Of course! Hopefully it'll be original, but they may be trying to tie in some comic fans. "Y'know he was like that in the comics too!" Or they're playing it safe with a comics original character, as too not stray too far from his original backstory as to not upset fans of the character.
I mean, Hasbro has never rehashed and completely changed a comics original's backstory before in RiD.

So what am I getting at here? This is the first time that any Drift will face their status of being a former Decepticon in the main story.

Kurona wrote:Funny thing is, his whole deal of being a former Decepticon almost never plays into Drift's character. Oh sure, it happened in his spotlight and both of his spin-off miniseries in IDW, but beyond that? It doesn't come up during MTMTE, you wouldn't even know it's a part of his character in AOE unless you read one of the Titan comics (though, to be fair, you wouldn't know Drift's name in AOE unless you squinted hard at a two-second scene), and this is the first time it's coming up in Aligned. When he first created Drift, Shane McCarthy said he wanted to see what a character would be like if they were a Decepticon who turned Autobot - because that hadn't happened before 2008, clearly - and then never brought it up in AHM. Weird.

You getting at something? Thought you were just making a point.
You do actually have a point, though. And, as a show for kids, it could have the theme of "past actions do have consequences". Which would be a nice move away from the standard "teamwork is best" stuff they keep pushing. Plus, it would make me like Drift even more.
...wait. Kids learning actually lessons from shows is something of the past? Ohhhh... oops, wrong decade.
Sidenote: In one of the shorts, they say how Slipstream and Jetstorm meet Drift, don't they?

I'm pretty sure Slipstream said he used to be a thief back on Cybertron.

Which honestly sucks because Bludgeon was the one G1 reference I was excited for since he has never been in a show.
So why did they make a toy for him then in the first place instead of making figures of characters in the show.

So their going to put in a character that looks like Bludgeon but is not actually Bludgeon.
As great as some the cons are in this show they still continue to get the short end of the stick.

Exactly so were not even getting a cool skeleton robot because rule of cool can't exist in recent Transformers cartoons.
Not since Animated anyways.

True Rescue bots is pretty darn good...which is sad that the only recent media I've completely enjoyed is the Bay film s and a cartoon aimed towards little kids.
Still would love to see competent Decepticons some time so a show can have real stakes even if the outcome is obviously good guys win because as cool as some of those cons are they feel like a threat especially since death isn't a thing here not that the lack of death is a problem.

aye it was ok
it was funny when Sideswipe & Grimlock got fused together(but would that make them SideLock or GrimSwipe ) Shadowraker was interesting(but yet another bloody insecticon! of which we've seen quite a few already...in recent times) but this one's a flying Beetle...but weirdly has the ability to shoot webbing like a spider oh....& we find out that Drift used to be called Deadlock.
Anywhoo....here's a link to the ep(or wait for Sabr's links, which most of you do anyway!)

I agree with this sentiment. I haven't even watched past "The Great Divide" but the episodes I did see felt rather cheap and second-rate. Like, the show wasn't anything amazing to begin with, but to go from the Starscream arc (which had its own couple of piece-of-sh*t episodes in "Strongarm's Big Score" and "Pretzel Logic") to these episodes which only have so much density to them as if they were written on a 10-minute break, it indicates to me that something's slipping behind the scenes. I sense these writers are either getting another Beast Hunters shoved up their ass here (in which case, seriously, f*ck Hasbro), or they've truly dried up in the ability to write anything remotely standard in quality.
You know your show's jumping the shark when My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is airing alongside it and feels like it's got a more competent writing staff.

FIM's been airing for seven years now. They've obviously been doing something right.
And I actually enjoyed this episode. Slashmark was powerful and competent, just the kind of enemy Team Bee needs to fight more often. And I'll admit, the whole "body switch" thing has been done to death, but it was handled pretty well here.

They're not, really. The only thing keeping that show going is it's rabid adult fanbase chucking money at it, which is why Hasbro hasn't reinvented MLP's wheel a fifth time. I've been rewatching the show episode-by-episode for the past two years and the only season with consistent writing quality is season two. With every other season, it's good episode followed by bad episode followed by mediocre episode followed by good episode, because they've got 19,000 writers and a very loose direction for the show, so you're getting out of character moments, forced morals, rushed pacing, and sometimes stupid conflicts left and right. Compared to most shows I watch, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is on a relatively low rung due to its overall inconsistent quality.
But they even still have managed to keep the show moving forward with at least the bare minimum of standard writing for longer than two seasons. Robots in Disguise is prematurely running out of steam, and I wonder if that's studio conflict like Transformers: Prime and Transformers Animated or if the writers are truly getting lazy. The pessimist in me likes to pin this on the writers.

It also lists a third upcoming episode called "Guilty as Charged", but which has no airdate yet, only a description:
Strongarm worries that her Academy classmate Chicane may still harbor a grudge, but when a powerful foe comes after her old friend, Strongarm and the Bee Team put their sparks on the line to protect her.
TFWiki has this one listed as the very next episode, but I'd have to look into where they got that or if it's just a guess. Otherwise, it'll need to be corrected.
