Did I read that right? TF Prime toy line not available at retail stores? That doesn't seem like a smart move on Hasbro part...

Great, so if I want Megatron and the kids, I HAVE to get the deluxe Prime? Which then makes Megatron a deluxe only as well?

Maybe just get the deluxe set of four and the two Voyagers and hope Megatron gets a Voyager release later.

I'm going to wait for the eventual, inevitable Voyager Megatron to go with Prime.

I think that just means these are getting a limited early release. There's no way that Hasbro will not release these en mass by Feb.

The Generations figures NEVER made it to my area in NW Ohio, except for a small chunk and they sold out FAST.

I'm thinking if these are limited, BBTS might be the best way to go.

Or maybe Hasbro decided if the cast was getting upgraded toys anyway, they're ditching the First Edition line to a market that will have an easier time getting them to people. I don't know about you, but retail is terrible in my region.

I agree, but they've been teasing the release since at least June. so it really would suck if they led us on all year, then "Whoop, just kidding, we're not actually releasing them!"

This is a load of B.S. Hasbro isn't stupid; they now that most of their sales come from parents being harassed by their kids into buying toys. Where does this harassment take place, at the Targets, Walmarts and other toy stores of the world. We collectors make up omly a small portion of total sales. More than making collectors happy Hasbro wants to make money; they're a bussiness for Christ's sake. Releasing the Prime figures only on an obscure website (maybe not to you and me, but to much of the general consuming public) make no bussiness sense. I'll say it again; Hasbro wants to make MONEY,it's their job.

So basically what you're saying is the same toys will still be available at retail cept without that lil "Good Housekeeping seal of approval" that is First Edition?

Guys, read between the lines. When he said retail, he said K-Mart, Target and Wal-Mart, and that it would be in a specialty market. Toys R Us is a specialty market. Toys R Us was never mentioned in his e-mailer. We know the Canadian TRUs are getting them.

Most likely, like other TF lines, they'll be at TRU. No need to panic and lynch just yet.

They better be at TRU because BBTS is a rip off.

so in other words only TRU is going to have them and since they are going to be the only ones to have them they'll charge $15 per figure, then factor in scalpers so yeah good luck finding these guys in your area. Ok im a little pissed cause there are 2 figures that i want and since walmart isnt going to have them the prices are going to be retarded, i might just say to hell with it and skip this line.

Keep in mind this is the "first edition" pre-normal-sale line, not the regular sale line. I'm imagine when these guys hit the shelves for their normal sale's they'll be in Walmart, Target and all them.

The news story has been updated to clarify that the "First Edition" line will see a limited release. This implies that the main/primary Transformers Prime line will see a full release which makes more sense than what we all seemed to initially think.

wait, if these are the "first addition" wave, then why are they not comming out till january O_o

That makes A LOT more sense. Still hoping the TRU theory is correct, though. Much rather pay Toys R' Us' 2-3 dollar mark up as opposed to BBTS' 10 dollar mark up. >.>

These are First Edition figures.... not "Wave 1" figures so i still see a mass production of prime toys in 2012


What really throwing me off is the release of the First Editions cause i figure they should be release now and not near the release date of the Wave 1 figures in Jan/Feb

Meh, meh, and meh. Stuck in a preorder while I debate the merits of these vs the Takara versions due Dec 28th. I already have the entertainment pack awaiting ship from Robotkingdom.

Sure the Takara ones are pricey, but you get the better quality, and you get them all in one go (including the Decepticon/Vehicon/Drone thingy) - all's left is Voyager Megs and Starscream then... And zombie Cliffy:-?

Well we knew they would be mass-produced in 2012 eventually, but they kinda let us think that these guys would be readily available by xmas. I'm only planning on getting the first mold of cliff and maybe bulkhead, but the earlier the better, ya know?

I am surprised that Hasbro is not launching the line in time to take advantage of the holidays. Are they really going to bank on the half dead Dotm line? seems kinda silly to me...

yeah, i think these figures are only available in the first edition wave. i swear to god if they are. hasblow is not gonna do well on this line. we better be hearing stuff about these toys soon.

My guess is the first edition crap is just slightly different packaging, probably better paint apps, and in the case of the voyagers, the display stands. Everything else should be available in stores because there's no such thing as first edition if there's no second edition to follow.

On topic: Not a smart move by Hasbro. Unlike Generations and RTS, there is a cartoon out right now with these figures that kids love. Kids are Hasbro's money pit, not collectors. Sounds too dumb a move, even for Hasbro. Maybe we should wait for an official statement from Hasbro and not from a middle man who's company benefits from online purchases.

hey people, keep calling your toys r us stores. see what they say when you ask them about transformers prime toys. mine said to ask again in about a week.

All pre-ordered . There is no TRU anywhere near here (not too many other stores either). I've got all the Takara versions pre-ordered on BBTS as well. Expensive, but totally worth it. We'll see if any get canceled by me due to being too similar in paint apps etc. (or just being far superior/more show-accurate than the other version), but only time (and the comparisons that will surely come) will tell.

The way things are going, this will be the first Transformers line that I actually get every single figure from (already have both the NYCC and SDCC exclusives).

I got an email earlier from http://www.entertainmentearth.com and they have these available for preorder now as well. They are a little cheaper than BBTS. How are they not making money if scalpers are buying them? To Hasbro, a sale is a sale.
