With Furman's blessing, writer Kieron Gillen brought the multi-dimensional mercenary back to Marvel comics, although always as a secondary character. Well, after showing up in the background of Marvel comics for the past year, Death's Head makes his full-on return in Gillen and Dale Eaglesham's latest Iron Man comic, issue 9, and he's in his full size!
Back in 2012, Seibertron.com reported from the Toy Fair that a new Marvel Universe figure of Death's Head had been announced by Hasbro - is this a good sign for its release?

Though naturally, I'm really hoping his Marvel Legends toy goes for Senior's first design, or at least the one right afterwards from when he had his first title. A 6 inch figure would be good TF interaction scale, but a 3.75 inch one would be nice too.

I normally try to stay away from anything Marvel-affiliated (not one for superheroes), but Death's Head is another matter, since his character does have its origins with the Transformers.

I'm not reading it, but I believe Iron Man is in space with the Guardians right now, or at least he popped by to say hi on his way off to a different part of space. Death's Head isn't just chilling in Harry's Hideaway or anything. That'll be a space bar.

So I am told, yes.

This is chronologically his first appearance in comics after his creation, i.e., before Transformers, Fantastic Four, his own series, Iron Man 2020, etc. That's what you get with time travel, and, we may assume, also explains his slightly different appearance and the fact he is still big. Either that, or thank Greg Land.
Death's Head is pretty ace in these issues, being played as a 24-carat badass.
He's really more a prop than a character, isn't he? Doesn't have family, friends or romantic relationships... what does he need money for, anyway? Kinda odd.

Tony's been in space for a few issues now, the issue actually kicked off with him and Starlord talking before Tony took off after Recorder 451 and recruited Deaths Head to help him track the Recorder unit down.
He may look a little different, but the personality is very much there.
This is the original pulled (well you can interpret it this way) from the TF Marvel universe and definitely not Deaths Head II who was last seen as a reserve member of MI13 and thankfully a far cry from the abomination of Deaths Head 3.0

Thanks in advance.

That being said, I do prefer the more conical shape od his head. This new body gets the torso right, but the new head is awfully Ghost Rider-ish. They gave hima lower jaw, and. Tirned his vent mouth into a mouth with slotted fork over it. It is a cool design though, and its a lot mcore bounty hunterish than his old design, which seemed awfully firendly looking. Some thought might have been given to the feet, but they'll pass for a giant alien robot who doesn't turn into a truck monkey.

Well, i think you ruled out the three most expensive things known to man...
for starters, that 55gallon drum of weaponsgrade nucleon he's holding ain't cheap. He may be sentient mechanical life, but this is still a materialistic universe. Ships break, ships need fuel, he needs fuel, place to recharge, the voltage to recharge, (check your monthly electrical bill, now imagine your a forty foot robot sho turns into a semi and plugs into the wall every night)

Unlikely, but awesome if it did happen, yes?

I loves me some Deaths Head, yes!
Simon Furman did us all a favour by creating this cheeky bounty hunter and I for one am glad DH is making a comeback in one form or another!
I prefer his 'original' Senior look but I did buy the DH2 comics which Liam Sharp pencilled. The massive changes Sharp made where probably due to excessive drinking, steroids and hanging out with Simon Bisley around that period!
We dont talk about DH3....
I was only thinking about Deaths Head just a few days ago, thinking why hasnt a 3rd Party company considered making an Action Master style DH figure, obviously in scale with other Transformers?
Heck, if Impossible Toys can bang out a Kranix figure then someone could come up with a faithful, articulated Deaths Head homage? Even Marvel!!
He would of course have to be Deluxe or Voyager scale!

Yeah I doubt it. I thought the post-credits IM3 scene would be a link to Guardians given that they have their own movie combined with their new comic and a new Nova series and Tony heading up to join them, but it didn't happen.
Deaths Head as part of the Guardians? At least in the comics we can only hope so!

Totally agree with that, Geoff is a great artist and would meke a fitting replacement for Andy Wildman when he leaves ReGen1!

I'd love to see Senior back on art duties. Don't see it happening. Maybe IDW could persuade him to come back for a one-off? Maybe a ReGen Annual? Or a Spotlight done in a similar retro style to the "Golden Age" story in this year's MTMTE and RID Annuals?

He did appear in MI-13 the series in the back ground, Avengers Forever and few other books. Got to love time travel that constantly allows both versions of the character past and future(the mega sized Deaths Head in Iron Man) to exist at the same time.

The full interview from CBR with Andy Lanning can be found here...Andy Lanning wrote:There are going to be eight issues in total which will include an Alpha and an Omega issue that are the bookends which tell the main story. But that story also runs through six one-shots that each focus on an individual character. I think the order is Dark Angel, Knights of Pendragon, Death's Head, Motormouth, Super Soldiers and Warheads. Each of those characters will get a one-shot against the backdrop of this over-arching story that the Alpha and Omega issues tell. It's going to come out over three months with two issues, and then three and then three.
