Well this was a surprise to be sure (but a welcome one). We just got our first look at the upcoming Override toy in alt mode. Rumours said it would be a retool of SS86 Hot Rod, since that was the only voyager class car mold, but if it is, it is not obvious. Do you see how it could be a retool? At first glance, it looks far more like a brand new mold, being very faithful to the original, which you can also see below.
The image comes from Prime vs Prime who is working on a review at the moment. We'll see if the line is revealed officially soon but whether it is or not, we are getting more images of Override and others in this exclusive Walmart line soon. Also, since fans were confused here are some facts regarding Walmart exclusives this year.
There are 3 exclusive Walmart lines this year:
- The Legacy Beast Wars redecos: They are in Legacy packaging with a plastic window but are exclusive to Walmart in the US and Canada and not part of a particular Legacy wave.
- The Beast Wars reissues: this exclusive line continues this year, we already got Cybershark but more will be in stores soon.
- This Velocitron line: We have not seen the packaging yet but apparently this is supposed to be what is replacing the Netflix exclusives for Walmart and it is said that the toys will be packaged in alt mode.

Interesting.... definitely not Hot Rod. Looks like an entirely new mold.
However this then poses another question. If she's a new mold, then who is going to be the secondary use? Call me crazy, but I see Pointblank potential there.
Want to see more of it. But I may just get it. It would look interesting next to the original.

I'd hope they do Shattered Glass Elita-1 since that was based on Override GTS.

THAT is a very good idea. I can easily see that with minimal retooling. Nice to see the Unicron trilogy FINALLY getting some frickin love. Some of the best Transformers molds ever came from that Cybertron line.

I think this is a marked improvement on the original figure, which is not something that can be said for most of the updates we’ve gotten.
Definitely picking her up.
If a third party wants to upscale her a bit so the robot mode is closer to a regular voyager figure I would not be opposed.

I want Dark Nitro Convoy so much. Override GTS as well.
Shame the rear wheels lock into place to the back in robot mode. It could've been worked into a butterfly joint of sorts. I'll mess around with it to see if that's the case when I get one. Doesn't look like it would require more than a little snip of some plastic and maybe some Kiki to tighten up a joint or two won't fix. If it's even worth it that is and doesn't actually hinder the robot mode in any way by having two less locking points for the torso.
I think this is one of those times where PvP is missing something. I don't know what but it just feels as though something is missing. Effect parts? A gun to put on top of the vehicle mode. It just seems a little odd to have that offset 5mm port on the engine/weapon thing and not have something designed to go there. If it's meant for when it's plugged into the back of robot mode then why isn't in centralized like the port that's now being covered up? There's plenty of room to put it in the center of the piece without disturbing anything else.
I just wonder what's going to happen with the rumored Blurr for this line now. Could it be a new mold as well and not a retool of the also rumored Legacy Pointblank or SS Blurr as originally thought?
But now I'm worried about Cosmos not being a Warpath retool and instead being an Origin Bumblebee retool. As soon as I read that it was maybe a retool of Warpath, I slapped myself in the forehead for not having thought of that myself. It just seems so obvious now. I guess when the last few Warpath figures looked and/or transformed so completely different to the G1 figure, you lose sight of something so simple as G1 Warpath and G1 Cosmos having the same transformation and parts layout for the most part of where it matters.

If I remember correctly (and at my age, that doesn't happen often sooo....) the whole gimmick for this line is Energon weapons. My guess is that those ports are for attachments of the line's gimmick weapons, kind of like the Fossilizers.

I hope it's not for pointblank! A harsh retool of counter punch would be better.

Hope isn't lost after all! Now that's a UT update! This honestly looks like a fantastic update. I didn't think I'd be glad she's a voyager, but now that I see the figure, I am. It looks like a lot of that extra budget went into making her more solid and hefty so she could fit in better with the original Cybertron toys. My only nitpick is I still don't think she looks 100% worth voyager price; I think for the price they could have included a cyber key, even as just an accessory.
Since this seems to be a completely new mold, I wonder what this means for Cosmos and Blurr.
And for anyone curious, here's a size comparison between the original Override and SS86 Hot Rod. Based on the comparisons in the review, it seems like this new version will scale well with the old one.

It's a shame it still doesn't have the Cyber Planet Key, but unlike Optimus Prime/Galaxy Convoy and Metroplex/Megalo Convoy, it keeps the gimmick it activated and there have been other major/visual interpretations of this character outside Cybertron (namely Animated, Aligned and both versions of IDW), so it's not as much of a gamechanger for me.

The fact that so far we have 4 Cybertron updates, and 3 of them (Galaxy Prime, Metroplex, and Override) are pretty dang good is a success to me. Hot shot might be the only dud, but he's not bad, just under-bulked and under-weaponed up.
But I am glad Override and Metroplex look so dang good

Would have been good, but with this toy, the voyager price point is almost trivial. It has all the making of a toy with a crazy aftermarket price in the not too distant future with it being an exclusive new mold of a unique show character that never gets attention, and is part of a set of Primes. Would be nice if those who don't like the price left it alone rather than bought it knowing of the aftermarket potential.

One of those TRANSformers that change gender depending whenever he/she speak Japanese or English.
I find this ridiculous but at the same time, it gives me the idea of making a custom with the concept of Baron Ashura from Mazinger Z.
Half-fembot, half-manbot. And I'll even go further by making the altmode a half-corvette and half-muscle-car. Finding the right bots to frankenstein together will be difficult.

One and the same. The comments are taken directly from the forum, but new member posts only show up for everyone in the comments, they're invisible when viewed from the forum except to staff members which is why Will could see it and others couldn't. Same goes for posts from people you choose to ignore.

They do it because it's a convenient way to show a figure's range of motion and instantly recognizable making it easy to tell if its being done right.
