UPDATE: Looking at the numbers LG-EX, these will be show exclusives like last year's Armada Megatron and Black Convoy. They will still be available to purchase at import retailers but at a higher price than normal. Based on previous similar exclusives, these will be available at these importers at around $40 for Waspinator and Rattrap and $60 for Rhinox.

I agree, I will probably buy this and sell my hasbro one. No need for a masterpiece when he looks like this.
The only thing I am wondering now is if this will be a 3 pack.

I looked into this and this is no better than Hasbro in the end since these are con exclusives and not in any way accessible to any of us until the aftermarket which will be pricey. Hasbro is also doing the 20th anniversary of beas wars as con exclusives, but instead of rereleasing figures, they are giving us new figures (retooled with very different deco) which make an updated version of Tripedicus.
So Hasbro has beaten Takara in terms of show exclusive exclusives honouring Beast Wars, from my perspective.

Good question. If these had individual numbers associated with them, I'd say separate releases. Combo packs, like Trailbreaker and Hoist, usually only have one number. These are all labeled simply as "LGEX," so who knows. I would think they would have added numbers after the "EX" just in case they wanted to release more special figures in their Legends line.

I looked into it. The EX means Exclusive. These are show exclusives like the previous LG EX figures Armada Megatrona and Black Convoy. These will probably be Tokyo Toyshow exclusives. Meaning anyone of us who wants these will hve to pay.

Tokyo Show Black convoy and Armada megatron weren't too bad when it comes to price all things considered.

If that's the case, my instinct is telling me to expect a three-pack.

I dont know, they were both double the Hasbro price.
The point is, this isnt a release that will be widely available, these are show exclusives and people who arent going to these events will end up paying double the Hasbro price. Whether that is a lot or no is up to the individuals. But they will have to pay more than usual none the less.
Rattrap and Waspintor will be $40 and Rhinox will be $60.

Not really, Black Convoy and Megatron were sold individually and so were these before:

Yeah but on the sliding scale of convention exclusives on the aftermarket Takara's price ain't that bad compared to funpub.

Oh I fully agree. Fun Pub's initial price is the same as the aftermarket price of takara's show exclusives. But I think its because these come directly from Takara and not a licence holder like Hero X who are making that exclusive Dogfight and Runamuck (or is it the other one).

Deathsaurus1 wrote:Anyone think we can expect a Hasbro ToysRUs exclusive platinum set of these guys? Or standalone platinum releases?
100% sure we wont. We never ever got a Hasbro release of any Takara show exclusive. And these are subtle deco changes. Usually a Hasbro release of a Takara toy has something different (look at the Platinum RID pack we just got), so since all of these are just slight changes to already existing toys you'd be asking for a straight up release of a Takara edition in the states and the last time that ever happened was in 2013 with the universe micromasters http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Superion_(Universe) which is 13 years ago, close to half of the existence of the Transformers Brand.
So if you want this exact deco (which is all this is, or else you could just buy the already ecisting ones), you will have to pay 40$ per deluxe, no way around it.

That's actually FunPub rather than Hsbro themselves, unless I've drastically misunderstood how the process works. Thus far, all Hasbro's offered is that overpriced red Primal, but Botcon and SDCC may change that.

You arent mistaken outright, just not informed on everything that is going on this year. It is explicitly stated by fun pub that this year was mandated by Hasbro. Hasbro brought its own people to plan this, from the people who did the art, all the way to those who did the bios (who is a friend of mine). Fun Pub ends up releasing these toys, but the theme (and characters used and the molds used) is all Hasbro's decision.
It was Hasbro's way of doing the 20th anniversary of Beast Wars (through their licensee fun pub, since this is their show) and thus I declare Hasbro a winner for how they have chosen to handle the anniversary of Beast Wars within a con setting and exclusive.

I've got a feeling Hasbro's much more hands-on oversight of the club this year (at least as far as the BotCon theme) is a preview of what's to come with the "restructuring" of the club for 2017 and onward.

Yup, they are going to take the reign for these fan shows and try making them more akin to a family geared starwars celebration type event. They realized you can make more money be appealing to families and they know fan will come regardless. Its still going to be a fan event but with an all ages spin. I dont know more than that.

Five figures I could have done without or three that look really cool, including two molds I don't even have (Waspinator and Rattrap)? I know what I like more, even if it ends up costing a lot. I respect Predacus but it doesn't do anything for me, unlike these Takara figures.

We don't have Walmart in Switzerland and all the CW figures have been very hard to get at retail, so I have to rely on online shopping. Unfortunately I missed out on Shockwave and he seems to be sold out everywhere online

Not only that: if I read the note on the bottom correctly, he will have Japan-original sounds as well. Yes, he'll keep the electronics
A few notes about the release names:
1.) Cancer = Crashbash aka Squeezeplay
2.) Broadcast = Blaster (kinda duh by the silhouette)
3.) Goshooter = Loudmouth aka Siren (possibly redeco)
I'm actually surprised they went with "Nightbeat" and not "Minerva"...

Perhaps they know something we don't about future mold releases (like Headmaster Arcee) where the Minerva character could be better utilized.

All they did was split up the Titan Master Class sets between a Deluxe and a Legends release. One less price to worry about, and increases playability of some sets. Plus, so far every TT set has a Titan Master one way or another.
Terri-Bull: Vehicle given to Headhead
Nightbeat: Titan Master given to Rewind
Crashbash: Vehicle given to Skull, Titan Master given to Shockwave as Cancer
Loudmouth: Titan Master given to Wheelie as Goshooter
