There are plenty. 12" GI JOE collectors buy lots of 'dolls'.
And there are many fans of character action figures male or female.
This is not my cup of tea, but I do like the Minerva.

Women would call them "dolls"
Men call them "Action Figures"
For further education I'd suggest you look into S.H. FiguArts, S.I.C., or even D-Arts figures

No, male collectors call them "action figures" to sugarcoat the truth.
Men call them "dolls".
It may be expensive, based off a boys cartoon, and look great in a man cave, but it's still a doll.

Those actually look pretty cool. But as I clearly stated before, the hispanic population in south Florida is very family oriented and protective of their daughters. Having a bunch of erotic young looking dolls in your house will just make people talk s**t about you. I know in some parts of middle America, anything goes from incest to polygamy. But not in Miami.
I am by no means saying you or anyone on this forum do such things. Im just being honest. It's kind of like putting a Jessica Rabbit doll in youre living room and saying youre an cartoon fan.

A doll is a toy of a human being, often used as a toy for children. Dolls have traditionally been used in magic and religious rituals throughout the world, and traditional dolls made of materials like clay and wood are found in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe. The earliest documented dolls go back to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece and Rome. Dolls being used as toys was documented in Greece around 100AD. They have been made as crude, rudimentary playthings as well as elaborate art. Modern doll manufacturing has its roots in Germany going back to the 15th century. With industrialization and the appearance of new materials like porcelain and plastic, dolls were increasingly mass produced. During the 20th century dolls became increasingly popular as collectibles.
Action figure
An action figure is a posable character figurine, made of plastic or other materials, and often based upon characters from a film, comic book, video game, or television program. These action figures are usually marketed towards boys and male collectors. Redressable action figures are sometimes called action dolls [1] to distinguish them from those with all or most of the clothes molded on.
It is argued that action figures are particularly popular with boys because they represent traditional masculine traits and are closely associated with the public sphere.[2] While most commonly marketed as a children's toy, the action figure has gained wide acceptance as an adult collector item. In such a case, the item may be produced and designed on the assumption it will be bought solely for display.

Here are some posable character figurines that are all geared toward boys and male collectors. So I guess you would consider them "action figures" too ???

That is such a narrow-minded, sexist, and offensive thing to say.Rated X wrote:How many people plan to buy a male doll ???
People buy toys of the characters they like. And, IMHO, Ginrai was the greatest Autobot leader of all the Autobot leaders in the entire Generation 1 era. That's right, I said it. The greatest Generation 1 Autobot commander was a "Puny Fleshling".
Rated X, what is your problem with human toys?Rated X wrote:No, male collectors call them "action figures" to sugarcoat the truth.

Do you really think that the term "doll" is appropriate for such human toys as G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, Action Man, DC superheros, Marvel superheroes, LEGO people, He-Man, the Simpsons, Family Guy, etc., even when they're made out of plastic and have no soft, felt material buolt into them?
Why, did you also cry "foul" when Kicker got his own toys in Energon?
Or how about Ga'Mede, who came with e-Hobby Magnificus?
Or even Jack, Miko, and Raf?
In fact, as I have told you time and again, Minerva and Ginrai, in these forms, ARE. NOT! HUMAN!!!!
Honestly, in the words of someone on TFWiki, it's people like you who take your "manly, tough, not-at-all-nerdy, children's-toy-collecting, kid's-cartoon-watching hobby way too seriously."
Ask yourself good and well how any of this applies at all to Ginrai, who is the main topic that we're discussing here.Rated X wrote:Those actually look pretty cool. And even in regards to Minerva, there's nothing erotic about a girl whose body (minus her head) is made up entirely of robot parts and has nothing to reveal on her body.
Why, most fanmade Arcee toys look more erotic than CM Corp's Minerva figure.
And not a single one of those four fall into the same category of toy as this Ginrai figure does. Nice try, but no cigar.Rated X wrote:Here are some posable character figurines that are all geared toward boys and male collectors. So I guess you would consider them "action figures" too ???

As far as my hate for "human" toys, I always saw robots as the "cool" alternitve. 1980's GI joe was cool too because they were small unlike the 60's versions that could go side by side with your sisters Barbies.

Well, what's it gonna take for you to realize that not all "action figures" are of "non-human beings"? Because that's a very foolish way to think.Rated X wrote:Yall gotta understand, I may be a serious Transformer collector, but I still grew up hanging out in the hood. I never said they were. I just believe any human figure the size of a Barbie or larger is a doll no matter how many points of articulation it has. Call it ignorant, but you gotta draw the line somewhere between the two. From a childs perspective, the bigger it is, the more cuddly it becomes. Just for kicks, if the Ginrai toy was the size of a small infant, would you still classify it as an action figure ???

That would hurt with these figures. What with all thier rough edging and sharp, pointy, robotic body builds.Rated X wrote:From a childs perspective, the bigger it is, the more cuddly it becomes.
As a generalizing term? Yes. But for a more specific term, for something that large, I'd call it a "statue", or a "display piece". An articulated statue, but a statue nonetheless.Rated X wrote:Just for kicks, if the Ginrai toy was the size of a small infant, would you still classify it as an action figure ???
And just for kicks, suppose they gave a human Pretender Shell to the G1 Fortress Maximus toy. Not a shell for the head robot like what they did for Grand Maximus, but a shell for the full 2-foot tall citybot.

Not sure what I would call it. If it was a giant alien shell with claws or a dragon tail, I would probally love it. If it was a shell that looked like Sergant Slaughter, I would be horrorfied. As a kid, the last thing I wanted to play with were humans because I was a human. Didnt seem that exciting to me. I wanted to play with things that are out of this world. (but thats just me)

Wow, no G.I. Joe, Centurians, Ghostbusters, Visionaries, Spiral Zone, Inhumanoids,
He-Man, Warlord, C.O.P.S., WWF, Super Powers... All had human figures. You missed out.
Going back to your first comment in this thread, I would imagine most men who collect toys into adulthood could care less about shallow women and their thoughts of their collections. It works for you to be self conscious about what women think belongs in your(?) collection. Calling these dolls is humorous at best.
Posted by fenrir72 on March 10th, 2012 @ 2:05am CST
I have to correct you on one aspect..Ginrai and Minerva are technically cyborgs. Human with machine parts.
Anyways, based on that other guy's definition, with his use of examples, action figures with removable clothing are dolls, so he already negated his argument that Ginrai/Minerva are dolls......you can't cast-off their uniform/armor/clothes.
Talk about a doll fetish..........makes me wonder whether he actually has seen the real biological "thing" from the opposite gender.

In Suit Mode, aside form their heads, they no longer have any organic components in their bodies, with their robotic armor suits literally becoming their actual bodies. So, they'd qualify more as "androids" or "artificial humans" ("jinzo ningen" for you DBZ fans) than cyborgs.fenrir72 wrote:@ Sabrblade

Nah. I went from 4 years of Transformers (1984-1988) and went straight to Nintendo. I honestly never liked action figures of human characters.
As far as women are concerned, If you got the right personality it doesnt matter what you collect. But you gotta draw the line somewhere. I draw it for "doll like" transformers characters figures. Im a man first and a collector second.
Posted by Sabrblade on March 10th, 2012 @ 9:38am CST

Man, I love my Marvel icons Venom doll, it's so f**king cudly. I tak eit to bed with me and hug it, and rub it against my face and chest due to how amazingly cuddly it is. I also play tea party with it and combe it's tounge and I kiss it and call it Steave.
God I love how cuddly the hard plastic is it'S almost as cuddly as my Armada Unicron doll.

The episode that Shūta, Cab, and Minerva got their Masterbraces. Upon entering Suit Mode, they tested out their bodies and found that they now possessed extraordinary abilities beyond normal human capability. Their bodies were now robotic, but could go back to being organic whenever they returned to regular human form. That's the magic of Chōkon Power.RhA wrote:Sabrblade wrote:In Suit Mode, aside form their heads, they no longer have any organic components in their bodies, with their robotic armor suits literally becoming their actual bodies. As stated by your posts. It's your personal hang up that this type of figure is a doll. Not them Floridians but your own personal view/prejudice/taste. Okay, we get it.
You have inserted your view like every time the post was updated by Blurzz. We get it. You don't like human looking figures. Not your "neighbors". You. So........ get over it!Quit trolling/spamming/flame baiting!
We hear your views, it does not mean we should all accept it. It's kind of getting tired that I created another thread for you to ventilate your concerns. Just leave this thread alone unless you have another topic to contribute.
Btw, I also posted a pic of Minerva at another anime figure related site where I am a member and posted a question if this figure was anywhere ero to their taste. There were like 5 women members(confirmed women) who so nothing closely erotic or creepy about Minerva's figure. Now Revoltech's Queen's blade figure........that's another matter.
Heck even my granny doesn't see her any more ero as your friendly neighborhood Spiderman in his skin tight, muscle marking spandex outfit.
So QUIT IT! You mentioned you have drawn the line.....OKAY, line drawn!
Now, let's get back and talk about when the item will be released.

Now now, as much as I do like being zealous about the news, the true men of the hour in regards to it are El Duque, and GRR. I'm far past my Prime
And honestly, let's just move along here. When it comes down to it, these are all toys. And we don't need to stress or lose sleep over what other people think about toys. Forums are meant to spread our appreciation and enjoyment of our hobbies, not for us to poke swords at each other. Let's keep it easy boys.

El Duque and GetRightRobot were the ones who most often updated this thread. For which I am eternally thankful (and sorry for not giving right credit)
Anyway, if I sound like a broken record.................I just can't wait for a final/confirmed release date.

I got nothing but respect for you my friend. But in my "culture" it is considered a doll. Some collectors might be in denial and try to create a new category for the pieces that sounds more "acceptable to guys". But at the end of the day it's still a doll. Just like the 1972 GI Joe nurse doll that they tried to pass off as an "action figure" to sell to boys. (and failed miserably) And I might just buy Minerva, but I wont sugarcoat the truth.
