Oh, if only that were true, Bulkhead. Then we could have, ya know, good writing, good animation, good toys, etc. Instead another round of the same old tired Autobots and Decepticons run around.

Sorry, but Beast wars wasn't the greatest in terms of writing. As far as animation goes, cell vs CGI is a matter of opinion. Some of the CGI in Beast wars was amazing but looks childish now compared to Prime. As for toys, well... can't argue with you there. The characters in the cartoon look amazing, the Prime toys for the most part have been... well they are lack luster to say the least

I am not a fan of late series repaints (looking at you RiD & Unicron trilogy)

One of two things could happen. We can get Smokescreen's new deco in the Transformers GO! line, or he and Bee will be convention exclusives. Either way, I'll need a new shelf for the Beast Hunters upgrades.

I only agree with "good writing," which Prime progressively seems to lack.
Prime's animation is more advanced and smoother than Beast Wars'. Prime also uses texture in the animation models (battle scars and scratches, weathering, etc.), or more of it, rather than bland meshes with some metallic "shine."
Because Beast Wars had absolutely no crappy toys and were all Masterpiece-grade gems while Prime has a bunch of shellforming bricks. Both toylines had their share of great and terrible toys. What's wrong with Prime's earlier toys?

Good ole Hasbro! Getting us with one colour only to change the character after a few appearances (not a repainted new character) and hitting us with a G1-esque/Alternators colour scheme!
Why didnt we get this first time Hasbro?
With Transformers Prime concluding after the rather terrible looking Beast Hunters run, how long will it take before fans/collectors are boxing up the short lived Prime figures, making room for more Generations/30th Anniversary figures?

Plus, if they did introduce Prowl into the show (which I doubt, but...), he wouldn't look exactly like Smokescreen with only a few colour differences - this will make them more dissimilar which is good.
I can see it now:
Miko: "Hey Smokescreen!"
Prowl: "Uhh, actually Miko, I'm Prowl. Smokescreen is blue now, remember?"
Miko: "Oh. Yeah sorry about that, it's just that you..."
Prowl: "I know, I know. I 'look just like he used to.'"
Miko: "Yeah, but a lot. A lot. Was their a sale on white paint?"
Prowl: "Sigh."

I'd count on Smokescreen and Bumblebee's new color schemes being convention exclusives, or at least the former released by Takara in the GO! line.
Plus, if they did introduce Prowl into the show (which I doubt, but...), he wouldn't look exactly like Smokescreen with only a few colour differences - this will make them more dissimilar which is good.
He wouldn't look exactly like Smokescreen with a few color differences anyway. Prowl has an entirely different torso and head with shoulder rockets.
kirbenvost wrote:I guess that makes the inevitable Prowl reprolabel job on the white one easier.
Prowl's getting his own Deluxe toy in the Beast Hunters line. Smokescreen needs his own set instead of a set to upgrade him into another (so far) non-show character.

Oh, really? In that case I hope it's non-spiky or optional. I'm only buying the BH toys that aren't covered in spikes. So that's only Smokescreen and Shockwave so far.

I know, we've discussed this before I think. I'm just kidding around, mostly due to the likelihood that Prowl's toy will just be a repaint/slight retool (lightbar) as we have already discussed. Even though that picture exists and is awesome, I won't hold my breath for Prowl to look like that, especially if they are already into re-cycling (in the case of Prime's model as Magnus) and had to build a bunch of new CGI models for the Predacons we are still waiting to see.
To bring this back on topic: If nothing else, having Smokescreen take on a drastic colour change does allow for them to bring in Prowl without having THREE white Autobots. Sure, they now have three blue ones, but at least they are different shades of blue! It also allows them to bring in Prowl as nothing more than a Smokescreen "repaint" for the show if they want, since having a picture as a concept doesn't mean they have completely developed the CGI model and all it's movement. Much easier to recolour and copy Smokescreen's model! If I'm wrong, I won't be disappointed, nor will I be if I am right.
Either way, I am loving Smoke's new colours!

Oh, okay. Never had seen that article, don't know how on Earth I missed it.
Prowl sounds promising. If he looks good, I'll think about getting him to replace my Universe/Classics Prowl, since on my unit his right (or was it his left?) door/wing paint was rather poorly applied.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Prowl is a use of Smokescreen's model (or the other way around) just like Magnus is to Optimus' old model.

It is not the best tf show, but it's not as bad as Master-force or RID, and Energon

No arguments here. Easily the worst TF cartoon series ever made, even regardless of its dub.Superwheeljack wrote:and Energon

Somewhere between top five and top three. Let's face it, without Beast Wars, Transformers would probably either be nonexistent or still exclusive to Japan.

Personally, I kinda preferred Victory over Masterforce (I've got my hate-shield ready to deflect!), but Masterforce was pretty cool.

Agreed. Robots in Disguise was the very first Transformers cartoon I had ever watched when it still aired back in the day. In fact, my very first Transformers (but not the one that got me into collecting) was the Optimus Prime and Galvatron (got them at the same time) from this line, and hence hold a very special place among my shelves.

Yeah, Energon as a cartoon was pretty bad, but the toys were good, if you ask me. Really loved the Maximus teams (I was one goddamn component away from completing my Superion Maximus before the line ended ).
But the one thing about Energon that haunts me to this day... is the infamous "Gay for Galvatron" scene.
Posted by Sabrblade on May 14th, 2013 @ 8:26pm CDT
I'd say even between Top 1 and top 5. It still ranks number 1 in my eyes, but Animated was very close to overthrowing it (so close, yet it just didn't).Mindmaster wrote:Sabrblade wrote:It's definitely up there, at least.Superwheeljack wrote:It is not the best tf show,

For me, Masterforce was more enjoyable due to it having strong likeable characters, an enjoyably cool story, and load of fun awesomesauce sprinkled on top.Mindmaster wrote:Masterforce was AWESOME!!!

With Victory, however, most the characters felt kinda stiff, too formal, and a bit flat (Star Saber himself was sadly just a stereotypical Mr. Perfect heroic leader type, but the Dinoforce was comedy gold), the story felt boring for the first half with it going virtually nowhere until the point when the awesome that is Liokaiser was finally formed (seriously, best G1 combiner character EVER! ), and the fun parts were mostly repetitive stock footage of Star Saber's "Battle Up!" sequence played to the theme song over and over again (Masterforce had several insert songs it made use of) and him beating down on the same Decepticons as though their fights were on a time clock.
But it did have some good points of its own as well. Like I said, the Dinoforce was hilarious, Liokaiser was epic, Victory Leo was a beast, the fortress was awe-inspiring, and the second half the show was largely pretty good. On a whole, though, it's on par for me with G1 and Armada.
Which the Energon dub largely did try to hide, but the scene was still kept in. They did, however, hide Mirage's feelings in all his other scenes throughout the show (by making him even more generic than he already was ).Mindmaster wrote:Yeah, Energon as a cartoon was pretty bad, but the toys were good, if you ask me. Well, I mean that picture is nice and all, but if you put it side by side with an image of Smokescreen, they have some similarity in shape but they are really quite different, and I'm ignoring the colours, head and missiles. Just focusing on the body, the picture of Prowl is sporting very different forearms and shoulders, a slightly different chest, and different legs from Smoke's in-show model. I don't think that they will make Prowl in show look like that picture because it's that different. My opinion only, I could be very wrong. That is all I am trying to say.

Yeah, I can see all the differences, but if all they did was change his head, chest, and colors and add those shoulder rockets on the show, I'd pass him for Prowl.

Yeah, I know, they're not shaking hands in the Prime cap (which I hope happens at the end of "Chain of Command." ), I just used them for example. There are a couple times in The Rebirth where Magnus & Optimus just stand with one another and hold a conversation. Can't find any stills of that though.
Also, looks like the Autobots have some of their tech back (in the background, there's a computer)

I agree with your comment on Magnus and Optimus. I am so glad that Magnus made it in to this season of the show, and I'm like a kid in a candy store with all these Magnus figures too. Even though I prefer the PRID version of Magnus as a toy, the BH version in-show does look AWESOME.
I see in the preview that we get a look at Prime's new truck mode, so hopefully we also get a look at Magnus in truck mode (even though we know what to expect - I still want to see it in CGI!) Also very much looking forward to Smokescreens new deco in both modes.
