One of the fallouts from my trip last week to New York was my camera. The LCD screen shattered on the 2nd day of my ordeal with JetBlue last Thursday at JFK airport in New York. Someone knocked into me and I lost the grip on my backpack which hit the floor. Fortunately, my laptop was OK, but my camera somehow didn't fare well even though it was insulated in the bag. I'm assuming this is what caused the LCD screen to crack because I can't think of anything else that I would've done. Anyway, I'd like to go buy a new camera this weekend if possible. I really didn't plan on buying a new camera for a while because I just bought this camera last February. If you are able to donate any money via Paypal, it would be really appreciated so that I can continue to bring you guys the latest galleries. Movie Wreckage, Titanium Cheetor and Titanium Fallen are waiting for me to get a new camera because my 5 year old digital camera just isn't up to the task anymore.

If you're able to donate, please click on the button below. I really appreciate any assistance I can get toward a new camera.

Use the viewfinder... it still works right?

It's really hard to keep a picture in focus from the view finder. I think something might actually be wrong with the inside of the camera. I took 3 pictures of the JetBlue flight board and this was the best of the 3 that I got with the viewfinder. Not to mention that it's really hard to see what you're taking a picture of when it's that small in the viewfinder.

Holy crap. I hope you're all right. For your next camera, you might want to look into one of those whose LCD is on a little panel that can fold out and spin around, allowing the LCD to be protected (since it ends up facing the back of the camera). Trust me, that screen-protection feature has saved me time and again.

I hope that you can replace your camera real soon, Chief. Best of luck to you!

Eek, same thing happened to my iBook's LCD a few years ago. Never did get that em-effing thing fixed. D:

Anyway, I donated a little something to the camera fund. I'm sorry it's not much, but it was all I could do at the moment. Hope you get a new camera soon so we can see more of your awesome toy galleries!

Bumer I would like to donate my camera, but it's probably too cheap a brand to use for the galleries.

I did call Best Buy to find out how much it would cost to replace the LCD screen. According to the Geek Squad by where I live, they said it would cost about $200 - $250 to fix the LCD. The camera was $450 a year ago so that's obviously not worth it. I'd rather just get 2 models up from what this one was which is now the same price as this was a year ago. This camera was only 5.0 mega pixels but the model at the same price point that replaced this is a 7.0+ megapixel camera.

Thanks for the donations so far guys! We only need about 80 more people to donate about $5 - $10 each and we'll have ourselves a new, better camera to take pics of the newest figures I've received.

Man, you do lots for us and ask for pretty much nothing in return. I love this site, and enjoy your galleries.

I can't give much, because I'm in the middle of moving and helping my sister prepare for her kid. But I'll give what I can, and feel happy to contribute.

For The Glory of The Colony!

Thats cold, he isn't asking for him, he's doing this for US!

I'm in advertising photography, and especialy with display items, that screen is priceless. One small nudge to the camera looking into the veiwfinder can ruin a shot that took forever to set up and light even if your using a tripod.

If you can't help, thats fine, I wish I could do more myself, but this is the Man's art that he shares with us for nothing, he knows what tools he needs.

DAMN that's terrible Ryan... I'll see how much I can donate hopefully $10-20. Guess it's abit of an excuse to upgrade...but nonetheless that really sucks the big one.

if the camara's broken, what'd you use to take pictures of it?!?!?!...

sorry.. just being a hard a$$...

Good Luck Man... let us know what you're thinking of getting... personally I always do my shopping online.. lots and lots cheaper... find something you like at Best Buy and then froogle it...

Sorry to hear your loss Ryan. You do a lot for us with your galleries. I donated some money to your cause. I hope you are able to get the camera you want. :D

Someone asked above what I used to take the picture of my broken camera. I used my 5 year old Sony Cybershot 3.2 megapixel. I tried taking some photos last night with it but it's too much work to do the stuff that I was able to do with the newer cameras. It's the camera in the middle of the following photo:

To those of you who have already donated, thank you so much! We're already up to $55 for the new camera. We're an 1/8th of the way there and we'll have a new camera on our hands.

Expect a donation from me later on this week, once I get some recent credit card activity paid off. I'll do anything to make sure you can keep those galleries comin', especially with the movie stuff slowly seeping into the eBay market.

It'll be fun to see Wreckage on the site so quickly, too bad you didn't win the auction for Jazz! It would have been cool, we haven't even seen real pics of his toy yet.

Someone out there has a MOC Movie Jazz, and he/she isn't sharing...

It technically is for 3 more days (ends on the 22nd) but I can't find my actual receipt and who knows how long it will take for me to receive the camera back. I've got a stock pile of figures I'd like to go through next weekend so I'd like to have a new camera in my hand by Friday or Saturday at the latest. I'm going to figure out something with that camera at some point so that I don't have to take the new nice one around with me on trips so that this will hopefully be avoided in the future.

Dude take a pill. I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything, just wanted to know if there was other options until he could buy another one. Given the pictures he took, yeah something is definitely messed up with the inside mechanisms. No point in getting it repaired either. Just go and get a FujiFilm SLR camera. Those are sweet.

I'm pretty sure it was without the flash. It shouldn't be doing that either way though. This camera has the anti-hand shaking thing on it.

Hey no offense taken. I'm sure there's something I can do with the old camera but for the sake of time and money, I'd rather just move on and get a new camera so that we don't miss a beat. I'm on a business trip right now in Michigan so I can't do anything with the new galleries for the site until I get back to Chicago on Friday. When I get back to Chicago, I'll buy a new camera on Friday or Saturday. I think we'll be able to come up with the resources by then.

This is what I'm thinking ... I'm very loyal to the Sony brand so I think I'd like to stick with it since I'm so familiar with the cameras after using them for about 7 years.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 0393352648

Sony - Cyber-shot 7.2MP Digital Camera - Black

Model: DSC-H5/B SKU: 7740126

12x optical/2x digital zoom; 3" TFT LCD; direct-print capability

----------------------------

Though I wouldn't mind the 10+ megapixel Sony camera. That would make taking pictures of the little Transformers really easy.

Well, if enough people donate 5-10bucks, and im sure many will, then the 10.2MP shouldnt be to far out of reach. Of course you could always buy the 7.2 and use any extra to purchase another figure for the gallery...which reminds me, did the minerva gallery ever go up?

The 10.2 MP is a nice camera but it may not be necessary for Ryan unless he plans to enlarge his pictures so they're 20"x30" across.

sorry to hear that dude. All I have is one camera, a kodak 5 MP, but I have no job, nor do I have a bank account atm...

I meant to say, if you bought it from bestBuy, and you had a Prouct Replacemnet Plan, they should give you a camera comparable to the one that is broken.

I know, I used to work for Best Buy.

Hey, Ryan, while I am a tight budget and can not donate at this time (which annoys me to no end to not help a friend), I can only offer this: May you get the new camera and may it serve you and this site well.
Re: Camera Donation Fund for Seibertron.com Galleries (28936)

I wont be donating. Surely Ryan's well paid job and advertising revenue from this site can/should cover this cost. It seems rather unethical to ask the users of the site to pay for a repalcement camera when you're making money out of their page view, an will make even more with each new gallery you snap with the camera they paid for. Surely the galleries should pay for themselves?

Sorry Ryan but I had to say something.

Yours AK
