While the prototype at Wonder festival Winter was indicative of this, this upcoming toy is very accurate to the old model from the 90s. We can't imagine what the price could be! I mean, it must be magic keeping that robot kibbleless, eh?
So, what are your thoughts on this? You can see more images of the 58th Shizuoka Hobby Show at this previously mentioned article here, or by clicking one of the images below. But back to earlier, tell us if you're more excited (tee hee!) for this Masterpiece!

That was my concern too. Such a deliberate omission is ominous.

Still the robot mode is ace, and since I'll probably be exposing it that way, I won't mind it being a Shellformer - although that would really be a shame, technically speaking.
I'm still hoping for MP-36 level magic.

This is why they should have started the MP Spider-Mold with Tarantulas. His proportions giving a more uniform mold to retool into Blackarachnia.

Why cant they just all be unique molds released once or twice a year? That's the case so far with the show characters.

Because that isn't how Transformers works..
The Cat Bots and Spider Bots are Mold Variants. They are the only ones in the series, therefore for Show Accuracy they must continue to be. Every other character up until this point has been a unique Mold, which is why this issue only exists now.

This is so similar to the Cheetor into Tigatron debate it's not even funny. Fortunately those two will be the last of it.

All I mean is none of us should be arriving to conclusions so early when nobody knows anything.

But it is how the MP line works. I would honestly be more surprised if Tarantulus actually is a retool of Blackarachnia, given the differences in proportion between the two.
Tigatron and Cheetos are a different story because there wasn’t much difference between their character models besides size and face.

They do, though. BA's torso is more tapered, but otherwise the same. The Spider Bot and Cat Bot show models specifically demonstrate identical engineering. The same limbs, kibble, transformations etc
Mold variants aren't a new concept to the Masterpiece line either...

Regarding the price, this is the MSRP, meaning that the prices from some Japanese vendors like Amazon Japan will be lower. However, this will be the price western sellers will probably sell this toy for and after the qc problems with previous MPs, many fans have preferred buying from local importers due to the ease of exchanging defective products.

Blackarachnia's model has more differences with Tarantulas', chief in the shoulders, torso and legs.
Where are some good images when you need them?

That is not correct. I don't mind the discussion but if you are going to correct me, please come with facts rather than simply what you think/remember. The torso is far from the only difference. There are enough differences to call them different show models in my opinion.

Not to mention Blackarachnia’s certain other qualities. I don’t know what they are, but I just can’t quite put my hands on them.

Clearly some people were too busy leering at the Sex Bot design growing up, to realise that the two Spiders and two cats shared a single model, due to budget reasons. I thought the reason BW cast was so small was pretty common knowledge?

Look again, at the areas I previously specified: the shoulders and torso are all different, not just stretched out or compressed like Tigatron's was from Cheetor. The legs... debatable with the texturing.
Posted by Immortal Starscream on May 8th, 2019 @ 1:50pm CDT
My only concern, seeing all that gold paint, is that she wont be like my mp cheetor. As in, she will not have every part completely coated in paint. all of my cheetors joints have cracked and began to disintegrate from the extra tension created by the paint being on the inside of said joints. one of his wrists is more superglue then plastic now.

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Yes I already addressed the shoulders, the torso and the legs. The Tarantulas mold was shaped into a Fembot....
But the definition of "sharing" seems to be different between us. I think a more accurate term could be... "adapted"?

As the original point of the show models being similar was to see how feasible Tarantulas would be as a retool, I'd say maybe. Not as a direct retool (meaning directly sharing parts), but made from the same "skeleton", meaning joint placement and transformation would be the same. Same for Tigatron.

regardless of shard parts on the show models, (seriously only the arms are the same on them, and if you really think the tarantulus model was "shaped" into blackarachnia, then you never heard the story of how her character model was invented.) the spider designs on both of them were radically different, although I could see how her spider mode could have been reshaped from tarantulus. BA's abdomen was more rounded, thicker and and bulbous. it was shorther then tarantulus' though. she also had longer skinnier legs. only the head and pedipalps are the same, with different textures and sizes applied (tarantulus' was bigger then hers). and since this line is making such a big deal in making scales match, there's no way they can reuse any of this mold to make tarantulus. the build would have to be completely different to pull off his wider stockier, hunched over and shorter form.

Price point is a bit higher than I would have hoped, as I was hoping for $120 around MP-45. But still, I'll consider her when pre-orders go up.
But dang. talk about a heavy fall. MPM Megatron, Jazz AND MP Blackarachnia. That is a heavy MP year ender

As an aside, maybe it is just me, but after Blackarachnia, I really hope the next MP Beast Wars figure isn't Tigatron or Tarantulas. Waspinator or Rhinox perhaps?
