Transformers Club members have received the following notice from FunPublications informing us that the Botcon registration will be going live next week!

The Botcon 2013 Brochure can be found HERE (Note that this is a PDF link)

The package information matrix can be found HERE (Also a PDF link)

The last member of the Boxset has been revealed to be MEGAPLEX, however no further images of the character have been shown yet.

Hello all,

We have upload the BotCon brochure! Please go to BotCon.com and click on Information.

You will have approximately a week to read the information and ask questions before we open registration sometime next week. Before we open registration or send a question, please review the answers by clicking on the FAQ.

You need to CHECK your account at TransformersClub.com/shop to ensure that your account is current as you may need to renew in order to receive the membership discounts. If you are receiving this email, you have an active account with the club, but make sure you know your log-in and password (can be retrieved at TransformersClub.com/shop click on My Account).

If you are registering with another member, you will need THEIR log-in and password to receive member pricing.

If you complete your order with non-member pricing, we CANNOT adjust your pricing. Please understand what you are ordering and confirm the pricing before you check out. If you do not think you are getting the correct pricing, do not continue. If you continue, you are agreeing to the pricing you are being presented.

Per your request, we have added another 2 minutes to the timer.

We suggest that you make a list for each person of the items you want to select for them BEFORE you begin registration. Then you can work from that list.

Please take a look at the souvenir T-shirt and Hat you can add to your order at the end. Images of these items will be on the BotCon site in the next couple of days.

If you have not read the Information tab brochure, please do so before you register as you have 10 minutes to complete your registration before the system puts your items back into stock. You cannot hold them in your cart longer than that amount of time, however you can start over.

We do reserve the right to limit any member's quantities if we deem them excessive.

Please note that we have added a NEW item this year. Because of the concern of people not being able to participate in the class, we are offering to each registered attending member the opportunity to purchase an assembled unpainted Class Figure. This is limited to one per person, per package ordered. However, that person must pickup their items at registration. DO NOT create phantom attendees to get additional Class Figures as you will not be able to pick them up. This is NOT a souvenir and is NOT subject to the Golden Ticket souvenir rules. In addition, we will not pre-announce the figure or class kit mold, it will be a surprise!

I'll send out an email when the link is live.

See you in San Diego!

Brian

My money's on someone with a head sculpt. My bet would be for ROTF Mindwipe, in the foolish hope they're not being cheap with this box set and gave us a second voyager.

I'll need to see it before I make up my mind, but so far the only one I'm at all interested in is Obsidian.

I always thought Mindwipe would make a good Bomb Burst. They wouldn't even have to change the head.

...Huh. That sounds... really interesting.

Oh, god damnit. Now I have to read the convention comic...

If Megaplex's figure turns out to be awesome I might succumb...

The Hall of Fame is curiously barely mentioned in this brochure. :???:

And notice a change in the Customization Class figure availability. ;)

David Sobolov sounds cool and James Horan could be as well.

With Megaplex announced, the mold's gotta be a jet one.

I really like the change in policy on the custom class figure. It should have been that way from the beginning. I rather have the "unpainted and fully assembed" version knowing that "painting" is usually just the roof of the car on the large translucent piece. (if it's even a car this year) I wouldnt even be surprised if Reprolabels issues a sticker set for the unpainted parts whatever they are. If theres one for every attendee to buy, that means there should be at least 1500 of them pre-assembled for sale. Ill be attending the Captured Prey custom class instead which will probally sell out quick now that this news is out.

I have no idea what mold Megaplex would be, but I wish they could use the Iron Man Crossovers jet mold. All the crossovers molds have great potential to be repurposed and re-tooled as Transformers characters. Such a waste of good molds...

Most would agree that they are not "good molds" when compared to the quality and engineering of main line Transformers toys.

I requested clarification from FunPub. They've confirmed there is no Hall of Fame event currently planned. The three remaining references to it in the brochure have been removed.

Ive never actually owned one so I cant speak on their quality control vs. the actual TF line. Im just saying there are alot of cool alt modes that transform into cool robot bodies from the crossovers lines. If they were repainted and re-tooled, there would be so many options for new homages instead of having doubles and triples of one mold on the classics shelf. Just seems like a big waste of molds to me. Im not into the whole super hero thing anyways, only Transformers.

Oh, I agree that they do look visually appealing aesthetic-wise, but that's will the appeal mostly lies for these figures.

The problem is that they were very cheaply designed when compared to the actual Transformers toys. I own Ghost Rider and, while he does look visually stunning, every time I play with this thing I'm scared I might break it with just the slightest nudge in the wrong direction.

And his transformation is just so simple! There's literally no challenge in it whatsoever. And he doesn't exactly want to hold together properly in either modes either. He still looks cool, but again, his coolness is only in his looks.

Hasbro really dropped the ball on these toys and obviously just wanted to make a quick buck by throwing a bone to the Marvel crowd, even if that bone's the kind that squeaks when you squeeze it. :P As cool as some of these molds look, they're too delicate and low quality to lie the same league as the main line TF molds. :-(
