Monkey see, monkey do. I love the 'Hasbro observing people' bit. Seriously, I WOULD LOVE to observe Hasbro marketing board meetings. Do these people live in closets, or did the brand testing on a bunch of kitbashers take a while to perfect?
Please try and take my post lightly. I'm aware of restrictions and what not. Shelf space allocation, stores' unwillingness dictating products, aiming things at kids who have the attention span of a goldfish to make sure they don't wander to the Ben 10 aisle and all that. But really, this just sounds like a bunch of people stepped out of a cave one day and said 'wow, this is how people play with our toys?' then frantically and excitedly makes notes ahhh, business men never change.

Swerve and Cosmos look adorably awesome! Glad I held out from third party companies and GDO Generations for these guys. But I'm not really into their partners. Do they transform into weapons?
Doubledealer's new head kinda threw me off. Not sure why. But I do like the way it looks, however. So what faction will he be advertised, Autobot or Decepticon? It appears he has the Autobot badge on his tank mode.
Not too keen on Rhinox's rhino mode, but that robot mode is just too gorgeous to pass up!
Not really into the Beast Hunters Legions and Commanders. Bluestreak doesn't look very... Bluestreak-y.
The Beast Hunters Deluxes and Voyagers... all kinds of fail. Seriously, what went through their minds, upscaling the Legends figures for Bumblebee, Smokescreen, and Optimus? Twinstrike and Windrazor are okay, I guess. Should have given Twinstrike some elbows.

Also: Why are Legion class toys labeled as Deluxe here?
Because Hasbro is screwing us over with the Beast Hunters line. Those ARE Deluxes. They took the Legion Class figures and upsized them to Deluxe. They just gave them new paint jobs and new accessories, that's it. No added articulation like elbows, knees or a balljointed head, nope. Straight up upsizing of the Legion molds.
Same with Commander Class being turned into those new Voyagers of Optimus and Predaking.
I'm hoping this just stays with Beast Hunters and doesn't cross over into Generations. Those new "Deluxes" and "Voyagers" are a joke.
Now, onto the reveals...
Skids: BOUGHT.
Waspinator: BOUGHT.
Cosmos: BOUGHT.
Swerve: Iffy. (Maybe.)
Rhinox: BOUGHT. (But he looks more like a Deluxe, rather than a Voyager. Shows his tooling is somewhat simplified. So, perhaps the Beast Hunters planning will carry over to Generations.)
So far, I'm terribly unimpressed and saddened. I'm already missing Aaron Archer and his team. I realize these toys are aimed at kids, and that's fine, but if you make it too simplistic, they won't like them either. They're one step away from Rescue Bots, well, the Beast Hunter Deluxes, that is. Power Rangers Megazords and their components have more complexity than some of the upcoming stuff, and they're just stylized bricks!
I'm afraid to see what they do to TF4 toys. I really am. If this continues, I might quit Transformers altogether. No, I'm serious. I REFUSE to pay Deluxe pricing for a Legion figure. They look like terrible knock offs! I'd rather own a knock off!
P.S. I forgot to mention... Not only did they upsize the Legions, but they stripped the combining functionality from Windrazor and Twinstrike. Their combiner pegs are missing from their legs/feet. Yeah. WTF, Hasbro? Are you serious? Are you trolling us with this shit?! I'm so angry I'm swearing.

The only good thing to take away from this is that the Predacons will more than likely be able to combine into a deluxe scaled Abominus.
It was okay back in the Generation One days, where toy technology was beginning to progress. But I agree: if they make the other Predacon Terrorcons, and they all feature the combining gimmick, I'll get those. But as for Smokescreen, Bumblebee, Optimus, and Predaking...

You nailed it.
So.
Construct Bots: Meh.
Generations. AMAZING. Definitely getting Cosmos, Waspinator, and RHINOX! *drools* (side note: I could have sworn there was a "drool" emote, but I can't find it) Might get Goldbug and Swerve. Probably not getting Doubledealer, although I like what they did with him. The shark face on the jet nosecone is a nice homage both to a real military practice and Doubledealer's original Decepticon beast mode.
Beast Hunters: *cries* Bludgeon from Commander Shockwave is bloody amazing, and that's about the best I can say. Megatron redeco is Megatron redeco. Ultra Magnus from Commander Prime...well, they tried. Should've just had the shoulder pauldrons stick out behind the windvane like on the Voyager. 5/10 for the attempt. The upscaled "Deluxe" legions make me weep. They could, at the very least, have tweaked the molds and added some more articulation with the bigger size. They could still keep the old engineering and add in a few ball joints and hinges, damn it. I'm looking at you, Upscaled Twinstrike especially. Also, looks like you can't even combine the giant Terrorpreds into an Abominus, because the combiner pegs are missing from Twinstrike and Windrazor. I will get the redecos of all the proper legion-sized Terrorpreds because those are cool for the size, but these upscales are abominable. No pun intended.
So clearly, Hasbro just padding out the Prime line at this point while they focus on Generations and develop the movie 4 toys, probably launching next Spring. IT'S OKAY TO JUST END THE LINE, GUYS. It's gonna take a few months to clear out the old stuff anyway, so ship the last waves in time for Christmas, let the residual stock be picked at over the next few months, and let Generations carry the line until TF4. BAM. I think I just out-business'd Hasbro. This is what happens when you fire your senior marketing director.

It's a shame about the upsizing in the prime line, but I'm surprised they didn't boot Hardshell up and label him as just an Insecticon warrior.
Skids? It's not a bad choose, but I was hoping for Chromedome to get a figure first...oh well. We're getting Whirl so it's not too bad!

And Dreadwing looks like just another Sweep thanks to the stealth bomber update we got with Scourge a few years back, and that Goldbug is kinda hideous in my opinion.
As usual I was expecting a little more (especially this year with the impending anniversary looming), but I can't complain much considering the impending Hasbro Masterpiece line coming down the pipe. Those alone should be enough to keep my wallet busy for the next year or so.
*Thanks again for the coverage guys, I imagine the schedule is exhausting.

This is shocking, and utterly ludicrous. Children are children. They are not stupid. They are simply smaller and younger than us. Going back to basics? To anyone who was there, was the guy who said that particularly smug with himself? I bet he was. Another amazing brainstorm session that confirmed to them all wholeheartedly that this was the way to go. Sad thing is, they believe this shtick.
Permit me to introduce one of my fave TF figures: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/toys/g2/laser-optimus-prime/341/1/61/
Minus the trailer, he has no more than 5! 5 transformation steps, and looks a million times better than this idiocy.
Again, to the good people at Botcon right now, if it is at all possible (which I doubt since they are probably now back in their containment suits analyzing the brainwaves of children via mind flight over the astral plane) could you please PLEASE show this post and the battle convoy link to somebody at Hasbro. Please? PLEASE??
Oh, and now we all know why Takara are padding out the line with those combiners. And knowing is half the battle.

The Generations figs are AMAZING! Not to keen on the blown up legion figs....staying away from those, though I am glad to see the commander Optimus got a voyager scale version. I'll be getting him and Predaking.

God I hate business men. Yes I know I'm getting snarky all over the boards and I apologize for the broken negative record, but for fudges' sakes, when will these people drop the 'we business men you common folk who buy anything' circus and actually realize that, at the end of the day we are all just intelligent adults sitting in a room together.
It DOES NOT require super powers, special abilities, degrees, fancy letters after our names or any other elitist label to design a TF toy. Kitbashers have been doing it for years. Fan artists have been doing it for years. Yes, yes, the business element is there, as I said in a previous post I DO KNOW of all the twaddle of getting 'into the market' Been there, done that. It's hard, realists are needed, not just the dreamers (artists, designers)
But honestly, is there a need for the pedestals? That separation between those who love this 'franchise'(ugh) and those that see it as nothing BUT a franchise?
I'll leave you all alone now.
Peace.

They'll pull out the big guns at SDCC in a few weeks, mark my words. There's more reveals to come, and some pictures of stuff announced today that we haven't gotten pics of, like Skywarp, Scoop, Whril, and Armada Starscream. Last year's Botcon was kind of underwhelming as well, and then SDCC rolled around and they pulled out all the stops. They have to fight for attention there, so they save the important reveals for that conference.
RAcast wrote:Er...Upscaled Legions...Not sure that I like this. Depends on whether or not the TerrorPreds combine I suppose.
Doesn't look like it, they're missing the pegs inside their legs that let them attach to Hun-Gurrr's arms.

Those are upscaled Commanders, FYI.

That is the best Beast era toy I have ever seen. Check out that head sculpt. It is almost perfectly concealed in beast mode and is not a shell former. My only nit pick is he looks a little young but that is not enough to make me think he is anything other than perfect. DO NOT screw this mold up Hasbro.
Runner up:
Great robot mode, just a shame with the robot arms visible in beast mode but cool non the less. It is also could do with being stretched out a bit. It won't be displayed in beast mode anyway so nvm. I need to hunt down Universe Dinobot now.

SDCC is in July. What better way to celebrate my 18th birthday than to be presented with a toy based on one of my all-time favorite characters, Armada Starscream?
I hope to God Skywarp uses the War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron Starscream mold, but I can't imagine them giving us a uniform Starscream and Thundercracker and not Skywarp.

Lucky me, I snagged one when they were still selling them in-stores back in 2009. I had initially planned to get Cheetor and have those two face off, when I couldn't find him, I just put him to the side. With Waspinator revealed, I guess Dinobot can finally come out of the shadows of my shelves.

They're trying to pad Prime out through to mid-2014 when the new movie toys can replace them. Never mind that Generations could do that just fine, and if they ended Prime in December, there would be enough residual Prime stuff on shelves to last the retailers until May. There might be a new combination mechanism for the Deluxe Legion Terrorpreds, but I'm not holding my breath.

I quote again:
Transformers Prime Deluxe Class 2014
--------------------------------------------------
(Talked about going back to basics, demonstrated how easy it was to transform G1 Optimus Prime)
Bumblebee w/ dragon shredder sword (basically looks like large version of Legion class, less complicated = bigger toy)
Windrazor (basically deluxe class sized version of Legion class)
Smokescreen
Twinstrike
So they're Legions upscaled to Deluxes. Would be fine if they had added more articulation.

No mention of the price for "just larger Legion Class figures," I see. Like I said earlier today, there better be a serious price reduction on this type of Transformer. A little more articulation on these figures and I'm okay with paying the $12-$15 for them, but not as they are.
Apparently this particular line's design team need to take a "lesson learned" page from Microsoft/X-Box recently. Microsoft planned on screwing buyers of their new X-Box out of more and more money until enough fans complained of the screwing and not liking Microsoft's new ideas that they made the necessary changes to appease the masses. As it stands now, I only see myself purchasing the Terror/Predacons of this deluxe line if only just so I'll get a deluxe-sized Abominous.
