Seibertron.com has just received images from Botcon thanks to it's owner, Ryan. Below are images from our gallery of Hasbro's new Seacon set shown at the convention. Differences include a chromed sword, and an alternate paint deco. If you'd like to compare, check out our Piranacon gallery here, and view the new one from Botcon 2010, here.

Damn, I collected half of the original, but still missing about 80$ worth of accesories - that box is awesome, I simply MUST get this release.

I'm sure someone will get this info out of the folks on the panel tomorrow. If they don't, they're doing the fandom a disservice. lol

EDIT: OH EM GEE...THEY ARE COMPLETE! THEY COME WITH THE TARGETMASTER STANDS AND ALL OF THEIR ACCESSORIES! YES I'M SCREAMING BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME!

This is what G1 commemorative means.......re-issue the guys themselves and not the monstrosities like Superion and Bruticus (saving grace is FP). Now the Seacons?! The Seacons?! There is a god!

Monstructor re-release, Monstructor re-release, Monstructor re-release (crosses fingers even tighter) Monstructor re-release, Monstructor re-release, Monstructor re-release...

BTW, good to see Hasbro splashing the chrome paint around again!

Next stop, re-release the Classics line covered in neon chrome, c'mon, Transmetal Classics, it's mad enough to work...

I really hope this isn't a TRU exclusive, but i'm sure it will be. The TRU near me has NEVER had a commemorative set in. You have no idea how many people i've redirected to BBTS, RK, TA from there. I NEED this to be Wal-Mart exclusive. Or I suppose I could handle a Target exclusive.

My only problem with God Neptune is that if I remember correctly that set doesn't use the... Wasn't it the Nautilator mold? Anyway, it omits one of the "scout-sized" figures, and only has the other four, as I remember. God Neptune had thin, brittle feeling plastic. This looks to be far sturdier. I love the color scheme on God Neptune, but it always felt like it was going break, to me.

Pass.

I saw these in person today as well and they do look that damn good.. Most of the new figures on display all had "coming soon" or TBA on their little card. Not many of them had release dates

Oh, I wouldn't mind the God Neptune color scheme, on sturdier figures, but I like the Piranicon color scheme. I don't know why, I really don't, but I do like it.

Oh, and the set is fully complete. The stands are shown on the side of the packaging, and the individual figures are shown with their weapons, and the combined form in the box shows the combiner parts.

Just so it's clear what I meant; I was talking about all 6 individual figures. While they've clearly all been present the last two times I know this has been released (by which i mean this forthcoming time and the TFCC repaint), but that hasn't always been the case. Whichever character is the "weakest link" of the team in in it's G1 story - Nautilator I think - is prone to get left out from what I've read.

Understood. However, if you look at the packaging in the link I posted earlier, you can see all six Seacons on the side. And all of them on the back in other pictures.

This set is 100% the same as the original in terms of number of combiner pieces, weapons, stands, and figures.

So the reissue will have a chrome sword and a teal head on snap trap instead of the original black head.

Still this is a clear buy.

This is awesome news! My brother and I had three of these guys but never got the whole set. Snaptrap was one of my favorites. Hopefully we can get a date for this to be released. Otherwise I am going to be worried about finding this until it comes out.

What's up with Snaptraps green head? I think it blends in too much. I like the origional black much better. Not that it matters. This guy will be bought.

Painting the head should be no problem, really. Especially if you use paint pens like I do.

I'll paint mine and be done with it, if need be.

I buy them at Wal-mart. Singles are $3.50, 5-packs are $10.50

They have two standards sets (red, black, green, brown, etc.) One pastel and one neon set. I have one of each and they've lasted me well over a year.

Gold and silver are only available in singles.

Fine, medium, and full sized tips available. Oh, and they're acrylics.

Is there any confirmation on how this set's being released? The "G1 Commemorative" logo in the top right of the box front implies that it'll either be TRU (the normal route for figures I'd place under the G1CS banner) or through Hasbro Toy Shop (which is how Astrotrain from the original G1CS line was released).

Astrotrain was an exception, and so were later runs of Sideswipe that were found at KB Toys.

Yeah, fine, but is there any word on how/where these will be released? I'm also tempted to say they will be TRU exclusives or HTS exclusives for the same reasons of the Commemorative Series package and the fact that Astrotrain was an online exclusive too. The box is the Walmart Skywarp box, similar to the Walmart ROTF Seeker repaints, so does that mean that the Seacons are Walmart or TRU or HTS exclusives? I can't really believe that they'd just mass retail this set.

We asked the hasbro people and they said that it hadn't been decided yet, but most likely online, so I would assume HTS.

This is true. But then, I'd classify both TRU and SDCC/HTS versions of the Soundwave reissue to be G1CS (at least in the format of release), though they wouldn't count as part of what was in the original line. I can also prove Perceptor and the Insecticons would have been listed in TRU computers as Commemorative Series (because I've got my receipt from Perceptor still), though they weren't a part of the original series.

Wasn't trying to start a debate about how some of the figures were released, though. As Dagon tried asking as well, what I wanted to know was where and when this set's coming out. It'll most likely be TRU, I predict, but as you've pointed out, that hasn't always been the case.

--B-- wrote:We asked the hasbro people and they said that it hadn't been decided yet, but most likely online, so I would assume HTS.

Thanks for the info. I'd be a little bit disappointed if this is how it works out, but then, Blaster's gonna be SDCC/HTS as well if I remember right, so it'd make sense.

That does make sense, except that don't SDCC or HTS exclusives just sort of end up being discovered as oppsoed to being Botcon premired? Geez, forgive my spelling there.
What I mean is that when SDCC Nemesis Prime and Titanium Skywarp and Menasor and even Soundwave and now Blaster were news'd, weren't they just like announced by Hasbro, same with the Classics deluxe repaints like Overkill? They weren't Botcon revealed were they?
I'm only asking becuase if the Seacons got the Botcon panel announcement, wouldn't that possibly mean they;re going to get a general release or a store exclusive release instead of being HTS exclusives?

Generally speaking on this release, is it just me or do they look kind of knock-off-y? MAybe it's just the paintjobs, which aren't a big deal but with SnapTraps' head being teal like that, and Overbite in general, it makes the plastic look cheapish, but I'm just specualting. Someone said that God Neptune feels flimsy to them, and I couldn't disagree more, my GN is sturdier than my G1 Pirhanacon, but the TFCC reissue, that one feels flimsy. I've got no problems with my TFCC one, but the plastic does feel thinner than the previous two releases. But, that's just me. I'd like to pick up one of these sets but would most likely keep it MISP, since I can't really imagine a shelf with four Pirhanacons on it. Although, a shelf with multiple G1 Bruticus, that works for me somehow. I don't know. Back to my cave.

I can't remember how Nemesis Prime and the others were revealed, but Blaster was announced at Botcon as a SDCC figure, and I'm leaping to the conclusion that Blaster launched as a HTS release because I remember the other SDCC figures you were talking about were also available there. (That's how I bought Nemesis Prime, for example.)

I can't remember how the Universe SE figures (like Overkill) were announced, though. I feel like they were announced on Hasbro's Transformers page, but I'm not 100% about it.

If my memory serves me right, and that's a pretty big 'If', Nemesis Prime was revealed to showcase the Universe 2.0 packaging. I'm simplifying quite a bit really, but NP was like our first glimpse of the new packaging, and I learned of the HTS deluxes from Seibertron.com (good site, check it out some time. .... :D ) so I don;t know how they were promoted.
I remember NP being found on eBay, and there was one with red window plastic as well that was supposed to be a Japanese exclusive that I think never surfaced, but that's how I remember NP being advertised.

The colors are fail, but with how pricey God Neptune is now, I may get these anyway.

So how do we find out who it's going to retail thru?

Online stores have them listed as mid July, so someone has to know something at this point I would assume.

Got to make sure I get mine before they are all gone.

Just in case nobody's noticed it on the front page, apparently BBTS is getting this one. Funny how I don't even realize it's been front-paged until I check the email and there's the thing from big bad.

Just wanna make sure that the Seacons wont just be a BBTS exclusive right? really dont feel like paying the $10.00 markup plus shipping on this set and rather pick it up at retail store, unless Hasbro will have it as their HTS exclusive or does anyone know? I'm dying to get this set and its beeen a long time coming...

Expanding on what I think Counterpunch was trying to say in his post, the text of the e-mail sent out can be found here, but I'm quoting the portion answering the question again below:

Joel - BigBadToyStore wrote:BigBadToyStore is proud to present our first ever Hasbro Exclusive:
Decepticon Piranacon - G1 Commemorative Seacons!

The Seacons are available in their traditional G1 colors for the first
time in over 20 years since their initial release in 1988!

This limited edition set is only available in North America from BBTS!

This amazing exclusive comes packaged in an awesome collector gift-box,
includes: collector cards, all 6 figures needed to form Piranacon,
and weapons for each individual figure. This is the first time
Piranacon has ever been reissued with the G1 color scheme.

I would have rather bought it from TRU and spent the money for shipping elsewhere, but for Big Bad's pre-orders, I believe you're not supposed to get billed until it actually ships. That and wanting the G1 Seacons made this pre-order easy.

We also have an idea when this is coming now. There will apparently be a batch in late July if I remember right (which I think the higher-priced pre-order is for), with the rest coming in August.
