Yeah, I'm attending my first Auto Assembly this year.

I'll be the grumpy northerner quietly judging people from the bar.

Via the official Auto Assembly website, we get another addition to the guest roster for the 2014 edition of Europe's biggest Transformers convention: Jim Sorenson, the disciple of Boltax himself! Read on below for more information on the many activities and books he's been involved with, and head here to book your ticket now.

We are thrilled to announce that in 2014, Auto Assembly will once again be graced by renowned Transformers Author, Jim Sorenson!

Jim has worked with IDW since 2006 and has been the pen behind many pieces of great Transformers literature such as, The Ark (1 and 2), The AllSpark Almanac (1 and 2), The Art of Transformers Prime and The Transformers 30th Anniversary Collection. He has also leant his talents to several projects outside of the Transformers Universe (debatably!) such as the much lauded GI:Joe Field Manuals.

Jim’s latest offering, Transformers Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging (compiled with longtime co-creator, Bill Forster) is scheduled for a May 2014 release. Be sure to pre-order a copy and bring it with you to Auto Assembly to be signed by the man himself! We have attached the link below.

As ever, you can follow Jim’s updates on his blog, Disciples of Boltax:

http://boltax.blogspot.co.uk

Jim will be joining us for Auto Assembly 2014, which will take place on 8th – 10th August 2014 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. Order your tickets now to join us in celebrating 30 years of the Cybertronians!

tempted to go, but it's not cheap is it? it's my 30th the week before, so I might be able to blag some cash off the oldies... we'll see.

Its less than £30 for a weekend, so if that is expensive to you....

Day tickets are under £20 I believe.

I had my fill the last 2 years, i'm going this year to hang out in the bar for a day and catch up with a few close friends, I dont plan to buy a ticket, not worth it to me. But if the guests appeal to you, its 3 and a half months away, plenty of time to save.

Ironically ive travelled down from Manchester the last 2 years and done the same exact thing. Glad somebody will be there representing grumpy northerners

Website says £55 for a weekend ticket, which admittedly still isn't a lot...but is more than the comic cons I've been to in the past few years. The deal with the Hilton is actually pretty good, although I dread to think what the bar prices will be. Then there's travel and spending money. That last one will be the real killer. I can save up, sure, and it's my 30th a week or two prior, so I'll be able to afford it. More looking for any folks previous experiences to sell me on the show.

It looks as though the Auto Assembly team have actually been able to secure most of the core creative team behind IDW Publishing's Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye! Yes indeed, Europe's biggest transforming robots convention has just revealed a new guest for their already impressive line-up, from James Roberts to Jim Sorenson, via Alex Milne, Townsend Coleman, Peter Spellos, Livio Ramondelli and more: the newly announced MTMTE colourist Joana Lafuente. Check out the news below, and head here to buy your tickets.

Another day, another guest announced for Europe's biggest Transformers convention. Auto Assembly have just revealed that IDW Publishing comics artist Casey Coller will be attending the convention this coming August! Check out some of his credits below, and head here to buy your ticket.

Casey has been working on Transformers comics since making his debut providing variant cover artwork for the first issue of All Hail Megatron and subsequently covers for several other issues in the series. Since then has provided interior and cover artwork for Spotlight Blurr, Spotlight Drift (both for covers and interior artwork), Spotlight Cliffjumper, the Ironhide miniseries, and many more.

Most recently, Casey is providing regular cover work for More Than Meets The Eye and Robots In Disguise, with much of his work being coloured by fellow Auto Assembly 2014 guest Joana Lafuente!

The updates from Auto Assembly, Europe's largest Transformers convention, have kept coming in! In the last couple of days, two major announcement have been made: first off, the core creative team behind IDW Publishing's Transformers: ReGeneration One comics series will all be returning as guests, and that includes Simon Furman, Andrew Wildman, Stephen Baskerville and John-Paul Bove; Jason Cardy, the cover colourist, will also be attending, as part of the newly created Artist Alley at the convention, along with (for now) Kat Nicholson, Liam Shalloo and Kris Carter. Check out more below, and head here for even further information!

Image

We’re more than a little enthusiastic to announce that we are going to be joined this year by the entire creative team behind Regeneration One! Yes, once again writer Simon Furman, artist Andrew Wildman, inker Stephen Baskerville and colourist John-Paul Bove will all be in attendance along with cover colourist Jason Cardy who will be in our new Artists Alley that we have introduced for Auto Assembly 2014 and not only will they be around throughout the convention to meet fans, sign autographs and sketch for all of you (although we’re not too sure how many of you would be asking Simon Furman for sketches!), all five of them will be taking to the stage for a special Regeneration One themed panel.

As you can imagine with Regeneration One coming to a close, this is going to be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with us what has been a rollercoaster ride as the team close a monumental comic series.

Image

We’re always on the lookout for new ideas to introduce to the convention here at Auto Assembly, especially this year as we celebrate 30 years of Transformers so starting with Auto Assembly 2014 we are pleased to present the launch of Auto Assembly’s brand new Artists Alley…

As you’d expect, this is a new area we are setting aside at the convention to allow artists to showcase their work, sell original artwork, sketch for attendees and more but for this year we’re doing something rather special as the area is going to be a special All-Star Artists Alley! This year it is going to be playing host to nothing but professional comic artists who will be selling some of their original work, other projects they are involved with and, of course, sketching throughout the convention weekend.

The UK is warming up (before drowning in floods again), and its biggest Transformers convention reveals their new, exclusive, attendee-only lithograph, with artwork by Auto Assembly's resident artist Ed Pirrie! The piece is a massive A2 size (16.5 x 23.4 in), and will be given free at registration until stocks last - check it out below!

We’ve been keeping this one under wraps for a while, but after a two year gap we’re incredibly excited to announce that once again we’re bringing you all a convention exclusive lithograph for Auto Assembly 2014 as we celebrate 30 years of Transformers and best of all, we’re giving this litho print away absolutely FREE!

This is an absolutely stunning limited edition A2 sized print and features a wide range of characters from the last 30 years of Transformers and has been illustrated by Auto Assembly in-house artist and AA2014 guest Ed Pirrie. The litho is limited to a print run of just 1,250 copies and will not be available from anywhere else apart from Auto Assembly 2014 so if you want to get your hands on this great piece of artwork, then you will have to be at this year’s convention!!

With not long left to the event, Auto Assembly 2014 has finally revealed its final guest, joining a list so long you can find it linked here - he's a writer, artist, liar and Irishman, and will be gracing the Hilton halls from his Marvel and IDW gigs: Nick Roche!

NICK ROCHE

Writer and artist extraordinaire, Nick made his mark with the release of the seminal Last Stand Of The Wreckers and has worked on countless other Transformers titles since then. He also seems to have something of a personality crisis, often thinking that in reality he is Beast Wars Megatron, usually during our script readings, but the less said about that the better…

With only a couple of weeks left before Auto Assembly 2014, Europe's biggest Transformers convention, it's time for a catch-all post rounding up the slew of news that they have been posting in the past weeks. Starting off with two special motored guests, Barricade and Bumblebee in their replica vehicle forms from the first three movies, available for free photos all weekend; next up is a surprise official Hasbro giveaway, of which we still know very little, other than it's official, and it's from Hasbro themselves.

As well as bringing back its own bar and diner, Swerve's, Auto Assembly will be holding another charity auction during the event, with profits going to Mary's Meals.+

Lastly, but definitely not leastly (which is not a word), special guest events include an IDW Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye creator panel with writer James Roberts, artist Alex Milne and current colourist Joana Lafuente. And artist Livio Ramondelli will be hosting this year's art workshop, too.

So make sure to book your single day or weekend ticket now, and we'll see you in Birmingham on 8-10th August!

My good friend Gerard Galvin-Barrie, also known as WolfKang1 is going to be attending AA as well. You guys may or may not know, but he's a frequent TF reviewer and also posts up funny stuff on his channel such as the strange, sordid events of his everyday life chocked full of irony and funky coincidence.

Anyway, he won't be going as just a TF collector/fan. This year he and his mates will be playing the show as this year's audible entertainment. For those of you unaware, he has a band called (of all things :P) WolfKang and they will be playing AA, doing sets of songs from their recently released album, Every Now And Then as well as some classic tracks from Transformers: The Movie.

They'll have a few copies of their album for sale at the show for any of you who like what you hear.

It appears Auto Assembly 2014 is going all out for the 30th anniversary of the Transformers franchise! Not only have they broken the previous record for European attendance on pre-orders alone, have an official photographer, band, bar, fan art gallery, redesigned goodie bags, a new podcast.. they have finally revealed their officially Hasbro-licensed exclusive product: a Dinobot Band t-shirt designed by none other than IDW artist and colourist Josh Burcham! Check out more info and an image below.

Just when you thought that we’d announced everything for this year’s convention, we are proud to announce yet another exclusive for Auto Assembly 2014…

In partnership with our friends at Urban Species, we are proud to announce that this year’s convention will have a limited edition exclusive t-shirt! Available from the Urban Species table in the Dealers area of the convention, this brand new design features the Dinobots in a way that you’ve never seen them before…

For those of us dwelling on this side of the Atlantic (that's Europe, to be clear), this weekend sees Auto Assembly 2014 finally opening its doors! If you'll be part of the biggest Transformers convention on the continent, make sure to say hi, show off your hauls and photos and check out the event schedule here!

It’s been a long road getting here, but at long last we can unveil the full schedule for the weekend for Auto Assembly 2014 and we believe that it’s our best programme of events yet for Europe’s Largest Transformers Convention…

We’ve got a packed weekend of events lined up with workshops, several guest Q&A panels on every day, our infamous script reading, a live band, autograph sessions and much more – so much in fact that our team has been struggling for weeks trying to fit everything in! Anyway, you can now view and download the Auto Assembly 2014 Schedule in full as a PDF file to read on your PC, tablet or mobile device (ideal to bring with you to the convention!).

Due to family commitments I'll be there from tomorrow morning. I hope my sleeping pattern is stable by then and I get a decent amount of hours kip tonight or else otherwise I'll make a really bad impression on the randoms I meet again.

Still pretty pissed off that they didn't release the schedule until two days before the convention started. I get that they don't want to piss people off if attendees drop out but I'm fairly certain that most people are understanding when real life gets in the way. I just think they should have maybe announced the schedule when the last attendee was announced which was what, a month ago? People can make decisions about whether to attend or not then.

Saying that, I'll be there again next year and hopefully for the full weekend once my house is sorted out and I'm properly moved in.

See you all tomorrow!
