Still doesn't make Alpha Bravo a member of The Aerialbots. He might be an aerialbot, but not a member of the group.

Alpha Bravo can just be a chair for Barrel Roll
Barrel Roll can be the back and Alpha Bravo can become Sperion's "third leg"

I've actually taken that into consideration: two vehicle shells and three heads per mold. Look at Offroad and now Dead End.
*EDIT* Don't be surprised if Quickslinger and Brake-Neck are turned into new characters, possibly direct copies of their predecessors.

You?
Are you a God of Transformers?
What makes you think you can decide who is part of what?
How about you say that to Barrel Roll's face? http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Barrel_Roll

That does look to be the case. The main body of Offroad/First Aid and Dead End/Streetwise are the same, but there is next to nothing shared in the shells. In the case of Air Raid/Skydive, the chest is different.

Why would they?
Not everything in Combiner Wars is based on IDW in case of point Galvatronus is in the toyline but is confirmed to not be in the comics.
Offroad's packaging says that Wildrider "fell" in battle yet in IDW Wildrider just quit the team after they lost to Bumblebee yet is still alive.
Posted by MrBlack on March 24th, 2015 @ 4:05pm CDT
Now to decide whether to keep him as a separate figure or as part of Superion. I like Alpha Bravo more as an individual figure, but I do have a soft spot for Slingshot as a character...

With Hasbro fiction you never know... Just preparing mentally for that, that's all.

If I had the Energon Optimus Prime's trailer and drones... and, of course, those 3D printed adapters... this would be a cool option of what to do with Combiner Wars Optimus Prime!

I was just looking at that, myself... Definitely some differences. The faction symbol is in a different location. There is some silver on Hasbro's chest that on Takara is red. And the paint on the kneecaps looks a different color on each. Also, the black on Hasbro's hands looks like it comes up a bit further on the figure's wrists.
You can't see the Hasbro version's lower legs. I wonder if the bit of red there on Takara's is present on Hasbro's?
As far as alt mode, the images we have of each are much lower resolution, but the wings do look slightly different. Takara's has faction logos outside of the stripes:
The Hasbro version looks like it has them on the stripes:

That might be true but I think the Hasbro deco looks better especially the face not a fan of Orange visor on a orange face of the same shade.

I was looking at the colors and Wildrider and Offroad have alot of differences which is nice too even the shade of grey looks darker on Wildrider but that could just be the lighting.
Posted by Noideaforaname on March 24th, 2015 @ 5:08pm CDT
And they didn't do anything screwy like give them green combiner hands.
... although, I now kinda wish Offroad and Alpha Bravo were a bit more distinct, instead of placeholder-these-guys colored. Particularly Offroad since it's easier to add him to the already-varied Stunticons.
Hear that Hasbro? MOAR REPAINTS!

Horrifying / awesome... To-may-to / to-mah-to.
I will admit I agree on Energon Optimus being a bad figure... Although I wouldn't be opposed to owning one someday if I had a chance to grab one cheap, it is the one major iteration of Optimus I have never owned a toy of. (I didn't pick up any AOE Optimus Primes, but it is the same character as the first three Bay films, so that counts as one "iteration.")
But I do like the Combiner Wars Prime better than I thought I would! (He'll be even better once I get Reprolabels to cover up the unpainted grey on his alt mode.) And he looks good with those Energon limbs on!
I'm surprised the person who took those photos didn't leave Optimus's chest open. In other cases, I'd think it looks better closed. But since the open chest looks so much like it was paying homage to Energon Optimus anyway, you'd think it would be a perfect time to showcase it.

I don't have a "glitch." I don't like the figure. The vehicle mode is repulsive and the robot mode looks like it belongs in the Rescue Bots line. The mold is better represented by the Motormaster variant, but not by much. And when combined? Forget about it. That's why I'm easily passing on CW Menasor. Too bad, I actually like the other 4 Stunticons, even if Menasor and Motormaster are both underwhelming to me. But if you like them, that's fine. It's your opinion. Just because mine is different, doesn't make it "wrong."I don't see what your glitch is with CW Prime I have him and he makes a good figure.
