Much, much better than Pyro, this guy looks GREAT. It's like he jumped right out of the 90's! Guess I know what my first Botcon figure's going to be...
That head sculpt is gorgeous.

And I mean it, people keep saying Thunderclash (damn do I like him though) has the ugliest colours from G1.5/2, but wow this thing just takes the biscuit, dips it in gasoline and sets the f**ker on fire.
The alt-mode looks kinda good, but hell does that bot-mode cry for a mercy killing.

I know people are complaining about the colors but if they're going to do a Generation 2 theme then go all the way. I really hope they do a Gen 2 Ramjet.
I really want that Breakdown. Total win.

Only 2 issues...
1. Why is his engine piece pink ???
2. Stop putting their names on the toys !!!

Personally I would prefer that to be made from Cybertron defence RedAlert, but Onslaught would be good enough. I'd have someone to keep my BotCon Thunderclash company.

In G2 a lot of them had their names on the alt mode. It was so silly.
Oh man. I'm just starting to think about some of the gaudy nightmare versions of existing characters G2 gave us that the classics molds can be painted as. Silverbolt, Onslaught, Grimlock, Bumblebee.

Wow.
I hope they retain that headsculpt for some serious Classics style action.

Wonder if Dragstrip will be available.
A G2 Ramjet renamed as Slipstream would be fantastic. It would increase the Seeker count and homage the similarly coloured Animated female.

G2 is the reason I got OUT of TF collecting way back when.

The pink should be purple.
G2 they put their names on some of the toys, it would not be an accurate G2 homage if they did not.

As much as I would like a Slipstream, I would really rather a brand new mold than a repaint. It would be the original Blackarachnia toy all over again. (yuck)
I'm wondering, if they're doing Pyro are they going to do Clench? Wasn't he the Decepticon equivalent?

If they do Clench, I suspect he would be done from Universe Onslaught.

I gotta agree. "Breakdown" on the side of the car is kinda lame. The colors don't bother me a bit though.

Makes me feel a little less jealous of those of you who can make it to Botcon!
Actually, I remember just last night I was having a conversation with my brother about 'why they haven't made Breakdown yet' and just as soon as I log on today I see this!

Now if only they'd give us a Classics Seeker mold in G2 Ramjet colors, G2 Windbreaker from the Cybertron HotShot (/ SG Goldbug) mold, a blue Grimlock, Hooligan from the Energon Starscream mold (to coincide with Hooligan's appearance in last year's BotCon comic), then I'd be one happy Decepticon.

I'm for the whole color scheme being waaaay too much. The head sculpt it pretty cool but DAMN it all to hell son!! If Hasbro is smart they'll use this head sculpt and mold for a better repaint down the road. I do find those who joke how ugly and sick this figure looks and intend to pick it up and the Inferno repaint up, what ever the hell his name is. Ehh but what the hell do I know 'nuff said!

First thing I noticed, too...
I'm actually rather disappointed that I'm not yet able to go to Botcon or get this set. (I'm too broke, and lacking a passport to leave the country with...) So far it looks fantastic and I know that the after-con prices for these are going to be outrageous.

I don't mind variations on classic characters (Shattered Glass, the vehicle mode BW characters, etc) but giving us somewhat definitive versions of classic G1 guys in extremely limited editions is a bit of a slap in the face to those who can't attend or don't have redonculous amounts of spare cash.
I've seen a fair few con exclusives that I'd really like, but I like them not making characters that I'd feel are "needed" for a complete updated G1 cast. I also like when there's a clear theme, which the Games of Deception set didn't really have IMO. A bunch of G2 homages that we'd never be likely to see outside of customs by people who have too much time on their hands? That's great. A bunch of toon-accurate versions of characters we almost all grew up on? Not so much.

Anyway, I freaking like this. I love the "combiner" head also. I think that is a good touch. Glad they didn't design it differently than it really is.
Posted by Delicon on April 2nd, 2010 @ 9:42pm CDT
I actually like The G2 Optimus trailer better than the G1 version, mainly for that reason.
