Thanks to user chuckdawg1999, we have an English review of Cyberverse Ultra Class Shockwave. Chuck bought his off Amazon, and came nice and early! He himself said:

Ultra Class Shockwave is a surprising addition to the Cyberverse line, it is by far the figure with the most articulation and most complicated transformation. Much like the Warrior class version, this Shockwave features an unobtrusive gimmick that if anything adds to the figure. If you're going to buy one Ultra Class figure, make it Shockwave. If you're going to buy one Cyberverse figure period, make it Shockwave.

The review detailed the figure, showing off Ultra Shockwave's surprising articulation, as well as his "Wave Cannon" Action Attack. The figure itself has a much more complicated transformation that the Warrior, which involves folding the cannon to his back, and then folding out an arm that doesn't have one. This also means you can allow him to have a cannon-less arm.

Reviews of his fellow Wave 2 figures can be found here.

Chuck seemed very happy about the figure, but what about you? Let us know in the Pub forums below!

So the gun arm doesn't pop off and peg into the top, it just swings around. Even better!

Yeah, I'm really glad I was right about the hidden arm. It would have been so easy for Hasbro to just make the gun pop off the end of his arm and call it a day, but moving the whole arm out of the way and slipping out a third arm is a real stroke of genius on their part.

It also leaves a hole in the side. I want to stress again to be careful transforming the fake arm back, it does have a tendency to get stuck.

Not really sure if I'd count the knee articulation as legit for the bot mode, the point is below the natural bend and sculpted joint area :-?

It is so unfair to the entire line that Shockwave's toys are all so much better then the rest. That is pretty cool!

As noted in the haul thread, found Shadow Striker at a local Target. Fairly simple transformation but cool look.

Saw warrior shockwave tonight, but passed. It's either the ultra or the Siege one now, and they had Shadow Striker, meaning I just missed Shockwave. Drat.

I held the large Optimus Prime for a good amount of time, and really really almost bought him. Didn't quite bite, but he looks really good for his toyline and price. I may get one eventually down the line

Seibertron user and our old pal chuckdawg1999 bought a Cyberverse Warrior Class Megatron off Amazon second hand and made and sent us a review!

In the video he shows his Action Attack, with a spring loaded arm, which launches out his pink energon mace on a string. Chuck preferred this version over the Ultimate Class, but the figure still has problems, namely, the lack of a head-swivel. he himself said:

Warrior Class Megatron is a fun figure from the new Cyberverse line. In some ways, the figure is a bit better than the Ultimate Class version in terms of transformation and gimmick. Some might be disappointed by the lack of a head swivel and no elbow on the left arm, but it's an overall solid figure.

Reviews of the other Wave 2 figures can be found here.

So does this make you wanna buy the figure more? Or are you even less interested? Watch the video below and tell us your thoughts in the Pub forums below!

Spotted these two at Walmart today. They're not even in there system yet. Contemplated the fight it would have took to buy Shockwave, but passed.

Found Wave 2 Warriors at Walmart last night. They asked for a price prompt, but no real issues like I've had in the past when those pop up. Sadly, Windblade's only OK.

She looks like a K.O. of the R.I.D. figure, is that seriously the best Hasbro could do?

That is a question I had the moment I saw the figure. This is the first time in history we have ever had a mainline shockwave toy based on his G1 look at the voyager scale from Hasbro. Unlike other contenders for a spot on a classics shelf, he has most of the articulation points required (including awesome ankle tilt) and has the right look at every angle, especially the side and back with a G1 styled backpack.

However, this is still a toy from a line targetted at young kids with a more cartoon design than what we have seen in the Generations line. So, does he really work? Well I attempted to find out by purchasing him and taking photos of him next to various toys from the Generations line. Below are shots of him with his fellow decepticons, to show you how he scales, and to show you how the styles work (or don't) together.

Here he is putting up the good fight agains the autobots.

Here he is victorious.

And here he is ... not.

All in all, I think this works super well until we get a voyager sized shockwave in the Generations line.

For me personally, I'd say no. Hell no. That figure is very obviously a kiddie toy, and does not fit in with all my other slightly less kiddie toys. [-(

Seriously though, I just wanted to be a smart ass. I'm actually not a good sounding board, as I've developed rather high standards for my collection. For me, the design aesthetic just doesn't match up with Generations figures. This figure looks, to me, made for small children, while the Chug line looks made for large children (and us cranky old men). I can, however, see how it might work for others, especially as we have never really gotten a good Shockwave figure for that line.

This figure would probably make it onto my shelf of "cool figures I just like for no real reason" though.

Yeah I'm just gonna go with this.

But at the end of the day, it comes down to the individual collector. It's THEIR collection, THEY should curate it how THEY choose to.

You wanna have a shelf of whacky coloured robots made up from G2 and other sub-lines? You go right ahead you crazy whack-a-doodle!
Now I feel the urge to set up a shelf of whacky coloured robots.

Personally (largely due to the rumored Siege Shockwave) it's going to be a definite no for me. It looks okay but as somebody who has always preferred my Shockwave to be purple instead of magenta, and as someone who generally dislikes the particular aesthetic of the line he is from, I'll wait and see what else will come along. Seriously why aren't more 3rd parties doing CHUG these days?

I know you were being facetious, but I wonder, is it truly obvious? I mean FOC Soundwave clashes just as much with the aesthetic but he too is a generations toy. Magnus is IDW and the upcoming Siege toys have that gritty detail to them. So with them all clashing somewhat I didnt feel one was more out of place.

I think because the demand is more for MP. Collectors feel they are getting a better deal especially when a 3p MP costs the same as a Takara MP, while a 3p CHUG costs 2-3 times the price of a Hasbro CHUG.

And purple is always hard to photograph but I can assure you that while he is not dark purple, it is a nice full purple colour. I wouldnt call it magenta.

cyberverse is a bit too different for generations to fit in with
it would be like trying to put Teen Titans Go Robin in with Young Justice as their Robin
it wont look right

Yeah, I see that point. Like I said though, it really just comes down to a personal choice/preference. It doesn't quite work for me, but I can see it working for others. It doesn't look bad at all.

If it needs a 3p kit to make it work then I dont see how that makes it a great option. It definitely raises up the price. Plus, its not a mainline figure and is far from as accessible as this one.

Also, this one has a much more G1 accurate backpack (as opposed to wings) along with double the articulation points (ankle rockers, bicep swivel, ect).

I must admit though, that cyber battalion does still look really good. And very G1 (aside from the back)

For now, I am quite content with Prime Shockwave in the role, and this does not motivate mr to replace that toy. Js it perfect? No, but its a great figure. If not for thT, I would probably still be using Energon Shockblast, becaude I love the idea of Space Gun evoling into Orbital Weapins Platform, but the Ebergon figure has some color issues for Shockwave and the gun armbis a bit overkill. I fo keep the Six Shot repaint of that mold on my roster as "Astro Magnum".

For me, so would say yes. It's most obvious in how the Gimmisk is portrayed, and in the artistic style of detail elements and facial structure, as well as to a lesser extent the way the color palatte is used. Take for example the photo of Shokwave and TR Megatron. Shocks is a very vibrant color tone while the TR figures are muted, and thats true for most TR figures. Arguably, evwn the pink Misfire is still a more dull satin finish compared to the Cybervers color. Lao, the Generations figures have very squared up, blocky facial features with neutral ecpressions, whereas Shoxkwave has this furrowed brow thing going. Thats one of mt biggest nitpick of thevfigure is the headsculpt.

I suppose I coucld say though, if this were my forst Shockwave and I didnt have any of the previous Shockwaves, I would probably be pretty happy with this one for now. Hard to say if I would take this over the Battalion Shockwave, but with that option I would Definately be invedting in a Knee kit.

Thanks Death, though living in Canada means I no longer have decent outdoor lighting by the time I get back home from work. And my new phone's camera sucks hard (I dislike Apple, but i gotta give it to them, their phone cameras are great!).

As for the gimmick, well it is supposed to represent energy blasts coming out of it. Like it is frozen in time, like a blast effect. Now whether it pulls it off is another thing.

As for the gimmick, well it is supposed to represent energy blasts coming out of it. Like it is frozen in time, like a blast effect. Now whether it pulls it off is another thing.

Huh. With Devy,, he doesn’t look that bad. If anything, Shockwave makes the Starscream figure’s rounded, bloated feet and chest stand out more.
