Leader Thundercracker was spotted today, by yours truly, at a specialty action figure and hobby store in Montreal, Canada, for 65$ cdn (a slight markup from Toysrus' 60$ cdn). This retail store is called Toysonfire, and is found at 1539 Van Horne. Consider this the retail equivalent to those early amazon listings from third party sellers that are more expensive than Amazon iself but available earlier. This means it's only a matter of time before they hit mass retail. For those not in the know, Leader Thundercracker is a retool and redeco of Leader Jetfire and will be further redeco'd into Leader Starscream.

Haha, no I did not. I bought a loose cybertronian bumblebee they had there for 7$. I usually go to check out their loose toy section. I find their prices a bit too expensive and I can wait for cheaper prices. I waited for Jetfire last year and Walmart brought him down to 30$. I will wait for something similar. Actually, this year will be super tricky since they are rereleasing MP 11 at TRU for 90$ as well as a coronation Leader Gen Starscream using the Thundercracker mold. Both are MP size so I don know which I will use for my MP scale display. If I go for the MP, then the leader gen seekers wont serve much of a purpose in my collection and I might just end up sticking with Jetfire as my only version of the mold.
And Sabr, click this link if you want to see what else that store had lying around.

Exactly. Jetfire should just fuck off and stop being a Seeker wannabe. This mold is clearly for Seekers.

With Magnus, it was easier due to the 150$ difference between both options (and the fact that both correspond to different scales so getting both is fine if money isnt an issue). But now, its only a difference of a few bucks and you go from Gen to MP. It's tearing my soul too. I am assuming that the MP starscream is coronation starscream. I think that will be what makes a difference.
Also, I laughed to hard at that rainbow comment of yours

Well sure, but the gentleman stated he already had Jetfire, so the seekers get to fuck off.
If I could sell him for a decent price, I'd get rid of Jetfire, 'since I would like to have CW Starscream for my Starscream collection. I give in on deluxe and voyager size, but I absolutely refuse to buy a leader class repaint.

I tend to be a one version of every mold guy. I don't own a version of the MP Seeker mold and I own Gen Jetfire. Easy choice if I had to pick one or the other. But I will say it again, TC is dead sexy in that getup!

(unless the issue is that you don't want to spend double the money for essentially the same figure... then I guess nevermind..)

I got lucky with my Jetfire, too. I returned Windblade because of all the bad things I've heard about her, and there was just one Jetfire sitting at the bottom at the shelf. Lucky for me, it was 25% off all 59.99 or more Transformers. I got him for 27.87 because I had already returned something else and got credit.

Maybe i was just unlucky with Hasbro MPs but for me everytime i bought one it had quality issues: bad painting, scratches, loose parts. My last purchase was mp Grimlock and he was missing a hand. When i spend that much $$$ i expect to get top quality.
On the other hand every Leader class i bought were almost perfect, good paint, tight joints, no broken parts. At half the price i think they are a really good deal. The Leader Starscream released will have the crown. And i think the Jetfire mold scales well with mp when used to make seekers.

That one came from me. Hope you enjoy, it's in pretty good shape. Was the Universe Onslaught still there? Everytime i go i am tempted to buy him.

I have no problems with mold sharing. I have a self imposed limit to try and only get one version of a mold. I break that rule more often than I would like to admit. Usually when it makes sense (Seekers) or if I really just like the mold. I have a feeling I'm going to need a lot of restraint this year.

If it was released at your regular brick and mortar stores like Walmart or TRU then sure it's a legit sighting and a good reason to post it to the front page. However in this case it is not.
Posted by shajaki on May 13th, 2015 @ 10:00am CDT
And such is stated in a number of different ways in the news post.Down_Shift wrote:Sorry guys, but Thundercracker has NOT been released at Canadian retail. It is for sale at a Collectibles store that sells comics, toys, and cards.
Consider this a shout out to Comic/Collector stores. People might not know they can be an outlet for Transformers. They deal with Diamond Distributors which routinely get Transformers, and for certain areas like Canada (with seemilgly dwindling resources ie: Targets departure) could be quite welcome.william-james88 wrote:Leader Thundercracker was spotted today, by yours truly, at a specialty action figure and hobby store in Montreal, Canada, for 65$ cdn (a slight markup from Toysrus' 60$ cdn). Does that mean we can never ever post sightings of Quickslinger and Brakeneck? Because those guys will only come to collectables stores and will never be found in store at Walmart and TRU.
Also a collectible retail store is still a retail store. Anyone in the area can go there and pick him up locally without having to go through shipping/customs/exchange/preorders/paypal/credit cards, just as you would with TRU or Walmart.

But I do mind!
Seriously though, the leader class seekers are a double no for me. The first reason is the repaint/mold aspect. As a collector, I'll never be a fan of them, but I get it. When it represents different, but similar looking characters, I'll even buy them with a half smile. When it comes to a leader class price point, I simply expect more for my money. I don't have any repaints above the 30 dollar level, not even masterpiece figures. My G2 Sideswipe and Smokescreen are KOs.
The second reason is I believe Jerfire should stand out from the crowd. In my personal opinion, having him share a mold with the seekers takes away from his uniqueness.
I'll be honest though, if I ever find Starscream on clearance or eBay for around $20, I'll buy him.

So its not about repeating molds, it's about paying money for a repeated mold?

More or less, and only at the higher price points.
Like I said though, it also has a lot to do with h my desire for Jetfire to be unique. I only want Starscream because I collect Starscreams.

To be honest - no. Sure, post news when an online sponsor has them in stock, that makes sense... but to post when one small comic book or collectible store gets a figure in stock does not.
Not to beat a dead horse but when I was on the News Staff one of or rules for posting sightings to the front page was that those sightings had to come from a chain retail outlet like Target or Walmart, not a specialty shop like a comic book shop. Since these stores order from a supplier over seas it's not so much a sighting as it is a special order from RobotKingdom.
But hey, if the rules have changed then please, by all means post away.
But that also means you should post if Silver Snail in Toronto gets a box of wave three deluxe in or a comic book shop in Chicago gets a box of Ultra Magnus, ya know?

Still, That mold look FANTASTIC, with a solid bot mode. The vehicle is not too shabby, but it's clear Magnus was designed as a robot first. Waiting until sepetember/october to get my Takara UM will be a long wait, but will totally be worth it.

Well first it's because that's how Magnus's alt mode looks in the comics, but also it's designed to be gigantic. The windshield slits are meant to be as big as normal windshields, if that puts the rest of the truck in perspective. Note the tiny doors.
Personally I am stoked for this guy. He looks fantastic, and I admire that they put all that detail inside the cab, based on the artwork. I bet it'll look better if someone paints it.

I'm still stoked, but I agree that he's super hollow. Then again, he has to be to hold cars in vehicle mode.
The biggest turn off for me is that the truck cab is smaller than Optimus from 2006. But that's a pretty minor gripe IMO. his back kibble could use a touch up as well.
