Ironhide is neither his Movie repaint Blue, nor his G1 Red, while Optimus Prime is a homage to G1 Hot Rod/Energon Rodimus.

All of these repaints are either vastly different or better than the Original (looking at you Ramjet).
Add this to the Stormsurge and Evac repaints we have seen lately, and could Hasbro be finally understanding what to do to make repaints worth a purchase?

BUT WHY ISN"T IRON HIDE RED!?!
Actualy, I like the silver, I just figured be the voice for all the horse beaters who'll never see this
They look awesome though, I realy like the SmokeScreen homage.

Well, ya see, he isn't red simply because the ramifications of such a thing, modified by the quasi-reality of the possibility of there being a "red version" of this figure compounded by the the fact that he..most likely...will be repainted red at some point...then Umm...
< pokes LE in the eyes and grabs the FAB Ironhide, then runs away laughing maniacly>

besides movie Iron Hide would look like a can of crushed tomatoes in Hasbro's hands, personaly, I hope it never happens. Besides, if he was named anything else, no one would care if he was red or not.
Now keep running, less they catch you!
Go Man GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smokescreen is fantastic except for the jazz head.
G1 colors! not blue and white/green, red!
They should release a normal version of him.

I generally felt that way, too, thinking they were pale versions of the regular deluxes of the movie line.
However, I came across FAB Blackout one day and it grabbed my attention immediately. I liked the character, but Voyager Blackout had been a little disappointing. So, the next day I stopped by a TRU that was along my way and bought both Blackout and Frenzy, since my movie line couldn't be complete without SOME type of Frenzy.
After opening and transforming both, I have come away really impressed by the FABs. Blackout's transformation is fun and holds together very well in helicoptor mode, something the voyager lacks(the rear compartments become easily loose from their pegs). But Frenzy really impressed me; when I first looked at him in robot form, I wondered, "How the frick is this thing going to turn into a radio?" Well, let me tell you....it's a pretty cool process. Now if they could only have given Frenzy some metallic gray paint at certain joints, he would be amazing.
So, I missed the original FABs earlier, but I agree, these repints look really good, if just for the paint applications themselves. The FAB line doesn't have great poseability and yes, is meant more for hassle-free play for kids compared to the more advanced deluxes, but they are a real pleasant surprise and I would recommend at least 1 or 2.

According to the names listed, Ironhide is Ironhide and Optimus is Optimus.

Glad I passed on most of these already.

Bass X0 wrote:I disagree Senor Hugo - these are must buys for me whereas the originals are still definite passes. Thats the power of a good repaint.
Still. What would you rather have? The same toy with nothing different but a new paint job?
Or the same toy with a remolded head to go along with the new paint job?
I prefer the remold/repaint, and not just a damned regular repaint.

They look great except for Ironhide who isn't homage.
Those repaints are hot, boy! Oh, silly question: anyone knows what Ironhide is supposed to be? He is not red again.
